Thursday, March 8th: Players "H.O.R.S.E.-in" Around Today, Three Days Until The "Battles" Begin

ICYMI: Wednesday's recurring schedule began with a $150 No Limit Hold'em event, which had a $3,000 guaranteed prize pool.  The tournament would see registration close with (30) total entries making up the field, which equated to a prize pool of $3,360.  Action would eventually end in a heads-up chop, between Brad Collins and Charles Townsend.  Townsend, who earned runner-up honors, has found his name on the payouts numerous times over the past few weeks (since arriving from the Northeast).  The official results from the tournament are listed below:
  1. Brad Collins (Lake Worth, FL) $1,210
  2. Charles Townsend (Dagsboro, DE) $1,209
  3. Yesniel Pulido (Davie, FL) $571
  4. Eric Mutschler (Tarpon Springs, FL) $370
Following the trend of Wednesday's in February, the $150 Pot Limit Omaha tournament would find itself in the evening time slot, boasting a $3,000 guarantee.  After eight levels of open registration, the field would close with (19) total entries.  The intimate field meant there would be some large payouts, with a min-cash worth $600 (and first place scheduled to take home $1,500).  Once the money bubble was burst, and Richard Descantis departed in third place, the final two players agreed to a heads-up deal.  The remaining money was split evenly, giving the tournament two "declared winners:"
  1. James Orphanos (Boca Raton, FL) $1,200
  2. Anthony Vulpis (Pompano Beach, FL) $1,200
  3. Richard Descantis (Pompano Beach, FL) $600
Tournaments: The mixed-game action is front and center this afternoon, as the $150 H.O.R.S.E. event begins at 11:00am.  The $2,500 guarantee is really just a formality, as these Thursday afternoon tournaments have been extremely popular with the players.  The structure sees players sitting down to starting stacks of 12,000 units, and levels that last (20) minutes.  Registration is open through Level 8 (and the break that follows), meaning players have until just before 1:50pm to join the action.

No limit hold'em returns for the evening time slot (6:00pm), as the action begins in the $150 No Limit Hold'em "Double Green Chip Bounty." ($5,000 GTD).  The tournament is structured with starting stacks of 16,000 units, and levels that last (20) minutes over the course of the evening.  Registration is open through Level 8 (and the break that follows), allowing entry until just before 8:50pm.  There is also a $50 bounty in the tournament, awarding two green chips for each player eliminated.

Promotions: From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am (midnight), with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible (Isle Open events not eligible for high hand) each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.  From 12:00am-9:00am, players are eligible for $100 high hands every hour.

It should also be noted that started back on November 1st, players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand!!!  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).
