Uri Kadosh (Davie, FL) becomes the first player to ever defend a championship event title, winning the Battles At The Beach's "main event" in back-to-back years.

Before the cards got in the air for heads-up play, the pair had already made a deal, with Uri Kadosh taking home first place honors (and $98,993).  Marshall White is the tournament's runner-up, and earns himself   $96,660.

Marshall White (Garner, NC) comes to the Isle Poker Room for one of the first times in his career, and ends up recording his third largest score of his illustrious career.

BATB Event #14 ($1,500 NLH Championship): Event #14 Now Heads Up, As Uri Kadosh Eliminates Jake Schwartz In 3rd Place ($51,880)

2018 Battles At The Beach

Jake Schwartz (New York, NY) took his elimination very well, considering he was the runaway chip leader for most of the final table.

It was going to be an uphill climb for Jake Schwartz, considering he held less than ten percent of the chips in play.  After Marshall White folded the button, Uri Kadosh announced himself all-in, putting Jake at a decision for his remaining chips.  Schwartz made the call, and turned over A 8♣, with Uri telling him that he only saw an ace.  Kadosh then tossed his hand on the table, revealing that he had A♣ A (he truly did not know his other card).  Jake would be drawing dead on the turn, and left the table as the Event #14 third place finisher ($51,880).

Heads-up play is about to begin, but the two opponents are taking a quick break prior to action resuming.

  1. Uri Kadosh - 7,300,000 (91bb)
  2. Jake Schwartz - 1,000,000 (12bb)
  3. Marshall White - 4,700,000 (58bb)

BATB Event #14 ($1,500 NLH Championship): Joshua Kay Eliminated In 4th Place ($34,970) By Uri Kadosh

2018 Battles At The Beach

Total Entries: 433
Players Remaining: 3

Joshua Kay (Boca Raton, FL) has started 2018 off very strong, with this result brining his year-to-date earnings north of $85,000.

With Joshua Kay and Jake Schwartz now super short stacks, the ICM implication were high, as the difference between fourth and third place is more than $16,000.  Just a few hands after Kadosh's double-up, he'd call the all-in of Joshua Kay:

Kay: 6♠ 6♦
Kadosh: A♠ J♣

Runout: K♠ Q♣ 10 4 A

Kadosh flopped the nuts, leaving Kay drawing to running outs to win the pot, and stay alive.  Joshua would be drawing dead on the turn, and exited the table as the event's fourth place finisher ($34,970).

BATB Event #14 ($1,500 NLH Championship): Uri Kadosh Wins 7,000,000 Chip Pot From Jake Schwartz

2018 Battles At The Beach
Event #14 | $1,500 NLH Championship ($500,000 GTD)

Level 27 (Blinds 30,000/60,000/10,000) | Structure
Total Entries: 433
Players Remaining: 4

Action folded to Uri Kadosh in the small blind, who would complete the bet, and wait to see what Jake Schwartz did with his option.  Jake decided to raise it to 210,000, with Kadosh three-betting to 850,000.  After just a few moments, Schwartz announced himself all-in, with both players holding over 3,000,000.  Uri made the call, and the defending champion would be at risk for his tournament (along with the largest pot of the tournament):

Kadosh: A♣ K
Schwartz: 8♠ 8

Runout: 7♣ 4♣ A♠ Q♠ 3♣

Seemingly out of nowhere, we would be witnessing the balance of power completely shift, as Jake had to push 3,380,00 over to Kadosh.  Schwartz is now left with 590,000, and is the shortest stack remaining.

Uri Kadosh - 7,100,000
Jake Schwartz - 590,000

BATB Event #14 ($1,500 NLH Championship): Joel Deutsch Falls Victim To Marshall White, Out In 5th Place ($26,883)

2018 Battles At The Beach
Event #14 | $1,500 NLH Championship ($500,000 GTD)

Total Entries: 433

Joel Deutsch (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) takes brings his career tournament earnings just short of $90,000 with this score, which happens to be the second largest on his resume.

Just two hands after the elimination of Qasim Jamhour, action would fold around to Marshall White, who was in the small blind.  White completed the bet (60,000), with Joel Deutsch (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) announcing himself all-in.  Marshall quickly made the call, and would be well ahead, as his J♠ J♣ was up against the A♠ 6 of Deutsch.  White ended up flopping a set, and had Joel drawing dead on the turn.

This result is the second largest of Joel's career, and falls just a few thousand short of career highlighting cash of $27,935 (won during a $235 NLH Daily Deepstacks event at Rio in 2016).

BATB Event #14 ($1,500 NLH Championship): Qasem Jamhour Eliminated In 6th Place ($22,326), On Second Hand After Dinner,

2018 Battles At The Beach

Total Entries: 433
Players Remaining: 5

Qasem Jamhour (Miami, FL) clearly came back from dinner break with a plan...which was do try and double his fifteen blind stack.  While the first shove got through, the second would end up being the last of his tournament.

Coming back as the shortest stack at the final table, Qasem Jamhour shoved over an open from Uri Kadosh, with Uri snap-folding (on the first hand).  Marshall White would open the second hand back, and when action folded to Jamhour, he'd shove once again.  This time he'd find resistance, in a call from Marshall, and the hands would be tabled:

White: A♣ Q♣
Jamhour: A♠ J

Runout: 2♠ 3 4♣ 7♠ Q

Qasim added some chop outs after the flop, but would brick the turn and river, making him the first player to depart the final table post-dinner.  This final table comes just two months after a deep run in the Lucky Hearts Poker Open Main Event, in which he earned $15,284 (28th place).  Today's result sees him walking away with $22,326, which is his largest cash since April of 2016.

Total Entries: 433

Bill Farnan (Jupiter, FL) fell victim to Jake Schwartz's final table run-good, eliminated from play, even after flopping top set.

Bill Farnan (Jupiter, FL) shoved for 370,000 over an open from Jake Schwartz, and after players folded back around to Jake, he would make the call:

Farnan: 8♠ 8♣
Schwartz: Q♠ J♣

Runout: K 8 4♠ 10♣ 9♣

For the second time at the final table, we witnessed an all-in player flop a set...and lose to a straight on the river.  Farnan wished everyone at the table good luck, and headed to the podium to collect his seventh place money ($18,698).  The knockouts of Harwood and Farnan now see Jake over 3,500,000.

BATB Event #14 ($1,500 NLH Championship): Jacobo Fernandez Rides The Short Stack No More, Eliminated In 8th Place ($15,093)

2018 Battles At The Beach

Jacobo Fernandez (Coral Springs, FL) picks up his ninth cash of the year, and third five-figure score since the calendar turned.

Jacobo Fernandez (Coral Springs, FL) did everything in his power to grind the shortest of stacks...basically in the bottom two for the entire day.  After Fernandez called a raise out of the big blind (from Marshall White), he would open shove the A♣ 4 9♣ flop, with White quickly calling:

White: A♠ 4♠ (top and bottom)
Fernandez: 10♣ 5♣ (flush draw)

Turn: K
River: 2

Jacobo ran into Marshall's two-pair, but still had outs to win on the turn and river...neither which amounted.  Fernandez adds to his extremely impressive tournament resume, which was already over $544,000.

BATB Event #14 ($1,500 NLH Championship): Loni Harwood Next To Exit, Out In 9th Place ($11,499)

2018 Battles At The Beach
Event #14 | $1,500 NLH Championship ($500,000 GTD)

Total Entries: 433
Players Remaining: 8

Loni Harwood (Staten Island, NY) continues her good form, but is still looking for her highlighting score at the Isle Poker Room, during one of these major series.

With the second shortest stack at the table, Loni Harwood (Staten Island, NY) shoved (for just over 14 big blinds) after action folded to her on the button.  Uri Kadosh released his hand, and Jake Schwartz called out of the big blind:

Harwood: 6♠ 6♣
Schwartz: K Q♣

Runout: 10♠ J♣ 2 9♠ 6♣

Jake flopped huge against Loni's hand, and left her drawing dead on the turn.  She got the max-needle on the river, making a set that would be no good.  She did leave the table in good spirits though, and went to collect her 9th place money ($11,499).

BATB Event #14 ($1,500 NLH Championship): Rough Runout Sees TJ Shulman Out In 10th Place ($9,739), Kay Wins 2,800,000 Pot

"Well that was a gross way to go," TJ Shulman (Boynton Beach, FL) said after getting knocked out, as his flopped set was bested by a straight on the river.

Jake Schwartz opened the action with a raise to 120,000, with players folding to TJ Shulman, who three-bet shoved for 230,000.  Joshua Kay then announced that he was all-in as well, which elicited quick folds from the players left to act.  After asking for a count of Kay's stack (1,300,000), Schwartz would make the call, giving us the biggest pot of the day:

Shulman: 9♠ 9
Kay: 10♠ 10
Schwartz: A♠ K

Runout: 9 6♠ 8 4 7♣

Shulman flopped top set to grab the lead, with Kay still holding strong in regards to the side pot.  The river would change everything, as Kay made a ten-high straight, which would eliminate TJ Shulman in 10th place ($9,739).

Jake Schwartz - 2,950,000
Joshua Kay - 2,800,000

Fernandez: A♣ K♣
Deutsch: 6♠ 6♣

Runout: Q♠ 4 7♣ 10♠ J♣

Joel was able to fade the flop...and turn...but not the river, as Fernandez made broadway.

Shulman: A♣ 5♠
Kay: 8 8♣

Marshall White would open the action with a raise at Table 1, with players folding around to Mike Morton (Davie, FL), who three-bet shoved for just over twenty big blinds (600,000).  White made the call, putting Morton at risk for his tournament life:

White: A♠ Q♣
Morton: A 9

Runout: 9♠ 4 3 2 Q

Morton was able to spike a nine on the flop, completely flipping the script on the hand, and leaving White now looking for a three-outer (heading to the river).  Marshall was able to find one of the three remaining queens, and Morton would become the final table bubble-boy.

Final table seating assignments will be posted shortly.

BATB Event #14 ($1,500 NLH Championship): Field On Final Table Bubble, After Elimination Of Ginold Cham

While disappointed by the end result, Ginold Cham (Lake Worth, FL) did just earn the largest tournament cash of his career.

Ginold Cham (Lake Worth, FL) got down to 150,000, but was able to manage a double-up towards the end of Level 23.  After opening moments ago, and getting called by Qasim Jamhour (out of the big blind), the two would get to the turn of a 5♠ 5♣ 23 board. Cham would end up shoving turn, but ended up running into a buzzsaw, as Jamhour held 5 3 (having turned a full house).  Ginold was drawing dead (holding A K♠), and would end up exiting the field just two spots short of the final table.

The $9,739 that Cham earned for 12th place is the largest cash of his career, and helps bring his career earnings north of $22,000.

Daniel Genachte (Deerfield Beach, FL) is one of the most loyal Isle Poker tournament players, and a favorite amongst dealers and players.

After losing a chunk of his chips earlier in the day, Daniel Genachte was able to recover, and build his stack back up to 600,000 chips.  He would lose some from that number, and after getting to a turn against Marshall White (in a blind v. blind hand), Genachte would shove for 400,000 on a board of A 6♠ J 7♣.  White dumped the chips across his cards for a call, to the dismay of Genachte, who knew that his hand wasn't best.  Daniel's J♣ 5 needed a lot of help against Marshall's A♣ 4♣, but the river would bring the 10, sending Daniel home in 13th place ($8,088).

Marshall White - 1,780,000

BATB Event #14 ($1,500 NLH Championship): The Hits Keep Coming, As Frederico Dabus Is Eliminated In 14th Place ($8,088)

2018 Battles At The Beach

Level 23 (Blinds 12,000/24,000/4,000) | Structure
Total Entries: 433
Players Remaining: 14

The pace of play continues to occur at a rapid pace, as Frederico Dabus (Doral, FL) goes from 1,200,000 to bust in a matter of three critical hands.  Dabus first lost close to 600,000 to Mike Morton, when he ran pocket jacks into Morton's pocket kings.  A few hands later, he would get it in with A♠ K♣ against the 4♠ 4 of Marshall White, only to see Marshall flop a set.  Moments after that, Dabus would be all-in and at risk with Q Q, against the A♠ J♠ of Daniel Genachte.  Once again, the cards were unkind to Dabus, who watched Genacthe flop an ace, and eliminate him from the tournament.

A very cruel reminder about the absolute roller-coaster that tournament poker it...as Dabus goes from above chip average, to our 14th place finisher ($8,088).

BATB Event #14 ($1,500 NLH Championship): Evan Dollinger Eliminated In 15th Place ($8,088)

2018 Battles At The Beach
Event #14 | $1,500 NLH Championship ($500,000 GTD)

Level 23 (Blinds 12,000/24,000/4,000) | Structure
Total Entries: 433
Players Remaining: 14

It may have seemed like a good spot to shove for Evan Dollinger (Coral Springs, FL), but he walked right into one of the only hands he didn't want to see, the pocket kings of Jake Schwartz.
The plan after break was to grab the updated chip counts, but on the first hand of Level 23, Evan Dollinger would open-shove after players folded to him (for just over 22 big blinds).  The shove from the cutoff was called by Jake Schwartz on the button, with the blinds then releasing their hands:

Dollinger: K♠ 8
Schwartz: K♣ K

Runout: Q♠ 6♣ 2 10 4♠

Jake Schwartz's pure Day 3 run continues, as his picks up another monster, with a player having shoved in front of him.  Dollinger collect $8,088 for his 15th place finish, which is his largest cash since 2015.
