Wednesday, August 16th: "August $150,000 GTD" Begins With Two Flights, Still "Spinning To Win"

ICYMI: Tuesday afternoon's $100 No Limit Hold'em "Monster Stack" ($3,000 GTD) saw registration close with (44) entries, and an official prize pool of $3,388.  The tournament's first place payout was scheduled to be $1,322, but that number would change after a four-way deal was agreed to.  The final four players happened to be some of the most loyal Isle Casino tournament poker players, so it was no surprise when the four friends decided to chop the remaining prize money.  Donald Gordon (Boynton Beach, FL) was the chip leader at the time of the deal, and would be declared the tournament's winner.

  1. Donald Gordon (Boynton Beach, FL) $968
  2. Arlene Vazquez (Parkland, FL) $728
  3. Daniel Genachte (Deerfield Beach, FL) $618
  4. Aldring Gomez Torres (Miami Beach, FL) $600
  5. Fausto Tersigni (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $271
  6. Jean Brigagao Do Nascimen (Orlando, FL) $203
The $8,000 guarantee for the Tuesday evening (6:00pm) tournament was never in doubt, as a total of (194) entries made up the $60 No Limit Hold'em field.  After the registration period closed, and the optional add-ons were included into the number, the official prize pool would close at $9,206.  There would be (25) spots paid in the tournament, with a min-cash worth $69, and $2,294 up top.  Notables to cash (short of the final table) included Oleg Efremov, Antonio Colon, Hosney Boutros, and Daniel Shortley.  Play continued once the final table was reached, but the clock would be paused after two eliminations.  The remaining eight players would begin talking numbers, and a deal would be agreed to.
  1. Amit Savani (Miami, FL) $1,184
  2. Peter Bejusca (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $1,059
  3. Steve Galer (Albany, NY) $1,027

Tournaments: Wednesday afternoon marks the beginning of the $360 No Limit Hold'em ($150,000 guaranteed prize pool) event, the the first of two multi-day events in the month of August.  The "August $150,000 GTD" has a total of eight flights, with an afternoon (12:00pm) and evening (6:00pm) each day (Wednesday through Saturday).  Day 2 for the tournament is on Sunday (August 20th) at 12:00pm, and will play down to a conclusion.

The tournament's structure stays the same for each opening flight, with players sitting down to starting stacks of 20,000 units.  Level's will last (30) minutes during each starting flight (Levels 1-16), and transition to (40) minutes on Day 2 (Level's 17+).  Registration is open through Level 8 (and the break that follows), with the schedule seeing the bagging process begin after Level 16 (or until 13% of the field remains).

While the guarantee on this event is $150,000, results from prior events (with a similar price point) show that we can expect that number to be reached well before the final flight.  Each of the afternoon flights will have "live blogged coverage," with full updates throughout Day 2, until the last hand has been dealt (and the trophy awarded).

Promotions: The high hand promotions are in full swing from the moment the doors open this morning, with the "Turbo High Hands" ($100 awarded every 10 minutes from 9:00am-12:00pm, with rollovers) distributing money at a rapid pace.  The transition at 12:00pm begins the "Spin To Win" promotion, which has awarded hundreds of thousands since it's inception.  It's the high hand promotion that makes all others jealous, and affords those that have a qualifying high hand (awarded every 30 minutes), an opportunity to spin the ever-popular "Money Wheel."  The total amount awarded...along with hourly breakdown, will be published tomorrow afternoon, here on the blog.
