Scott Krautman (Delray Beach, FL) is just a week removed from a final table finish here at the Isle Poker Room, and has hopes of reaching another tomorrow.

Play is now down to it's final three levels, with (29) players hoping to navigate their way to the Flight 1G bagging process.  There are a handful of notables remaining, including Scott Krautman (Delray Beach, FL), who has seen most of his $18,255 tournament earnings won in this very poker room.  Krautman cashed in last weekend's $175 No Limit Hold'em "Double Green Chip Bounty" ($10,000 GTD), and is hoping to parlay that into a nice five-figure score tomorrow.  Other recognizable names still alive include:

Jose Gallegos
Julian Durity
Scott Hecker

Posted below is the official schedule for the 2018 Florida State Poker Championship, which is the tenth anniversary of the prestigious series.  There are (17) primary events over the course of three weeks in July, including four "showcased" events, headed by the $1,500 No Limit Hold'em FSPC Main Event ($500,000 GTD).  The main event is one of the first "post-WSOP" majors, and has grown in popularity (and numbers) each and every year.

Leading up to the main event, there are three other tournaments which carry six-figure guarantees, starting with Event #1.  The $175 No Limit Hold'em opening event has a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool, and eight opening flights for players to choose from.  Running from July 5th through July 9th, the event is sure to see one of the largest fields of the series.   Just a few days after Event #1's conclusion, Event #4 follows with the series' second six-figure guaranteed prize pool, as the $360 No Limit Hold'em event boasts a $200,000 guarantee.  With six flights running from July 12th through July 15th, the tournament will likely see the second largest prize pool of the series (behind the main event).  The third of four "showcased" events is Event #9, as the $1,100 No Limit Hold'em tournament offers yet another $200,000 guaranteed prize pool.  There are four opening flights that run from July 19th through July 22nd, with players returning on July 23rd for Day 2.

In between those events, there are thirteen other options for players to get their hands on a FSPC trophy, including four bounty events, an Omaha 8B Hi/Lo tournament, a Seniors Championship, and the addition of a six-max format.

There is some excited news to follow in regards to the series, as both Scotty Nguyen and Vanessa Russo will be joining us for the FSPC $1,500 Main Event.  While they are in attendance, there will be a schedule meet and greet/autograph session (times and dates to be determined).  Structure sheets and satellite schedule will also be released in the upcoming weeks.

A lot of players think that being featured on the blog brings bad luck, but Steven Costa is a firm believer in the "blog run good."

Just before Table 5 broke, Steven Costa and Michael Corbett got involved in a pot, where both players were all-in pre flop.  They had very similar stacks, so when Costa saw his A K up against Michael's A♠ A♣, he could only lament his situation.  "How does this happen to me," Costa said aloud, as the dealer began to run out the board.  The Q J 2 flop was a very favorable one for Steven, who added both straight and flush outs to his running trips possibility.  The dealer would drop the 8on the turn, completing Costa's flush, and eliminating Corbett from Flight 1G play.  "The blog brought me some luck," Costa said, as he moved his chips over to Table 2.

As of right now, Lebert Grinan is a mystery, with his name not showing any recorded results on Hendon Mob.

Just one level removed from registration's close, Noel Atherley still leads the field, and continues to be the only player above the 100,000 chip mark.  There is a group of players within striking distance of Atherley, including Lebert Grinan, who has 90,000 at this point.  Research on Grinan's name has not yielded any results on Hendon Mob, so his tournament history is unknown.  Listed below are some of the other big stacks in the field, with five scheduled levels remaining in the afternoon:

Noel Atherley - 105,000 (105bb)
Lebert Grinan - 90,000 (90bb)
Daniel Constanza - 80,000 (80bb)
Thedore Vukelich - 80,000 (80bb)
Adam Bienstock - 80,000 (80bb)

The cards are now in the air for Level 9 of Flight 1G, which means registration is officially closed.  The seventh of eight flights attracted the largest field yet, with a total of (130) entries.  Combined with the flights to have come before it, the tournament's total number of entries now sits at (480).  The prize pool is at $63,360, and in order to reach the posted guarantee, Flight 1H needs to sees registration close with at least (278) entries.  That may sound like a lot, but we've seen Saturday evening flights reach that number in the past, and there is nothing stopping tonight's flight to do the same.

Noel Atherley (Lantana, FL) is known (by followers of the blog) as the player to take down Brian Hastings heads-up, to win the Isle Poker Open Event #15 ($1,100 No Limit Hold'em) title.

Noel Atherley, a former Isle Poker Open trophy winner (and veteran of the tournament poker scene), currently leads the field with 100,000.  We are now just a few minutes away from the second break of the day, which also signifies the close of registration for the flight.  Once the numbers from the flight are official, we will give followers an updated look at the combined totals, allowing everyone to know what's needed in tonight's flight to make the guarantee.

In order to get on the blog, it's really just as easy as asking...as Steven Costa (Coconut Creek, FL) found out just a few moments ago.

Steven Costa (Coconut Creek, FL) cut his teeth playing both tournament and cash, but now focuses primarily on the latter.  In fact, he said that the only reason he entered today's flight, was to "get on the blog."  His first goal is now accomplished, but the real end result he would like to see, is a pile of chips in a plastic bag.  This tournament things is nothing new for Costa...in fact it's kind of like riding a bike...once you've seen success, you never forget how to achieve it.  Steven has over $78,000 in live tournament earnings, with his first recorded result coming back in 2011.  His career highlighting score came in 2015, when he chopped Event #8 of the Florida State Poker Championships ($360 No Limit Hold'em).  The result would earn him $32,607, and happens to be just one of nine cashes for Steven since 2015.

Costa helps grow the list of Flight 1G notables, with more late arriving players listed below:

Frank Traino
Zoltan Czinkota
Stanley Aufseeser
William Underdown
Stuart Greenbaum
Dolline Willis
Steven Sondak
Barton Taylor
Karsten Bauer

Albert Barney (Pompano Beach, FL) puts in a lot of hours at the poker table, but it's usually at the cash tables.  Today he is in the Flight 1G field, trying to find himself a bag for tomorrow's Day 2.

Not to harp on a potential overlay, but when it does occur in a large tournament like this, many players that focus on cash decide to join the action.  Albert Barney (Pompano Beach, FL) spends most of his time playing 2/5 NLH and higher, but put the game on the back burner this afternoon, and is now in Flight 1G.  Just because most of his volume is at the cash tables, Barney does have a solid tournament resume, with over $16,000 in live earnings.  Albert's most recent result came during the Battles At The Beach, when he finished third in Event #5 ($130 No Limit Hold'em), earning $2,052.

Albert tops our second look at notables in the field, which continues to grow larger, as the field eclipses the century mark:

Michael Corbett
Donald Gordon
Joseph Mancuso
David Albertson
Edward Novak
Jose Gallegos
Jason Atherley
Morris Heider
Marc Duquette

Total Flight 1G Entries: 96

Scott Hecker (Boca Raton, FL) may not have been featured numerous times on the blog, but many of the players in the field know who he is, having been a poker room supervisor as a Florida-based poker room for years.

With the word of a potential overlay spreading across the community, we are seeing a lot of new faces across this Flight 1G field.  While Scott Hecker (Boca Raton, FL) may not be familiar to those that follow the blog, he has been seeing some recent tournament success.  Scott has two final table cashes in the last month, including a win in a recurring $100 No Limit Hold'em event here at the Isle Poker Room ($1,502).  Hecker has just under $50,000 in live tournament earnings, a majority of which was won in a year's' period (2016-2017).  Scott's largest tournament score came back in 2016, when he chopped a $130 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD) event at Coconut Creek ($9,283).

Hecker headlines the first look at notables in the field, as we feature some names that aren't as familiar to the blog:

Thomas Puccio
Jerry Willis
Russell Friedman
Rafiki Brown
Joao Santos
Brenda Nelson
Jay Feierstadt
Willie Wiggins

After three days of action, we have reached the final pair of opening flights for the $175 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD), with a strong showing needed to reach the guarantee.  The first six flights have seen a combined total of (350) entries, with (47) players bagging chips for tomorrow's Day 2.  In order to meet the $100,000 guaranteed number, the tournament needs a total of (408) entries over these final two flights, which is definitely an attainable number.  The "overlay alert" is still a real thing though, as the word is spreading across the poker community.  Flight 1G will really determine whether or not we see an overlay, so we will keep a close eye on the number of entries over the course of the afternoon.

Players are just now settling in their seats, so we will update blog followers on the Day 2 chip counts to this point, before focusing on the notables in today's field.

Saturday, June 9th: Officially An Overlay Alert, Two Flights Remain For $175 NLH ($100,000 GTD)

ICYMI: Friday's schedule hosted the third pair of starting flights for the $175 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD), beginning with Flight 1E at 11:00am.  The field would end up being the largest of those to have played to that point, with (55) entries at registration's close.  John Sheirich (Daytona, FL) led the eight players that bagged chips for Day 2, packing 174,000 into his bag at the conclusion of Level 16.  A full list of counts from Flight 1E can be found below:

Just as players were finishing up the bagging process for Flight 1E, the Flight 1F action got underway, with the cards in the air at 6:00pm.  The sixth opening flight would eventually become the first to eclipse the century mark (in regards to field size), as registration closed with exactly (100) entries.  Play would conclude at the end of Level 16, with (15) players successfully reaching the bagging process, led by Antoine Bahi (237,300).  Full Flight 1F chip counts are listed below:

Tournaments: As mentioned above, today is the final pair of starting flights for the $175 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD).  The opportunities for players to join the action begin at 11:00am (Flight 1G) and 6:00pm (Flight 1H), with both flights boasting open registration through Level 8.  Each flight is structured with 15,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (25) minutes.  Play is scheduled to conclude after Level 16, or if the 10% mark is reach, whichever is to happen first.

Promotions: From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am (midnight), with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible (each half-hour) for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.
