Saturday, May 6th: Reid Heads "Friday $10k" Chop, $2,000 High Hands Highlight Saturday (And The Kentucky Derby)

ICYMI: Last night's $150 No Limit Hold'em ($10,000 GTD) tournament drew a field of (66) entries, officially ending up with a prize pool of $10,000.  A total of seven places were scheduled to be paid, with a min-cash worth $450, and a first place prize of $3,610.  Play reached the final table just after 11:30pm, but three players were going to walk away empty handed.  Once the money bubble burst, a handful of Isle Poker notables were remaining in contention for the win including Robert Transue, Tom Gity, Leonid Goldshteyn, and John DeSoto.  After Goldshteyn was eliminated in seventh place ($450), Arnold Erenstoft (Coconut Creek, FL), Tom Gity (Pompano Beach, FL), and Robert Transue (N. Lauderdale, FL) followed.  That then left three players, who decided to make a deal, with the difference between first and third only a 5ew hundred dollars.  The numbers from the chop, along with the rest of the payouts are posted below.

  1. Andrew Reid (Aventura, FL) $2,540
  2. John DeSoto (Hialeah, FL) $2,418
  3. Scott Levitt (Delray Beach, FL) $2,302
  4. Robert Transue (N. Lauderdale, FL) $1,000
  5. Tom Gity (Pompano Beach, FL) $730
  6. Arnold Erenstoft (Coconut Creek, FL) $560
  7. Leonid Goldshteyn (Pompano Beach, FL) $450
Tournaments: There are two tournaments on the schedule for the day, with the first beginning at 10:00am ($100 No Limit Hold'em w/ $25 Bounties $3,000 GTD).  The tournament is a "big stacked" event, with a turbo structure, with players sitting down to a starting stack of 18,000 units (and 15 minutes throughout).  The evening event, which starts just before the running of the Kentucky Derby (6:00pm), is a $75 No Limit Hold'em event with a $5,000 guarantee.

Promotions: It's big time today in the poker room, as there are $2,000 high hands every hour from 1:00pm-10:00pm.  Outside of the "Spin To Win" promotion, this is the "richest" day of high hands players will see on the promotion schedule.  The poker room was already going to be busier than usual with the biggest horse race of the year going on, but with this promotion as well, the room is sure to be a buzz.
