Isle Open Event #3 (Day 2): Pretty Sick Runout Sees Valdes Vault To The Top

2018 Isle Open | Event #3
$100 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 25 (Blinds 20,000/40,000/40,000)
Total Event #3 Entries: 1,825
Event #3 Players Remaining: 32

Oscar Valdez (Miami, FL) reacted just as one would expect, after someone stealing the lead from two players that flopped sets (after just flopping top pair).

Table 1 was approached just as Nagui Yassa was announcing himself all-in (345,000), with the action prior not yet confirmed.  What we do know, is that Oscar Valdes was next to act (and with a player still behind), and he too would go all-in (for 1,100,000).  Chris Tuck was the third player in the hand, and he had both player covered, so a potential call would make a massive pot.  Tuck stood up and verbalized a call, with the three hands tabled:

Yassa: 9 9
Tuck: 10 10♣
Valdes: A♠ Q♠

Runout: A♣ 10 9♠ J♠ 5♠

Both Tuck and Yassa flopped sets, with Valdes well behind, even though he flopped a pair of aces.  The turn (J♠) was a very interesting one, as it brought Valdes both straight and flush outs.  He'd scream in celebration when the spade hit the river, giving him the pot, and making the new chip leader.

Oscar Valdes - 2,700,000 (67bb)
