Wednesday, February 14th: Players Show The Valentine's Day Love Early, With PLO Returning To The Schedule

ICYMI: Tuesday's tournament action began (at 11:00am) with a $100 No Limit Hold'em event, which had a $3,000 guaranteed prize pool.  After eight levels of open registration, the tournament would close with a total of (48) entries, and an official prize pool of $3,600.  The tournament clock listed six pay spots, with first place scheduled to take home just over $1,400.  Once play reached the money, the action continued down to the point where Steven Spiegelman and Zaki Lichaa were heads up, with the two making a deal to end the event.  Spiegelman took the larger share of the chop, making him the tournament's "declared winner."  The full results from the event are listed below:
  1. Steven Spiegelman (Pompano Beach, FL) $1,148
  2. Zaki Lichaa (Pompano Beach, FL) $1,084
  3. Allen Stern (Boca Raton, FL) $504
  4. Barry Teller (Tamarac, FL) $360
  5. Erkan Demir (Boca Raton, FL) $288
  6. Danny Racer (Hanover, PA) $216
Last night's scheduled tournament was an $80 No Limit Hold'em event, which didn't carry a guarantee.  That didn't deter players from joining in on the action, as the field was comprised of (33) entries.  The prize pool closed at $1,881, and was official listed across five pay spots.  As mentioned in the title of today's post, the players must have been "feeling the early Valentine's Day love," as they agreed to a seven-way deal.  Not only were two extra players awarded money, but the deal was basically even across the board (with two players earning just one dollar less than the others).
  1. Sabas Ferrer (Coral Springs, FL) $269
  2. Robert Blanchette (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $269
  3. Jeffrey Oldakowski (Pompano Beach, FL) $269
  4. Joakim Dag (Pompano Beach, FL) $269
  5. Alain Bleanger (Canada) $269
  6. Richard Desanctis (Pompano Beach, FL) $268
  7. Larry Rheinschmidt (Pompano Beach, FL) $268
Tournaments: Today's recurring schedule starts at 11:00am, with one of the larger guaranteed...and better structured tournaments player will find in the area.  The $150 buy-in event carries a $5,000 guarantee, and is structured with starting stacks of 20,000 units, and levels that last (20) minutes in length.  This is one of the first times we are seeing this event in the afternoon time slot, so it will be interesting to see how the showing is.

After making it's appearance on the recurring schedule for the first time in months, the $150 Pot Limit Omaha ($3,000 GTD) event returns to the Wednesday evening time slot.  The tournament is structured with starting stacks of 12,000 units, and levels that last (20) minutes over the course of the evening.

Promotions: From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am (midnight), with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible (Isle Open events not eligible for high hand) each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.  From 12:00am-9:00am, players are eligible for $100 high hands every hour.

It should also be noted that started back on November 1st, players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand!!!  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).
