Monday, July 10th: Florida State Poker Championships Continues After Great Opening Event

ICYMI: Sunday afternoon saw the return of (216) Event 1 players, first looking to reach the money (200 spots paid), then focused on making a deep run towards the final table.  A triple elimination during hand-for-hand play sent the field into the money (Patrick Somboonsap, James Woodburn, and Andres Morales), and the rush to the payout podium then followed.  The "moving day" portion of the day saw an interesting shift in the landscape, as players that held a large chip lead watched new names and faces climb the leaderboard.  One of those players that was positioning themselves to make a deep run was Doran Malinasky (Hollywood, FL), a high-limit cash-game fixture at the Isle Poker Room, who was playing in his first tournament in a while.  Malinasky, who was one of the shorter stacks to start the day, wasn't the only storyline with a similar subject.  Just before dinner, updated counts from the field saw some names that would lead heading to break, including Alexander Thomas (Gainesville, FL).  Thomas returned to Day 2 with the fourth shortest stack in the field (31,500), but headed to dinner with just over 1,000,000 (41 players remaining).  Post-dinner play began to get shallow, as most of the players held below average stacks, with even chip leaders holding only (20-25) big blinds.  When play reached two tables, rumblings of a potential deal began, and continued through the first redraw of the tournament (with 18 players remaining).  It looked as if the event was going to end at that moment, but last second detractors saw play continue on.  Adam Koppel and Jackie Cohen both scored double eliminations shortly thereafter, followed by Armando Rojas's exit at the hands of Brent Granda.  Granda's winning pot would be the last hand played in the event, as the tournament would end in a thirteen-way chop.  With such shallow stacks, and the potential for drastic leaderboard change at any moment, players agreed to an even chop (opposed to an ICM breakdown).  Posted below are the players to earn $9,923 each, listed in no particular order (there was not an order of finish based on chips):

Tournaments: There are two FSPC events on the schedule today, with Event #3 getting underway at 11:00am ($60 No Limit Hold'em $7,000 GTD).  The event's structure sees players sitting down to starting stacks of 14,000 units, and playing levels lasting (20) minutes throughout.  That tournament is followed at 6:00pm by Event #4 ($130 No Limit Hold'em $25,000 GTD).  The tournament has a similar structure to it's afternoon counterpart, with starting stacks of 16,000 units, and (20) minute levels over the course of the night.

Promotions: Outside of the "standard high hand" promotion, there will be "Turbo High Hands" from 9:00am-12:00pm.  During that window of time, $100 will be awarded to the qualifying high hand every (10) minutes (rollovers apply).

11:00am - FSPC Event #3 - $60 No Limit Hold'em ($7,000 GTD)

- Players will begin with a 14,000 starting stack

- Late and re-entries for the first (8) levels

- Option player "add-on" at the end of Level 10 ($20 for 10,000 tournament chips), with 100% of the "add-on" going to the prize pool 

- Levels are (20) minutes in length

6:00pm - FSPC Event #4 - $130 No Limit Hold'em ($25,000 GTD)

- Players will begin with a 16,000 starting stack

- Late and re-entries for the first (8) levels

- Levels are (20) minutes in length

- All late registrants and re-entries will receive a full stack
