Thursday, March 1st: Tardugno And Tanner Head Yesterday's Tournament Action, As We Turn The Calendar Page

ICYMI: The final day of February's tournament action started at 11:00am, with a $150 No Limit Hold'em event, that had a $5,000 guaranteed prize pool.  These large afternoon crowds are becoming commonplace now, as (49) entries made up the field, helping the official prize pool grow to $5,488.  When the payouts were posted, players still remaining learned that seven spots were going to make money, with first place scheduled to take home $2,031.  There would be no deals made at the final table, as action played down to an outright winner, with George Tardugno besting Thomas Symonds to win the event.  Official results from the tournament are listed below:
  1. George Tardugno (Weston, FL) $2,031
  2. Thomas Symonds (Halifax, Nova Scotia) $1,207
  3. Osman Nasir (North Miami, FL) $741
  4. Brian O'Keefe (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $521
  5. Michael O'Rawe (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $412
  6. Maria Villagra (Barcelona, Spain) $329
  7. Al Gomez (Miami Beach, FL) $247
The Pot Limit Omaha action returned last night, with a $150 buy-in event that carried a $3,000 guarantee.  After eight levels of open registration, the field would close with (21) entries, and a prize pool of $3,000.  Three players were scheduled to make the money, with action playing through the money bubble.  After the elimination Richard Desanctis in third place, Robert Tanner and Rajesh Desai made a heads-up deal (with the former taking home first place money).  The official tournament results are listed below:
  1. Robert Tanner (Wellington, FL) $1,400
  2. Rajesh Desai (Randolph, NJ) $1,000
  3. Richard Desanctis (Pompano Beach, FL) $600
Tournaments: The mixed-game action returns to the tournament schedule (t0 kick off March), with a $150 Omaha 8B Hi/Lo event getting underway at 11:00am.  The posted guarantee for the tournament is $2,500, but players can expect numbers much higher than that, as these non-no limit tournaments have been some of the most popular afternoon events.  The tournament is structured with starting stacks of 12,000 units, and levels that last (20) minutes.

No limit returns at 6:00pm, with a $150 No Limit Hold'em "Double Green Chip Bounty," that boasts a $5,000 guarantee.  This tournament was phased from the schedule years back, but is now making it's triumphant return.  Players in the event will be sitting down to starting stacks of 16,000 units, and playing levels that last (20) minutes.  There is a $50 bounty for every player elimination, just adding to the potential return for deep runs.

Promotions: From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am (midnight), with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible (Isle Open events not eligible for high hand) each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.  From 12:00am-9:00am, players are eligible for $100 high hands every hour.

It should also be noted that started back on November 1st, players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand!!!  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).
