While the players were fairly deep, a heads up hand with pocket aces and pocket ten usually going to end up the way it just did.  Sam opened the final hand, with Daryl Jace three-betting to 1,000,000.  Mayer-Backer then four-bet ripped, and would see the grim news after Jace called.  Jace's A♣ A held up against Mayer-Backer's 10♣ 10 on the Q♣ J6♠ 2 7♠ runout, and Daryl would become the 2017 Florida State Poker Championships $1,500 Main Event champion!

Sam Mayer-Backer has managed to even things up with Daryl Jace, after a big double up moments ago.  After Sam opened and Jace called, the two saw a flop of 6♠ 6 4♠, with Jace checking to Sam.  Sam tossed out a bet of 375,000, and would get check-raised to 1,100,000.  Only a few seconds passed before Sam announced that he was all-in, and after getting an exact count, Jace made the call.  Sam rolled over 7♠ 7, and was ahead of Daryl's K 4♣.  The turn (5) and river (10♠) were clean for Sam, who doubled to 8,100,000.

Daryl Jace - 8,400,000
Sam Mayer-Backer - 8,100,000

The talks of a chop quickly fizzed out, and the cards are back in the air.

Josias Santos (Kissimmee, FL) 3rd Place $64,096

Josias Santos would complete his small blind after Mayer-Backer folded, with Daryl Jace raising to 300,000.  Santos the three-bet ripped for close to 3,000,000, with Jace's eyes opening wide before making the call.  Jace quickly turned over K♠ K♣, with Santos begrudgingly turning over Q♠ 7.  The Q♣ 8 3♠ flop gave everyone at the table a little sweat, but the turn and river would run clean for Jace, eliminating Santos from play.

Daryl Jace and Sam Mayer-Backer are now heads up for the 2017 FSPC Main Event trophy, with the chip counts below:
  1. Sam Mayer-Backer - 2,300,000

Level 30 (Blinds 60,000/120,000/20,000)

Players Remaining: 3/548

Daryl Jace opened to 250,000 from the button, with Sam Mayer-Backer three-bet shoving for 1,100,000.  Josias Santos folded his hand, and Jace quickly made the call, and would be the favorite (Jace held A♣ K against Mayer-Backer's Q 10).  The 10♣ 5 2♠ J 2♣ runout had all of the dramatics, as Sam flopped a pair, but Jace turned a combo draw to go along with his pair outs.  The board would pair on the river though, giving Sam's rail something to cheer about for the first time in a while.

Daryl Jace - 10,200,000
Sam Mayer-Backer - 2,400,000

Level 30 (Blinds 60,000/120,000/20,000)
Total Entries: 548
Players Remaining: 3/548

Abbey Daniels (Coral Springs, FL) 4th Place $45,180

Daryl Jace opened-shoved from the button, with both players in the blinds holding stacks of less than (20) bigs.  Sam Mayer-Backer quickly mucked his hand, followed by Abbey Daniels making the call.   Daniels was racing for her tournament life, holding 6♠ 6 against the A♠ 9♠ of Jace.  With the way things have gone since dinner, it didn't come as much of surprise that there would be an ace on the flop (A♠ K♣ 10).  Daniels would not find a six on the turn or river, making her the fourth place finisher in the event, which was worth $45,180.

If there was a player of the series, Abbey Daniels would be the strong favorite to win.  This was Abbey's second final table of the series (Event #7), and her second five-figure score as well.

Daryl Jace - 10,600,000
Abbey Daniels - 4th Place - $45,180

FSPC Main Event (Day 3): Four Handed Chip Counts, Level Going Up

Total Entries: 548

Every since Daryl Jace won that pot against Josias Santos, he's had full control of the table.  There was a point where he opened six hands in a row, and while a few of those won uncontested, he also won a few pots at showdown as well.  He now has close to half of the chips in play, as the blinds climb once again, this time to 60,000/120,000/20,000.  Posted below are the updated chip counts at the end of Level 29:

  1. Sam Mayer-Backer - 2,100,000

  3. Josias Santos - 4,200,000

Total Entries: 548
Players Remaining: 4/548

Tony Ruberto (Miami, FL) 5th Place ($34,689)

Tony Ruberto was the shortest stack returning from dinner, and continued to trend down as the level reached it's halfway mark.  With only (13) big blinds, Tony shoved from the button after action folded to him, with Abbey Daniels calling out of the big blind.  Abbey's A 9 was well ahead of Ruberto's 8 9, but the J 7♣ 3♣ flop did add a few outs to Ruberto's hand.  The 5♠ on the turn brought even more cards into play for Tony, but the board pairing on the river would end his final table run.

Tony entered this tournament yesterday afternoon, utilizing the Day 2 buy-in option, and running up the 30,000 starting stack into a final table finish ($34,689).

Abbey Daniels - 2,700,000
Tony Ruberto - 5th Place - $34,689

FSPC Main Event (Day 3): Jace Tank-Calls With A Full House, Assumes The Chip Lead

Total Entries: 548
Players Remaining: 5/548

On the turn of a board reading 2 10 9 2, Josias Santos would check to Daryl Jace, with already 600,000 in the pot.  Jace tossed forward a bet of 240,000, and after a few moments, Santos would announce a raise.  He'd then take two stacks of blue chips (equaling 1,000,000), and push them across his cards.  Jace, who is deliberate with most of his decisions, eventually made the call.  After the 10♠ came on the river, Josias pushed forward a stack of pink chips (worth 2,000,000), which was enough to put Jace all-in.

"I don't want you to think I'm slow rolling you.  I have a really big hand...I just think you have quads," Jace said to Santos.  Daryl then spent three minutes talking the hand out to himself, and after that period, looked at the deal and verbalized a call.  Santos helicoptered his hand towards the middle of the table (A 6), with Jace during over Q 10♣.  The full house was good to take down the pot, and Jace would become the final table chip leader.

Daryl Jace - 5,800,000
Josias Santos - 3,400,000

Danny Shiff (Miami, FL) 6th Place $28,630

Just a few hands after losing that sizable pot to Josias Santos, Danny Shiff opened for 160,000, with Santos three-betting to 400,000.  Danny then four-bet rip for 2,500,000, and was immediately called by Santos.  Shiff's A♠ Q was in rough shape against the A♣ K of Santos, and after the J3♣ J♣ J♠ 7♠ runout, Shiff's magical run would be over.

Leading this event from basically the moment he sat down in Flight 1A, Shiff began trending downwards during Level 26, only to see it disappear halfway through Level 28.  The $28,630 that Danny earned for sixth place is his largest cash since 2013 (Lucky Hearts Poker Open).

Josias Santos - 5,500,000
Danny Shiff - 6th Place $28,630

Danny Shiff opened to 160,000, with Josias Santos making the call on the button, and Tony Ruberto also calling from the big blind.  Shiff led for 200,000 on the K♠ Q 4 flop, with Santos calling, and Tony folding his hand.  After the 8 on the turn, Shiff would check-call a 200,000 bet from Santos, and the two saw the board pair with the K on the river.  Danny checked once again, and would toss out a casual call after Santos pushed forward a 500,000 bet.  Santos tabled K♣ 9♣, which was good for the pot, and helped him recoup some of the chips lost to Ruberto.

Shiff is now at chip average, which must feel like peanuts to him, having held the chip lead for most of play in this event.

Josias Santos - 3,800,000
Danny Shiff - 2,700,000

FSPC Main Event (Day 3): Ruberto Doubles Through Santos, Chip Counts At Transition

Level 27 (Blinds 30,000/60,000/10,000)
Total Entries: 548
Players Remaining: 6/548

The action between Tony Ruberto and Josias Santos was picked up on the turn, with a board reading A♠ K♣ 9 5♠.  Ruberto would check to Santos, with Josias knuckling back, and the two seeing the 6on the river.  Tony checked once again, Santos tossed out a 250,000 bet, and Tony gave a few looks back at his cards.  Ruberto eventually looked up at the dealer, and announced a raise to 700,000.  Once the dealer told Josias the action, he verbalized an all-in, with Ruberto immediately calling.

Santos then tabled A A, and after Tony gave the board another look, he rolled over 7 8♣ (having rivered the nuts).  The pot couldn't have come at a better time for Ruberto, who had dipped below (20) big blinds.  He's now over 2,400,000, while the loss puts a dent in the stack of Josias, who drops down to 2,200,000

Tony Rubert0 - 2,300,000
Josias Santos - 2,200,000

This is Newman's fifth final table cash of the summer, including a 10th place finish in the $10,000 No Limit Hold'em Tag Team event at the WSOP ($5,971).

Abbey Daniels - 3,500,000

Michael Amato (Boca Raton, FL) 9th Place $14,219

Michael Amato (Boca Raton, FL) came into the day in the middle of the pack, but was never able to gain much traction as the day progressed.  He was down to just over ten big blinds, and after the table folded around to him in the small blind, he'd shove for 420,000.  Danny Shiff was in the big blind, and announced that he was going to call without looking at his second card (after peeling back an ace).  Amato would turn of K♠ 4, followed by Shiff tabling his A♣ 7.  The Q 2♠ 2♣ 8 J runout would bring no help to Amato, and he would become the second player eliminated from this final table.

This deep run follows a great summer for Amato, who finished third in the $1,000 No Limit Hold'em (Event #63) at the WSOP, earning his largest ever tournament cash ($116,940).

Devon Shalmi (Boca Raton, FL)

After losing that pot to Josias Santos, Devon Shalmi (Boca Raton, FL) was left with less than ten big blinds, eventually getting down to 200,000.  After Michael Newman opened from early position, action folded to Shalmi, who shoved his stack forward.  Once the remaining players folded, Newman tossed in the chips for a call, and the two would be racing.

Shalmi announced that he had a pair, turning over 7♠ 7♣, with Newman tabling A K.  The flop (Q♠ 9 4) and turn (9♠) stayed clean for Devon, but the river would be his demise, as Newman spiked the A♣.  Shalmi wished the rest of the table good luck, before heading to the podium to collect his tenth place money ($11,726).

Josias Santos (Kissimmee, FL)

Action folded around to Devon Shalmi on the button, who would open the pot for a raise.  Both blinds would come along (Santos and Daryl Jace), as the three watched the dealer put out a flop of K K 6.  Santos and Jace checked, allowing Shalmi to continue for 125,000.  Josias Santos would then check-raise to 400,000, with Daryl folding his hand.  Devon thought for a few moments, before announcing that he was all-in, with Santos quickly calling.  Josias was the player at risk, but he'd be in strong position to double, holding K♠ 9♠ against Shalmi's 10 8.  The turn (8&clubs) would pair Shalmi's eight, but he needed a diamond to steal the pot for Josias.  The 2♣ would fall on the river, helping Santos double up to over 2,200,000, and leaving Shalmi with less than 350,000.

Just a few hands back from break, action would fold to Evan Teitelbaum, who was on the button.  He would take both hands and push forward his stack, announcing that he was all-in (440,000).  Tony Rubero folded his small blind, and after peeling back his second card, Devon Shalmi would make the call.  Teitelbaum's A♣ 2 was dominated by the A Q♣ of Shalmi, and after the 9♣ 8♠ 3 K 9♠ run out, Evan would be eliminated in eleventh place ($11,726).

Players are now redrawing for their final table seats, with new assignments and chip counts posted momentarily.

Devon Shalmi - 1,300,000
Evan Teitelbaum - 11th Place - $11,726

Frank Russo (Pompano Beach, FL) 12th Place $11,276

After action at Table 3 folded to Michael Newman, he would open for a raise, with Frank Russo calling out of the small blind.  Both players started the hand with under half the chip average, and after the K♠ 3 4 flop, Russo shoved for close to 400,000.  Newman made the call, turning over his A 5, and waiting for Frank to table his hand.  Russo didn't seem to want to show his holdings, but eventually turned over Q J.  "I need a black jack," Russo said as he stood from the table.  Frank's final table hopes would be dashed after the 3♣ on the turn, and A♣ on the river.

The Pompano Beach local earns his largest cash ($11,276) since 2014, and first tournament score since October of last year (Venetian).

Michael Newman - 1,200,000
Frank Russo - 12th Place - $11,726

FSPC Main Event (Day 3): De La Cerda Triples Up, Daniels Wins Side Pot

Level 24 (Blinds 15,000/30,000/5,000)

We approached Table 1 with Abbey Daniels (500,000) and Israel De La Cerda (145,000) all-in, and Danny Shiff yet to act.  After getting an exact count of the larger stack, Shiff would make the call, and put both players at risk:

Daniels: 6♠ 6♣
De La Cerda: K♠ 7♠
Shiff: A J♣

Board: K 10 7♣ 9♠ 7

De La Cerda would flop two pair, and eventually make a full house on the river to triple-up, with Daniels winning a side pot for Shiff to stay alive.
