Vince Green (Boynton Beach, FL)

Things were getting pretty close as the final hands were being dealt at Table 1, where the two largest stacks sat only seats away from each other.  Nachum Lumelski (Pembroke Pines, FL) got his stack up to 220,000, which was just behind Green, but Vince won a nice sized pot before play concluded.  That allowed him fold the final two hands, hoping the Lumeski didn't get involved in any pot worth noting.  That's how things played out, and Green would bag the Flight 1G chip lead with 285,000.

The tournament staff will verify all of the numbers in relation to the counts that remain, and we will then post the official flight chips counts.  That will once again conclude our "live coverage" for the day, but you can look forward to sporadic posts over the course of the evening, including official counts from each flight.

Day 2 coverage will begin the moment the cards are in the air tomorrow (12:00pm), and will continue until we have crowned an Event 10 winner (or winners).

Event 10 (Flight 1G): Green Gets Knocked Down

Aaron Shefter's pocket queens helped him leap up the leaderboard, while knocking down Vince Green

Vince Green has been extremely active since grabbing a massive flight chip lead, but he's currently trending downward at a steady pace.  After losing a handful of pots, Green and Aaron Shefter saw a flop heads up, with over 60,000 in the pot before the flop was dealt.  After the A 9♠ 2♣ flop, both players checked, and followed with the same action after the K on the turn.

The board would pair on the river with the K♠, and this time, Green would put forward a bet of 35,000.  Shefter collected the chips for a call, shaking his head back and forth while he was thinking, as if he felt he was just giving chips away.  He would eventually make the call, and Green would immediately put his hand in the muck.  Shelter showed Q♣ Q♠ for the win, and raked in a pot worth well over 100,000.

Aaron Shefter - 165,000
Vince Green 160,000

Play is about to enter the final level of the flight, with the clock being paused at 10:000, and five hands being dealt before the bagging process.

Event 10 (Flight 1G): Action About To Pick Up As Final Levels Play Out

Event 10 ($60 No Limit Hold'em $50,000 Guarantee)
Level 16 (Blinds 2,000/4,000/500)
Total Flight 1G Entries: 170

Total Event 10 Entries: 946
Flight 1G Players Remaining: 33

Flight 1G play is entering Level 16, with the blinds going up to 2,000/4,000/500.  The chip average amongst the remaining (33) players is 77,000, which is less than (20) blinds.  What we've seen over the course of the last six flights, is the action pick up dramatically over the course of the final levels (especially Level 18).  Players will be returning to Day 2 with blinds at 5,000/10,000/1,000, so the short stacks at the end of these flights are looking to either double up, or take another shot in a different flight.

Event 10 (Flight 1G): Updated Chip Counts Heading Into Final Break

Players are currently on their final (10) minute break of the night, and will return to Level 15, with blinds increasing to 1,500/3,000/400.  Play will conclude after Level 18, unless the field reaches 8%, at which point the clock would be paused and players would then bag.  If that was too occur, Day 2 would resume at the point at which the clock was paused.  Posted below are some updated chip counts (top counts) tallied during the final moments of Level 14:

Vince Green - 325,000
Aaron Shefter - 140,000
Frank Traino - 130,000
Robert Antunes - 115,000
Shlomo Maman - 110,000

It's unusual for a player to be featured in back-to-back posts during "live coverage," but Vince Green (Boynton Beach, FL) continues to make a run towards bagging a large number.  Already haven picked up a handful of pots since we last featured him, Green just eliminated another player in the field, as he opened the pot for a min-raise, and was called by an unknown player in small blind.

The dealer fanned out a flop of 5♠ 5 6, and the player in the small blind immediately went all-in for just over 15,000.  Green announced a call pretty quickly, and would be close to even money, holding 2 2♠ against the J 10 of his opponent (two overs and a flush draw).  The 3♣ on the turn gave Green an advantage heading to the river, and the Q on the river gave him the pot.  Green is now over 290,000, a stack that would crack the top ten of official counts having already bagged.

It should be mentioned that Flight 1H just completed it's first level of the day, with (60) total entries already to enter in the first (20) minutes of the day.

Vince Green (Boynton Beach, FL)

Outside of Guiseppe Lunetto's Day 2 stack of 615,000, there hasn't been another player to bag more than 358,000.  Part of the reasoning behind that is the size of the fields over the course of the last two days.  There are only so many chips in play that a person can possible accumulate, so the larger the field, the larger stacks you'd expect to see at the end of the flight.

Vince Green (Boynton Beach, FL) is currently sitting with over 210,000, which is one of the largest stacks we've seen at this point in any of the starting flights.  This may be some uncharted territory for Green though, a player with just (3) recorded tournament cashes on his resume.  One of those three cashes came during the 2015 Battle Of The Beaches, but none have been for more than $298.  That's the beauty of poker though, as Green's chances to make a deep run in this event are just as good as anyone else in the field...and now they're even better.

Ariel Rosello (Hialeah, FL)

Registration closed for Flight 1G with a total of (170) entries, bringing the combined total for Event 10 to (946).  There have been three players to separate themselves from the field in these early stages, incdluing Ariel Rosello (Hialeah, FL).  Rosello is currently sitting with just over 80,000, and is looking to start of his 2017 strong.  Ariel is coming off of a 2016 in which he recorded (17) cashes, totaling earnings worth over $34,000.  His largest score to date came last February, when he finished in 4th place during a $250 No Limit Hold'em "Escalator" event at Hard Rock Hollywood.

Behind Rosello, but also a good ways clear of the current field are:

Pat Miles - 70,000
Vince Green - 65,000

Flight 1G play has just entered Level 8, which means that just over (30) minutes remains in registration for this flight (registration closes with the first card dealt in Level 9).  Those players interesting in entering this tournament has two more opportunities today:

3:00pm - Event 10 ($60 No Limit Hold'em $50,000 Guarantee) Flight 1H
6:00pm - Event 10 ($60 No Limit Hold'em $50,000 Guarantee) Flight 1I

While this flight hosts a handful of players that are in action for the first time this tournament, there are many more that are trying to bag for a second or third (or more) time as well.  There is also one player in today's field that is in action, even after finding a bag yesterday afternoon.  Glen Canelstein (Coconut Creek, FL) bagged 96,000 yesterday during Flight 1D play, which is below average, but not nearly as short as a good percentage of the players that are returning tomorrow.  Canelstein decided that it's worth a shot a firing another bullet to try and bag something more for tomorrow, which would entail take his first bag out of play (this is a best stack forward event).  Glen's made it to the end of the registration period, which is the first step in finding a bag, but needs to build quickly if he wants to eclipse his number from yesterday.

Michael Scheinberg (Miami, FL)

For those players that don't play tournaments for a living (or even semi-professionally), it's not easy to make it to every great tournament that's offered in the area.  Michael Scheinberg may be a name followers of the blog may remember, as he made a super deep run in the first ever Isle Casino Poker "live blogged" event (Event 1 of the 2016 Isle Poker Open).  Scheinberg bubbled the final table, finishing in 12th place for $1,414.

While his job in finance keeps his schedule busy, Scheinberg has been able to amass career tournament earnings of over $23,500, and that's only over a two year span. His largest tournament cash also happened to be his first recorded cash, which came here at in a $100,000 Guaranteed event (August 2014).

Scheinberg headlines the next group of notables to be spotted across the field:

Jeffery Burdeen
James Hamburger
Raymond Rickard
Shlomo Maman
Danielle Smith
Hugh Hardy
Claude Ferland
Bruce Smith
Joseph Mancuso

"Where everybody knows your name," it should be playing in the background while walking around today's early tournament field.  It kind of has that feeling of walking into an establishment you frequent, and seeing the same names and faces present.  Today's Flight 1G field is littered with recognizable names and faces, many of which are firing their first bullet of the event:

Lou Stadler
Dhrumel Shah

Posted below are the chip counts of the (76) players to bag chips for tomorrow's Day 2, with Guiseppe Lunetto (615,000) still holding the chip lead.  Lunetto was the Flight 1C chipleader, which also happened to be the largest flight to this point.  If anything, we should see a handful of players flirt with that sized stack to end the day (today), as today's three flights should see the highest attendance of the nine that were played.
