"Single-Day Series:" Joshua Hillock Eliminated In Second Place ($31,050), O'Hara Single-Day Series Winner ($51,750)

$2,500 No Limit Hold'em
"Single-Day Series"
Level 21 (Blinds 25,000/50,000/50,000 Ante)
Total Entries: 75
Players Remaining: 1

Ian O'Hara (Boca Raton, FL) "Single Day Series" Winner - $51,750

Joshua Hillock (Orlando, FL) 2nd Place - $31,050

On the final hand of the $2,500 No Limit Hold'em "Single-Day Series," Ian O'Hara opened the button to 125,000, with Joshua making the call.  Hillock would then check-call a 125,000 bet from Ian after the 10 4♣ 3♣ flop.  After the Q on the turn, Hillock would check again, but had a different plan after Ian bet 300,000.  Hillock would check-jam for 2,200,000, will Ian making the call, and the tournament on the line.

Ian was ahead with A♣ 10♠, but would need to fade Hillock's combo draw, as he held 8♣ 9♣.  The river would bring no help for Hillock, who would end up the runner-up finisher in this inaugural Single-Day Series event.

Ian O'Hara earns his seventh title, and brings his total career earnings above $1,850,000.

"Single-Day Series:" Gambino Exits In Third Place ($17,250), Heads-Up Play About To Begin

$2,500 No Limit Hold'em
"Single-Day Series"
Level 21 (Blinds 25,000/50,000/50,000 Ante)
Total Entries: 75
Players Remaining: 2

AJ Gambino (Royersford, PA), who was not pictured, was the shortest of the three stacks returning from break.  Only a few hands in, Gambino would shove over an open from Ian O'Hara, with his all-in called.  AJ was behind, holding 10 8 against Ian's A♠ J, and would be drawing thin after the an A 7♠ 7♣ flop.  Gambino would be drawing dead on the turn, and would end up finishing in third place ($17,250).

The two players are taking a short break before heads-up play, with a discussion of chop going on at the moment.  That discussion lasted only a few minutes, with players deciding to continue on without a deal.  Posted below are the heads-up chip counts:

Ian O'Hara - 5,000,000
Joshua Hillock - 2,500,000

"Single-Day Series:" Richard Kirsch Eliminated In Fourth Place ($15,525)

$2,500 No Limit Hold'em
"Single-Day Series"
Level 21 (Blinds 25,000/50,000/50,000 Ante)
Total Entries: 75
Players Remaining: 3

Richard Kirsch (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) 4th Place - $15,525

Richard Kirsch (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) was third in chips heading to the break, but would be eliminated on the final hand before said break started.  We start the action of his final hand (against Ian O'Hara) on the turn of a board reading A♣ J 9 8♠, after both players checked the flop.  Richard would check the turn, with Ian betting 75,000, and Kirsch announcing a check-raise to 225,000.  O'Hara then put together a three-bet to 500,000, and moments after he pushed that forward, Kirsch would announce himself all-in.  It was an action turn card, as Kirsch made a set of eights (8♣ 8), while O'Hara made the nut-straight (Q♣ 10).  The river brought the 5, and Richard would be eliminated in fourth place, leaving O'Hara with well over half of the chips in play.

"Single-Day Series:" Michael Aron Eliminated In Fifth Place ($13,800)

$2,500 No Limit Hold'em
"Single-Day Series"
Level 21 (Blinds 25,000/50,000/50,000 Ante)
Total Entries: 75
Players Remaining: 3

Michael Aron (Palm Beach, FL) 5th Place - $13,800

After Joshua Hillock's climb from the bottom of the leaderboard, Michael Aron found himself as one of the shortest stacks (close to AJ Gambino), and would open rip the button for just over (20) big blinds.  Hillock would re-ship from the small blind, causing AJ Gambino to release his hand, and Aron would be at risk for his tournament.  Hillock held the lead with A♠ 10 against Aron's Q♠ 8♠, with the J 6 7♣ 7♠ 10♠ runout the last Aron would see in this event.  Michael would earn $13,800 for his fifth place finish, while Joshua moved to second in chips.

Total Entries: 75
Players Remaining: 3

Players are taking another ten minute break, and will be returning to Level 21, with blinds of 25,000/50,000/50,000 ante.  Joshua Hillock had an opportunity to become the chip leader in the middle of Level 20, as he was all-in against Ian O'Hara, holding A♠ Q♠ to Ian's A♣ J♠.  The board would run out 7 4 4♣ K♠ 4, with Ian rivering a chop, and Joshua gaining just half of the ante.  Hillock would then eliminate Michael Aron just before break (post to follow).  Ian O'Hara would then eliminate Richard Kirsch on the last hand of Level 20 (post to follow)  Posted below are the updated chip counts from break:

  1. Joshua Hillock - 2,400,000
  2. AJ Gambino - 700,000
  3. Ian O'Hara -  4,400,000

Level 20 started just moments ago, but the players get a little "breathing room" this transition, as only the ante increases (from 30,000 to 40,000).  The transition from Level 6 to Level 7 was the last time that we saw an increase of this type in the structure.  Posted below are the chip counts from the end of Level 19:

  1. Joshua Hillock - 1,000,000
  2. AJ Gambino - 1,200,000
  3. Richard Kirsch - 2,200,000
  4. Ian O'Hara - 2,100,000

Michael Newman (Nanuet, NY)

Michael Newman (Nanuet, NY) was the shortest stack at the table, and while he managed once already to overcome that scenario, Richard Kirsch cut his night short just moments ago.  The two players were all-in pre, with Kirsch holding A♠ 4♠ against Newman's A 9♠.  Richard would flop of pair of fours to take the lead, and would hold through the runout.  Newman wished his competitors luck, and headed to the podium to collect his sixth place money ($12,075).

"Single-Day Series:" Slowing Going During Level 18, Blinds Going Up Again

"Single-Day Series"
Level 19 (Blinds 20,000/40,000/30,000 Ante)

Level 18 was the slowest of the levels (in terms of action) since the field reached the money, with Michael Newman's double up the only hand where a player was at risk.  Posted below are the updated chip counts at Level 19 begins (Blinds 20,000/40,000/30,000 ante).

  1. Joshua Hillock - 725,000
  2. AJ Gambino - 475,000
  3. Richard Kirsch - 1,075,000
  4. Ian O'Hara - 2,500,000

Listed below are the chip counts as Level 18 starts, with blinds going up to 15,000/30,000/30,000 ante (1,250,000 chip average).  Both short stacks (Michael Newman and Joshua Hillock) doubled towards the end of Level 17, but Newman gave some back in a pot to Ian O'Hara to end the level.

  1. Joshua Hillock - 875,000
  2. AJ Gambino - 900,000
  3. Richard Kirsch - 690,000
  4. Ian O'Hara - 2,400,000
  5. Michael Newman - 390,000

"Single-Day Series:" Aron Takes Massive Pot From Redavid, Jordan Busts Shortly After ($10,350)

"Single-Day Series"
Level 17 (Blinds 10,000/25,000/25,000 Ante)
Total Entries: 75
Players Remaining: 6

Jordan Redavid (Miami, FL)

We would pick up the action in a hand between Michael Aron and Jordan Redavid on the turn, with the board reading Q 10♠ 4 J♠.  Redavid checked to Aron, who put forward a bet of 240,000, which was called by Jordan after some thought.  After the 3♣ on the river, Redavid would check once again, with Aron taking his time to decide his next move.  After cutting out some chips, he would grab four stacks of yellow chips (with a few blue on top), and push forward a river bet of 475,000.  Redavid tossed in a single chip to signify a call, only to see Aron table A K.  Aron's turned broadway would get max value, and he'd chip up to 2,000,000, with Redavid was left with 285,000.

Jordan would be all-in just three hands later, and would be eliminated by Richard Kirsch (Q♠ 10♠ < A K).

"Single-Day Series:" Updated Chip Counts At Break

$2,500 No Limit Hold'em
"Single-Day Series"
Level 17 (Blinds 10,000/25,000/25,000 Ante)
Total Entries: 75
Players Remaining: 7

Players are taking another break, and will be returning to Level 17, with new blinds of 10,000/25,000/25,000 ante (938,000 chip average).  Posted below are the updated chip counts, with an interesting storyline brewing.  Joshua Hillock was super short on the bubble, and was not only able to navigate his way into the money, but survive more than a full level with a sub-ten big blind stack.  He tripled up midway through Level 16, and now has gained some fold equity with his stack.

  1. Joshua Hillock - 375,000
  2. AJ Gambino - 905,000
  3. Jordan Redavid - 1,200,000
  4. Richard Kirsch - 770,000
  5. Ian O'Hara - 2,775,000
  6. Michael Newman - 375,000
  7. Michael Aron - 1,175,000

"Single-Day Series:" Barry Hutter Departs In Eighth Place ($8,625)

$2,500 No Limit Hold'em
"Single-Day Series"
Level 16 (Blinds 10,000/20,000/20,000 Ante)
Total Entries: 75
Players Remaining: 7

Barry Hutter (Bradenton, FL) 8th Place - $8,625

The final table was approached during a hand between Ian O'Hara, Barry Hutter, and Jordan Redavid.  The three would be on a flop of J 8♠ 6♣, with both Ian (small blind) and Barry (big blind) checking to Redavid (the original opener).  Redavid would put out a bet of 130,000, with Ian making the call, and Hutter then check-shoving for 227,000.

Both players made the call, and would check after the 4♣ on the turn.  After the Q♣ completed the board, Ian would put together a bet of 240,000, which didn't please Redavid.  Jordan took some time debating a call, and eventually tossed a chip in, only to see Ian roll over a set of eights (8 8♣).  Hunter tossed his Q♠ J♠ towards the middle of the table, before collecting his things, and walking away.

"Single-Day Series:" Tony Ruberto Out In Ninth Place ($6,900)

$2,500 No Limit Hold'em
"Single-Day Series"
Level 16 (Blinds 10,000/20,000/20,000 Ante)
Total Entries: 75
Players Remaining: 8

Tony Ruberto (Miami, FL)

Tony Ruberto (Miami, FL) found himself super short, and would shove for 60,000, after Michael Newman opened to 40,000 (and Michael Aron flatted behind).  Newman and Aron would toss in the extra 20,000 each, and then check the K 95 flop.  After the J on the turn, Newman would check once more, with Aron betting 100,000.  Michael folded, and once the hands were tabled, Ruberto would see that he was drawing dead.  Aron had turned a straight with Q♠ 10♠, leaving Ruberto's A♣ 4♠ with no outs to win.

"Single-Day Series:" Final Table Seating Assignments, Updated Chip Counts

"Single-Day Series:" Benjamin Out In 10th, Parlays Satellite Seat Into $5,175

$2,500 No Limit Hold'em
"Single-Day Series"
Level 15 (Blinds 8,000/16,000/16,000 Ante)
Total Entries: 75
Players Remaining: 10

Charlemagne Benjamin (Miami Gardens, FL) 10th Place - $5,175

Charlemagne Benjamin (Miami Gardens, FL) was one of the shorter stacks remaining, and after AJ Gambino opened from the button, Benjamin would shove out of the big.  Gambino made the call, and would eliminated Charlemagne, as his A Q♣ bested Benjamin's A 10♠ (2♠ 7 6♠ Q 5♠ runout).  Players are now redrawing for their final table seats, with the new assignments and chip counts to be posted shortly.

"Single-Day Series:" Marsha Wolak Bubbles, Her Kings Bested By Jordan Redavid

$2,500 No Limit Hold'em
"Single-Day Series"
Level 14 (Blinds 7,000/14,000/14,000 Ante)
Total Entries: 75
Players Remaining: 10

Marsha Wolak (Pompano Beach, FL)

On hand number ten of the hand-for-hand process, there would be four players holding less than (15) big blinds.  After action folded to Marsha Wolak (Pompano Beach, FL), she would shove for just over 300,000, with Jordan Redavid re-shoving behind (for over 1,000,000).  AJ Gambino would fold his hand, and it would be the K♠ K of Wolak, up against the A♠ Q♠ of Redavid.

"Oh no," Marsha said, clearly feeling uneasy about the spot, no matter how much of a favorite she was.  Redavid would get the dream flop A 8♠ 9♠, leaving Wolak drawing to two outs.  Neither would amount on the turn or river, with Marsha saying her goodbyes, before exiting the tournament area.  Everyone remaining is now guaranteed at least $5,175, but all eyes are on the $51,750 first place prize.  This tournament has a nine-handed final table, so the redraw will not occur until the next player busts.

"Single-Day Series:" Karp Eliminated By Jordan Redavid, Field On The Bubble

$2,500 No Limit Hold'em
"Single-Day Series"
Level 14 (Blinds 7,000/14,000/14,000 Ante)
Total Entries: 75
Players Remaining: 11

Steve Karp (Miami, FL)

Steve Karp (Miami, FL) found himself with less than (10) big blinds, and shoved from the button for 120,000.  Jordan Redavid would call from the big blind, and be well ahead of Karp, holding A Q♠ against Karp's K 8♠.  Both players flopped pairs, but Redavid's pair of aces would hold through the rest of the runout.  The field is now in hand-for-hand play, and will continue this way until the next elimination, at which point those remaining are in the money.

Jordan Redavid - 1,100,000

"Single-Day Series:" A. Nonymous Departs, Eliminated By Michael Aron

$2,500 No Limit Hold'em
"Single-Day Series"
Level 14 (Blinds 7,000/14,000/14,000 Ante)
Total Entries: 75
Players Remaining: 12

Michael Aron (Palm Beach, FL)

A few hands after doubling up Richard Kirsch, A. Nonymous would shove over an open from Michael Aron.  When action returned to Aron, he would make the call, and be in dominating shape with Q Q against A♠ Q♣.  The runout would bring no help for the player who wished to remain A. Nonymous, and he would bust just three spots short of the money.

Michael Aron - 940,000

"Single-Day Series:" Richard Kirsch Doubles Through A. Nonymous

$2,500 No Limit Hold'em
"Single-Day Series"
Level 13 (Blinds 6,000/12,000/12,000 Ante)
Total Entries: 75
Players Remaining: 14

Richard Kirsch and A. Nonmyous were involved in back-to-back hands, the first with Kirsch shoving over an open from A. Nonymous, eliciting a fold after a few moments.  The next hand, A. Nonymous would open to 28,000, with Kirsch making the call from the button.  After the 2 9♠ 8 flop, it would be A. Nonymous's turn to shove, having Kirsch covered, and putting him in a spot to decide for his tournament life.

Kirsch would take some time, really agonizing about what his action would be, eventually dropping the chips in front for a call.  "Maybe we have the same hand," Kirsch said to his opponent, who let him know that it was unlikely.  A. Nonymous turned over A Q♠, followed by Kirsch tabling J♠ 10, drawing very live to a double.  The 5♣ on the turn was no help to Kirsch, but he would make a pair on the river (10♣), which would be good enough to double to 740,000.

Richard Kirsch - 740,000
A. Nonymous - 270,000

Richard Rice would be eliminated a few hands later by Ian O'Hara, who continues to hold the chip lead.

"Single-Day Series:" Setting The Table, The First $2,500 NLH "Single-Day Series" Underway Shortly

$2,500 No Limit Hold'em
"Single-Day Series"
Level 1 (Blinds 500/1,000/1,000 Ante)
Total Entries: N/A

Months of planning and preparation have been leading up to this moment, as the $2,500 No Limit Hold'em "Single-Day Series" gets underway at 12:00pm.

This tournament is a product of innovation, imagination, and risk...and could not have occurred without help from the great staff/supervisors at the Isle Poker Room, as well as the players input.

The tournament is structured with 100,000 starting stacks, and (30) minute levels.  The big blind will be posting the ante for the table, with ante being "singular."  Players were asking if the big blind has to ante 1,000 for each player in Level 1 (that's not the case).  There is just one ante, which is posted after the big blind.

The tournament's coverage will offer "live look-ins" throughout the day, as well as payouts, results, and recap.

Tuesday, August 22nd: Spotlight On Today's $2,500 NLH "Single-Day Series"

ICYMI: Monday's tournament action saw a little shift from the schedule, as the $130 No Limit Hold'em "Survivor" was replaced by a $275 No Limit Hold'em Satellite into the $2,500 NLH "Single-Day Series" (1 Seat GTD).  Considering this satellite was announced less than one week ago, the showing was very impressive.  A total of (35) entries made up the field, meaning three seats (plus a fourth "cash" spot) would be awarded.  As action got close to the money bubble, players decided to split the cash award into two spots, meaning five players would get paid in the event.  Charlemagne Benjamin, Marsha Wolak, and Peter Fellows will be playing in today's $2,500 No Limit Hold'em "Single-Day Series."

  1. Charlemagne Benjamin ($2,500 Seat)
  2. Peter Fellows ($2,500 Seat)
  3. Marsha Wolak ($2,500 Seat)
  4. Ian Cohen ($625)
  5. Javier Ramirez ($625)
The highlighting event from yesterday began at 6:00pm, as the cards got in the air for the $130 No Limit Hold'em ($25,000 GTD).  The numbers wouldn't disappoint, as a total of (280) entries made up the field, equating to a prize pool of $27,160.  Once that payouts were posted, everyone's eyes were on the $6,081 first place prize, one of the larger numbers you'll see in a daily event.  After years of Isle Casino poker cashes, and numerous close calls, Luke Rosenberg (Parkland, FL) earned his first tournament a win (heading a seven-way chop).
  1. Luke Rosenberg (Parkland, FL) $4,514
  2. Raul Arza (Panama) $3,109
  3. Michael Horton (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $2,590
  4. Francis Garcia (N. Miami, FL) $2,198

Tournaments: Today is a special day in regards to tournaments, as three events make up the schedule. The first tournament on the slate (11:00am) is the $100 No Limit Hold'em "Monster Stack" ($3,000 GTD), structured with starting stacks of 25,000 units, and levels of (20) minutes over the course of the afternoon.

The next tournament is a "special addition" to the schedule, as the $2,500 No Limit Hold'em "Single-Day Series" gets the cards in the air at 12:00pm.  The tournament has a structure that sees players sitting down to starting stacks of 100,000 units, and playing levels of (30) minutes throughout the event.  This tournament will end tonight, with sporadic updates and a recap posted tomorrow.

It's back to the standard daily tournament schedule at 6:00pm, with action getting underway in the $60 No Limit Hold'em ($8,000 GTD) event.  Players in the tournament sit down to starting stacks of 14,000 units, and play (20) minute levels, with an optional add-on at registration's close.
