Event 1 (Day 2): Event 1 Ends In Four-Way Chop

"Battles At The Beach"
Event 1 ($175 No Limit Hold'em $125,000 GTD)
Level 33 (Blinds 100,000/200,000/3,000)
Total Entries: 1,301
Players Remaining: 4

Four handed play lasted only a few minutes before players discussed an ICM chop, eventually agreeing to the numbers.

Here are the ICM numbers that the four remaining players agreed to:
  1. Evan Braunstein - $22,252
  2. "Dave" - $21,899
  3. Lisa Teebagy - $18,653
  4. Amer Ibrahim - $15,901

Event 1 (Day 2): 5th Place - Cui ($8,919)

"Battles At The Beach"
Event 1 ($175 No Limit Hold'em $125,000 GTD)
Level 32 (Blinds 100,000/200,000/3,000)
Total Entries: 1,301
Players Remaining: 4

Changfei Cui (Kendall, FL) - 5th Place ($10,718)

Changfei Cui (Kendall, FL) was another player who really had to sit and watch as all of the action surrounded him.  Cui was all-in and risk against Amer Ibrahim, who had doubled up just a few hands prior, and was "playing the rush:"

Cui: J♠ 10♣
Ibrahim: 5♣ 6♣

Runout: 8 Q 2♠ 4♣ 6

Cui couldn't fade Ibrahim's outs heading to the river, and Amer made a pair of sixes to win the pot, and eliminate Cui in 5th place ($8,919).

Event 1 (Day 2): 6th Place - Plate ($7,200)

"Battles At The Beach"
Event 1 ($175 No Limit Hold'em $125,000 GTD)
Level 32 (Blinds 100,000/200,000/3,000)
Total Entries: 1,301
Players Remaining: 5

James Plate (Oakdale, NY) - 6th Place ($7,200)

James Plate (Oakdale, NY) was the chip leader for most of the early stages of Day 2, but watched as the field caught up to him just before dinner.  He'd have an up and down return from that break, actually finding himself all-in at risk a handful of times at the day turned to night.  Plate came to the final table 5 of 10 in chips, but once again watched as the action surrounded him.  Moments ago, James shoved from early position for (7) big blinds, and was called by Evan Braunstein, who had Plate in bad shape.  Braunstein's 9 9♣ would hold against Plate's 4 4, and James would exit the tournament in 6th place ($7,200).

Event 1 (Day 2): 7th Place - Shannon ($5,562)

"Battles At The Beach"
Event 1 ($175 No Limit Hold'em $125,000 GTD)
Level 32 (Blinds 100,000/200,000/3,000)
Total Entries: 1,301
Players Remaining: 6

Mike Shannon (Indiatlantic, FL)

Mike Shannon (Indiatlantic, FL) was the third player to succumb to the increasing blinds and antes.  After Dave opened and Evan Braunstein called, Shannon shoved for less than the open.  The two players checked the flop and turn, until Dave bet on the river after making a flush.  Shannon adds to his impressive career earnings of $328,758, taking home $5,562 for his 7th place finish.

Event 1 (Day 2): Updated Final Table Chip Counts

"Battles At The Beach"
Event 1 ($175 No Limit Hold'em $125,000 GTD)
Level 32 (Blinds 100,000/200,000/3,000)
Total Entries: 1,301
Players Remaining: 7

Here are the updated final table chip counts from break:
  1. Evan Braunstein - 7,800,000
  2. Mike Shannon - 500,000
  3. Amer Ibrahim - 2,300,000
  4. Changfei Cui - 1,300,000
  5. James Plate - 1,600,000
  6. Lisa Teebagy - 4,200,000
  7. Dave - 9,300,000

Event 1 (Day 2): 8th Place - Greenberg ($4,091)

"Battles At The Beach"
Event 1 ($175 No Limit Hold'em $125,000 GTD)
Level 31 (Blinds 80,000/160,000/25,000)
Total Entries: 1,301
Players Remaining: 7

Scott Greenberg (Delray Beach, FL) 8th Place - $4,091

Scott Greenberg (Delray Beach, FL) was the other super short stack at the table, and he ran into the same situation that Mauricio Duarte did.  After Dave opened from UTG, Greenberg shoved for less than the raise (280,000), and ended up with five players calling Richard's open.  Richard would shove (having the table covered) at the 6♠ 2 8♣, and after everyone folded, it would be Dave's A 8against Greenberg's K♣ 9.  Dave ended up making a full house on the river, and Greenberg would be eliminated just moments before break.

Event 1 (Day 2): 9th Place - Duarte ($2,945)

"Battles At The Beach"
Event 1 ($175 No Limit Hold'em $125,000 GTD)
Level 31 (Blinds 80,000/160,000/25,000)
Total Entries: 1,301
Players Remaining: 8

Mauricio Duarte (Coral Gables, FL) 9th Place - $2,945

Mauricio Duarte (Coral Gables, FL) was one of two super short stacks remaining at the final table, and found himself all-in against both James Plate and Evan Braunstein.  We never had an opportunity to see his hand, as action was checked down each street, and Braunstein rolled over a rivered pair of tens.

Event 1 (Day 2): 10th Place - Bell ($1,938)

"Battles At The Beach"
Event 1 ($175 No Limit Hold'em $125,000 GTD)
Level 31 (Blinds 80,000/160,000/25,000)
Total Entries: 1,301
Players Remaining: 9

David Bell (Parkland, FL) - 10th Place ($1,938)

The most accomplished player at the final table was grinding a short stack for the past five levels, but David Bell (Parkland, FL) couldn't fade a tough runout to potentially double up.  With action folding to Bell in late position, he would shove for under (5) big blinds (430,000).  Action folded around to Dave in the big blind, who announced he'd be calling blind.

Bell: K J
Dave: J♠ 7♠

Runout: 2 4♠ 9♣ 8♠ A♠

Bell looked as if he was in good position on the flop, but the turn and river brought running spades, and he'd be the first player eliminated from the final table.

Event 1 (Day 2): Final Table Seating Assignments (Updated Chip Counts)

"Battles At The Beach"
Event 1 ($175 No Limit Hold'em $125,000 GTD)
Level 31 (Blinds 60,000/120,000/20,000)
Total Entries: 1,301
Players Remaining: 10

With the elimination of Dwight Pinkerton in 11th place ($1,938), Event 1 has now reached it's final table.  Here are the new seating assignments after the re-draw, including updated chip counts:
  1. Evan Braunstein - 4,900,000
  2. Mike Shannon - 1,300,000
  3. Amer Ibrahim - 2,700,000
  4. Mauricio Duarte - 700,000
  5. Changfei Cui - 2,400,000
  6. David Bell - 1,000,000
  7. James Plate - 2,000,000
  8. Lisa Teebagy - 4,700,000
  9. Dave - 4,900,000
  10. Scott Greenberg - 1,000,000

Event 1 (Day 2): Event 1 On Final Table Bubble

"Battles At The Beach"
Event 1 ($175 No Limit Hold'em $125,000 GTD)
Level 31 (Blinds 60,000/120,000/20,000)
Total Entries: 1,301
Players Remaining: 11

With the biggest stack only (40) big blinds deep, it was inevitable that action would pick back up once again.  After action folded to Thomas Gari, he'd shove for 1,350,000 from the button.  What he didn't expect is to walk into to huge hands out of the blinds...as Evan Braunstein re-shoved for 1,500,000, and Lisa Teebagy called out of the big (Lisa was the chip leader).

Gari: A♠ 10♥
Braunstein: Q♣ Q♠
Teebagy: A K

Runout: 6 10♣ 4♣ 2♣ 9

Braunstein's pocket queens would hold, eliminating Thomas Gari from the tournament, and essentially earning Evan the triple-up.

Evan Braunstein - 4,500,000 (37.5 BB)
Lisa Teebagy - 3,700,000 (31 BB)

Players Remaining: 16

Coming back from dinner break, we lost two players within the first two hands, as Dominic Pacelli (18th Place) and Barry Sisselman (17 Place) exited the tournament.  The action since then has been slower than we've seen all day, and although the stacks allow room for some play, the chip average just went down to (16) big blinds with the level's transition.

Total Entries: 1,301
Players Remaining: 29

David Bell (Parkland, FL) is back to a manageable stack after tripling up moments ago.  Jay Newcomb would open the action (UTG) by shoving all-in for 385,000, with players folding to David Bell, who would shove all-in for less (335,000).  After action folded around to Yves Ferquiere in the big blind, he also announced that he was all-in (having both players slightly covered):

Bell: K♠ K♣
Newcomb: Q Q♠
Yves: 10♠ 10♣

Runout: 3♣ K J♠ 2♠ 4

The flop would leave both Ferquiere and Newcomb drawing slim, and after the deuce on the turn, Bell was assured of a triple-up.  David is now just over 1,000,000 (17 big blinds), while his two opponents are left with crumbs.

Lisa Teebagy (Boca Raton, FL) is the first player in the field to eclipse the 1,000,000 chip mark.

Player are heading on their first (15) minute break of the day, with action returning to Level 21, and new blinds of 6,000/12,000/2,000.  The chip average of 222,000 is just less than (20) big blinds, which is the stack to blind ratio that should be expected for the next few hours.  The first pay jump has been reached, with players to have cashed to be posted shortly, but we will first update you on some of the counts from across the field:

Lisa Teebagy - 1,100,000
James Plate - 900,000
Brian O'Keefe - 675,000
Ronald Simmons - 560,000

Event 1 (Day 2): Event 1 Field ITM!!!

"Battles At The Beach"
Event 1 ($175 No Limit Hold'em $125,000 GTD)
Level 20 (Blinds 5,000/10,000/1,000)
Total Entries: 1,301
Players Remaining: 130

With action in the main tournament area, as well as the outer tournament tables (that surround the room), it was a task to cover all of the all-ins over the span of hand-for-hand play.  The process lasted (7) hands, which will take (14) minutes off of the tournament clock when play resumes (tournament staff is breaking one table before cards get back in the air).

Patrick Collins (Palm City, FL) assumed he was going to be walking away as the bubble boy, but on the same hand that he was eliminated, a player's stack that never arrived to Day 2 was blinded out.  That means that Collins earns half of the min-cash, with the other half going to the absent player.

One player who had an eventful bubble was Charlie Ciresi (Cincinnati, OH), who was all-in at risk twice during the bubble, surviving both hands.  His second all-in saw him hitting a one-outer on the river to win, as his K♠ K♣ bested his opponents A Q on a A A♠ 10♣ J K board.  Charlie went from a less than ten big blind stack, to a much more manageable 280,000 stack (28 big blinds).

There will be a rush of players to the payout podium over the next (45-60) minutes, with all results posted by pay jump. Coverage will also include the ever important updated chip counts, as well as hand histories as we reach the latter stages of Event 1.

Event 1 (Day 2): Money Bubble Looms (Hand-For-Hand Play To Begin Shortly)

"Battles At The Beach"
Event 1 ($175 No Limit Hold'em $125,000 GTD)
Level 19 (Blinds 4,000/8,000/1,000)
Total Entries: 1,301
Players Remaining: 138

Tournament supervisor Ralph Brandt jumped on the mic for the second time this afternoon, this time relaying the "money bubble" and payouts processes here at the Isle.  Once the field is (2) eliminations from the money, the clock will be paused, and every table will play one hand.  Once that hand has concluded, if we have not lost players (and reached the money), that process will continue on.  It's "hand for hand" play, and 2:00 minutes from the clock will be removed for every hand played, until the field has reached the money.

Event 1 (Day 2): Simmons Starting Off Strong, Grabs The Lead

"Battles At The Beach"
Event 1 ($175 No Limit Hold'em $125,000 GTD)
Level 18 (Blinds 3,000/6,000/500)
Total Entries: 1,301
Players Remaining: 156

Ronald Simmons (Highsprings, FL)

The Day 2 field has already lost (35) players since the start of play (35 minutes ago), which is exactly half the way to the money bubble.  As the shorter stacks are doing everything they can to navigate their way into the money, other players in the field are climbing up the leaderboard.  Ronald Simmons (Highsprings, FL) started the day with 276,500, and happened to be seated at a table with a large amount of chips (compared to the rest spread across the field).  Simmons got involved with another big stack (David Bell) midway through Level 17, and once the smoke cleared, Ronald had doubled through.  He now sits with over 500,000 in front of him, and is the new Event 1 chipleader.

Ronald Simmons - 530,000
David Bell - 130,000
