Marco Cantizani (Brazil) 10th Place $3,653

After Tom Cuce opened the pot with a raise, action would fold around to Marco Cantzani, who three-bet shoved for just under 700,000.  After the blinds folded behind, Cuce would make the call, flipping with 9 9♠ against Marco's J 10.  The 9 2 3♠ flop gave both players a big sweat, but Cuce pocket pair was able to hold through the turn and river.  Cantizani would be the first player to exit the final table, while Tom Cuce chipped up to 1,600,000.

Thomas Gari (Hollywood, FL)

After making a valiant effort to come back from just one big blind, Thomas Gari (Hollywood, FL) was eliminated moments ago.  He would run top pair into a flopped set of Al Gomez, sending the "August $150,000" to it's final table.  The last redraw of the tournament was just completed, with the following seating assignments at the final table:
  1. Daniel Navarrete
  2. Troy Parra
  3. Marco Cantizani
  4. Al Gomez
  5. Bruce Kahn
  6. Fausto Tersigni
  7. David Gelley
  8. Tom Cuce

"August $150,000" (Day 2): Cuce Thinks It Through...And Then Doubles Through David Gelley

Level 28 (Blinds 30,000/60,000/5,000)
Total Entries: 792
Players Remaining: 11/792

A big hand just played out between David Gelley and Tom Cuce, with the action starting on the flop.  Gelley checked-called a 100,000 bet on the A Q♣ 2♣ flop, and once again check-called on the turn (J), after Cuce bet 225,000.  After the 4 on the river, Gelley would take a few moments, before announcing himself all-in.  David would have Cuce covered, so Tom took some time with his decision, eventually placing a stack of chips across his cards for a call.

"Nice call...you got it," Gelley said, as he tossed 10♣ 7♣ onto the table.  Cuce followed by rolling over A J, doubling up to 1,600,000, and leaving Gelley with 100,000.  David would then manage to double up three consecutive times, and has turned the 100,000 into 1,000,000.

Tom Cuce - 1,600,000
David Gelley - 1,000,000

"August $150,000" (Day 2): Level Is Going Up, Gari Turns Crumbs Into A Meal

"August $150,000 GTD"
$360 No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry)
Level 28 (Blinds 30,000/60,000/5,000)
Total Entries: 792
Players Remaining: 11/792

Level 28 started just moments ago, with the blinds going up to 30,000/60,000/5,000, and a chip average of 1,440,000.  The average stack is just over (20) bigs, which means this is the shallowest we've seen things all day.

Thomas Gari lost a big pot to Al Gomez earlier, as the two were all-in with similar sized stacks, with Gari holding A♠ K to Gomez's A♣ 6♣.  The board would run out A Q♣ 6♠ 8 6, giving Gomez the come from behind victory, and leaving Thomas with 60,000 in chips.  He would proceed to double up three times, and is now sitting with 700,000.

Jennifer Parker (Cutler Bay, FL)

Jennifer Parker (Cutler Bay, FL) was left with less than ten big blinds once the level transition to 25,000/50,000 blinds, and after players folded to her in the small blind, she'd shove into Fausto Tersigni.  Fausto happened to wake up with a hand, but Parker would only be a slight dog, and flipping for her tournament life.  Her A J♠ looked pretty grim against Fausto's 8♠ 8♣ after the A♠ 8 5 flop, with Parker needing a more the favorable runout to come from behind.  It's wasn't to be though, and our last lady in the field would be eliminated, just two spots short of the final table.

Thomas Gari (Hollywood, FL)

Thomas Gari would open form early position, with action folding to Sherie Thoman, who three-bet shoved for 410,000.  The all-in would clear out the button and blinds, which actually turned out to be a tournament-saver for Gari.  Thomas would make the call, and best Sherie, holding A♠ K♠ against her A♣ 10.  The Q♣ 9 7 7♠ 4 runout did give Sherie some extra hope heading to the river, but the extra chop outs never amounted, and she'd be left with 20,000.

Daniel Navarrete was on the button that hand, and told Gari that had Thoman just flatted (or folded), that he was calling with Q J (which would have been the winning hand).

Thomas Gari - 760,000

Erik Nomberg (Dix Hills, NY)

Erik Nomberg (Dix Hills, NY) was just able to recoup the chips he lost to David Gelley, knocking out Jaki Cohen in pretty gross fashion.  On the turn of a board reading 10 8♠ 2 3♠, Cohen was all-in for just over 100,000, with Nomberg making the call.  Jackie rolled over his 10♠ 9♥, and was well ahead of Erik's Q 3.

"I don't want a queen, I want the three," Nomberg said, just before watching the deal peel off the 3♣ on the river.  Cohen took the beat in stride, and headed to the tournament podium to collect his payout ($1,118).

The next break will be the player's (45) minute dinner break, with updated chip count from the field to be posted at that point.

Erik Nomberg - 635,000

David Gelley (Boca Raton, FL)

David Gelley was just all-in and at risk against Erik Nomberg, racing for his tournament life.  Gelley was holding J J♠ against Erik's A♣ K, and would never relinquish the lead on a runout of 9♣ Q♣ 2 J♣ 9.  Nomberg had to match Gelley's 311,000 stack, which would bring David over the 670,000 mark.  This is the first time that Gelley eclipses his Day 2 starting stack since Level 17, which really puts his opening flight performance in perspective.

David Gelley - 675,000
Erik Nomberg - 395,000

Ghassan Toubia (Deerfield Beach, FL)

Megan Endres (Coral Springs, FL) was coming off of a big chop of the $360 No Limit Hold'em event during the Florida State Poker Championships, and seemed to be poised to make another super deep run.  After Endres opened UTG to 25,000, action would fold around to Ghassan Toubia on the button.  Toubia would three-bet shove (860,000), clearing out the blinds, and leaving Endres to make her decision.  Megan would quickly call, and after Ghassan turned over J J♠, Endres would follow by tabling K♠ K♣.

The dealer would fan out a flop of 2 8 9♣, with Jaki Cohen standing and saying to Megan, "You got this."  Just after he said that, the J appeared on the turn, giving Toubia a commanding lead (that Megan wouldn't be able to overcome on the river).  Endres took the loss in stride, wishing her table mates good luck.  Ghassan becomes the first player to eclipse the million chip mark, and leads the five-table field.

Ghassan Toubia - 1,100,000 (91bb)
