The nine players to chop Event #1 of the 2017 Isle Open, many of which are earning the largest tournament cashes of their careers (including Gilbert Whorrie, Christopher Gilkey, Dan Saffer, Arno Kruger).
Before any hands were dealt at the final table, the players wanted to hear the ICM numbers, with Tournament Supervisor Rick Mims breaking the numbers down for them.  Eight of the nine players agreed to the numbers that were read aloud, but after some negotiation, the only detractor jumped on board.  Posted below are the final results for Event 1 of the 2017 Isle Open:

Total Event 1 Entries: 1,239
Players Remaining: 9

10.

Larry Bass (Tamarac, FL) was eliminated just as the tournament floor was going to do the final table redraw.  His elimination does count as a final table finish, with Bass earning his largest tournament cash since April of 2014.

11.

Alan Saltzman (Lantana, FL) would be eliminated the hand after Moreno, as he shoved blind versus blind, and ran his Q 7 into Christopher Gilkey's KK♠.  Alan did get his money's worth on his final hand, flopping a diamond draw, and adding straight outs on the turn.  He would end up bricking the river though, and was eliminated just short of the final table.

12.

Steve Moreno (Miami, FL) lost a big flip to Alan Saltzman, with his 10♠ 10♣ falling to A♣ J♣.  The very next hand, Moreno would be all-in for 665,000, flipping again with Q 10♠ against Gilbert Whorrie's 88.  The runout would bring no help to Moreno, as the Isle Poker Room notable bowed out in 12th place ($2,205).

Isle Open Event 1 (Day 2): 13th-15th Places ($1,730)

2017 Isle Open | Event #1
$175 No Limit Hold'em | $100,000 GTD

Total Event 1 Entries: 1,239
Players Remaining: 12

The following players have been eliminated from Event #1 ($175 No Limit Hold'em | $100,000 GTD) of the 2017 Isle Open, and have cashed for $1,730:

13.

Will Oderat (Miami, FL) had less than five big blinds, and after shoving from early position, only needed to get through the blinds.  After a good amount of thought, Thomas Gari would make the call, putting Oderat at risk.  Bill's A 7 was well behind the A8♠ of Gari, with the J♠ 2♠ 5♠ 6 8 runout ending his Event 1 run.

14.

Lascelles Peart (Coconut Creek, FL) was eliminated in 14th place moments ago ($1,730), earning his first tournament cash in over a month.  Peart was getting short, and ran his K♠ 10 in Q♠ Q♣, not able to find a fortunate runout to stay alive.

15.

Michael Russo's (Las Vegas, NV) dream run ended short of his goal, but it was the deepest tournament run he's experienced of his career (in a brick and mortar poker room).  The $1,730 he earned for 15th place is the largest cash of his career, and the first on his resume since 2015.

17.

Eric Piderit (Weston, FL) was eliminated by Arno Kruger, after his Q♠ Q♣ lost the "classic race" to Arno's A♠ K♠.  This is Piderit's second final table cash in a row, after cashing in sixth place during the $365 No Limit Hold'em Freezeout at the WSOP Circuit.

18.

John Magnetta (Boynton Beach, FL) is clearly in good form, making his second final table in as many weeks.  He earned his largest tournament cash during the WSOP Circuit, finishing in 5th place during the $580 buy-in opening event ($35,843).

Luis Santoni (Puerto Rico) sends out some love to his wife, who is following all of today's action on the blog.

With the blinds climbing seemingly every orbit, every pot is super critical at this point.  Moments ago at Table 2, Luis Santoni (Aguada, Puerto Rico) open-shoved for 605,000.  Action then folded to Larry Hirschfield, who re-shoved for less, followed by players folding to Will Oderat in the small blind.  Oderat took a lot of time before making his decision, eventually putting the chips on the felt for a call.  The big blind would release, and Oderat would have two players at risk.

When the cards were tabled, Will would hold the best hand (8♣ 8), up against A Q (Santoni) and A♠ 10 (Hirschfield).  The 4♠ 5 7♣ flop only strengthened Oderat's lead, and after the K on the turn, he'd need to fade one last card.  Unfortunately for Oderat, the Q appeared on the river, giving the 1,500,000 pot to Santoni.  The poker veteran (Santoni) is now peaking for the day, and looking to make his first deep run in an Isle major in a long while.

Luis Santoni - 1,600,000
Will Orderat - 1,000,000

Arno Kruger (Sunny Isles, FL) looked defeated when the cards were tabled for his all-in, but quickly turned to smiles after flopping bottom set.

Christopher Gilkey opened the action at Table 4 to 150,000, with Arno Kruger (Sunny Isles, FL) shoving for 340,000.  After a few folds, action would be on A. Nonymous, who would re-shove for over 500,000.  Gilkey originally asked for a count, but after finding out that Gilbert's stack was in the 500,0000 range, he made the call.

Gilkey quickly turned over his hand (7 7♠), and would be up against the 6♠ 6♣ of Kruger, and A K of A. Nonymous.  Kruger let out a loud yell after the Q♠ 6 4flop, grabbing the lead with bottom set, only needing to fade a seven on the turn or river.  Both streets would run out clean for Arno, who would triple up to over 1,000,000, while Chris won the side pot (eliminating A. Nonymous).

Christopher Gilkey - 2,600,000
Arno Kruger - 1,100,000

The Day 2 storyline to this point has been Christopher Gilkey (Lake Worth, FL), who has almost 1,000,000 more chips than his nearest competitor.

Christopher Gilkey (Lake Worth, FL) returned from break as an overwhelming chip leader, and after a fortunate river moments ago, he continues to pull away from the pack.  Gilkey opened from early position to 58,000 (with big blind of 20,000), with action folding around to the player in the big blind.  After peaking down at his holdings, the player in the big would shove for just over 200,000, with Chris immediately making the call.

Gilkey would be in bad shape though, as his K K♠ ran into A♠ A♣, and needed some help to get out of the hand with a win.  The board would be 8&cubs; 8♥ 9♣ 8 heading to the river, which happened to be the K♣, giving Gilkey a two-out come from behind win.  He now has over 2,300,000 in front of him, and is poised to earn the largest tournament cash of his career (which was $2,690 coming in).

Christopher Gilkey - 2,350,000

Jose Delcid (Pompano Beach, FL) started Day 2 with only 55,000 in chips, but caught fire just before the money bubble, and now finds himself towards the top of the leaderboard.

We mentioned at the beginning of the day, that it doesn't really matter where someone starts Day 2, as long as they just make it there.  We've seen players go wire-to-wire with chip leads, and we've also watched players come from the bottom of the counts to prevail.  The latter is what we are seeing with Jose Delcid (Pompano Beach, FL), who came into the day with 55,000, and was 152 of 172 returning to Day 2.  Jose is now well above the chip average, and is one of the new names on the updated list of chip counts during break.

Players are on a (10) minute break, and will be returning to Level 23, with new blinds of 10,000/20,000/3,000 (434,000).  While the chip average is still above (20) big blinds, the stacks are beginning to get shallow, in this "quicker" structured event.

Joelle Guarino (Parkland, FL) didn't need to make a straight flush to win, but thought "it looked so pretty" when it got there on the river.

Table 4 was approached at the perfect time, as a dramatic hand was unfolding between Cameron Collins, Joelle Guarino, and an unknown player.  The three players were on the flop of 6♣ 7♣ 8♣, with the unknown player all-in, and the two named players still active for a side pot.  After Collins had checked, Guarino went all-in for close to 300,000, which was more than 70% of Cameron's remaining stack.

Collins then exposed his hand (A K♣), yet to have made a decision on his next course of action.  The tournament floor was called over, and Cameron was informed that action was on him.  He eventually pushed his cards towards the muck, and was then informed that he'd be receiving a one-orbit penalty for tabling his hand prematurely.  Guarino would win the 100,000 side pot, but there was still a 200,000 main pot to be decided, with the unknown all-in player tabling Q Q♠.  Joelle would then turn over 10 10, and ask for the nine of clubs, although any club would have given her the lead.  The A♠ hit on the turn, with the table's collective reaction heard across the room, being that it would have given Cameron the lead (had he called).  That was until Joelle's wishes were granted, with the 9♣ hitting the river, giving her the winning straight flush.  She's now over 600,000, and sitting with close to double the chip average.

Joelle Guarino - 615,000
