Zachary Mullennix (Pittsburgh, PA) has been putting in more tournament time this year, and it has definitely shown in his results (over $40,000 in recording earnings in 2018).

Players returned from their last break just moments ago, and are ready to wrap up this fifth starting flight of Event #6 ($360 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD).  Of the (16) players that are still active, none are above 200,000, as one time chip leader Robert Perry, has dipped down below that mark. One player to have trended in the right direction has been Zachary Mullennix (Pittsburgh, PA).  Zach had hovering around chip average for most of the day, but is now over 140,000.  Zach's last result here at the Isle came during the Card Player Poker Tour Main Event ($1,100 No Limit Hold'em), when he finished in 7th place ($10,183).

Isle Open Event #6 (Flight 1E): Registration Closes With (63) Entries, With The $100,000 Posted Number In Reach For This Evening's Flight

2018 Isle Open | Event #6
$360 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 9 (Blinds 500/1,000/1,000)
Total Flight 1E Entries: 63
Flight 1E Players Remaining: 30

The second break of the day concluded just a few minutes ago, meaning registration is now closed for Flight 1E of Event #6 ($360 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD).  The field ended up with (63) entries, of which (30) are still remaining, hoping to reach the flight's bagging process.  The $18,900 from the flight brings the total number to $82,200, with the guarantee likely to be surpassed this evening.  There are currently players trying to grab a seat via the $90 No Limit Hold'em satellite that's running, along with Flight 1F upcoming at 6:00pm.

Isle Open Event #6 (Flight 1E): Tom Gity Going To The Registration Break With Chip Lead, Looking To Reach Some Lofty Goals

2018 Isle Open | Event #6
$360 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 8 (Blinds 400/800/800)
Total Flight 1E Entries: 61

Tom Gity (Pompano Beach, FL) has his sights set high, wanting to see his name atop the "all-time cashes" list for the Isle Poker Room.

Tom Gity (Pompano Park, FL) plays tournaments with one goal (outside of winning)...get to the top of the "all-time cashes" list here at the Isle Casino Pompano Park Poker Room.  With (45) recorded Isle Poker cashes lifetime, Gity sits in sixth place on the list, behind the following players: Robert Transue, Kenneth Bruno, Daniel Genachte, Raminder Singh, Irwin Block, and John Magnetta.  Transue sits atop the list with (65) cashes, and with all of those names still putting in good volume, it's going to take special work from Gity to eclipse their numbers.

Tom is currently positioning himself towards another result, as he enters Level 8 with the chip lead.  This is the final level with open registration, with the window closing once the first hand is dealt in Level 9.  After play resumes post-break, we will bring you the first look at updated chip counts from the field.

Tom Gity - 115,000 (143bb)

Isle Open Event #6 (Flight 1E): Jonathan Marcu Not Feeling The Love From The Blog

2018 Isle Open | Event #6
$360 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 7 (Blinds 300/600/600)
Total Flight 1E Entries: 58

Jonathan Marcu (Coconut Creek, FL) has been making some noise in tournaments this year, after a three-year gap with no recorded results on Hendon Mob.

Jonathan Marcu (Coconut Creek, FL) entered the field just after break, and made a mention of never being featured, during the live blogged coverage.  That's one way to get on the blog...but Marcu's play since he sat down has caught the attention of the media.  In the hour since Marcu joined the action, he's more than tripled his starting stack, and vaulted up the leaderboard.

After a single cash in 2015, Marcu went close to three years without recorded another tournament result.  Since May of this year, he's went on to cash in six events (recorded), totaling over $5,600 in earnings.  Four of Jonathan's six lifetime results have come here at the Isle Poker Room, highlighted by a second place finish in a $250 No Limit Hold'em "Black Chip Bounty" ($1,916).

Jonathan Marcu - 77,000 (128bb)

Isle Open Event #6 (Flight 1E): Early Signs That It Might Just Be Shawn Brenna's Day

2018 Isle Open | Event #6
$360 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 6 (Blinds 300/500/500)
Total Flight 1E Entries: 53

Sean Brenna tried to isolate against a short-stacks shove, but found himself involved in a (150+) big blind pot.

Table 2 was approached just as the pre-flop action was finished, with three players all-in.  An unknown player was all-in for 3,500, along with Sean Brenna, who was all-in for 36,400.  Ido Ashkenazi was the third player in the hand, and he'd have both of his opponents covered.  Once it was determined that Brenna was in fact all-in (some chips didn't enter the pot, but he verbalized action), the cards were tabled:

Brenna: Q Q♣
Ashkenazi: 10 10♠
A. Nonymous: Q♠ 5

Runout: K 8♠ 6♠ 8 6♣

The board ran out clean for Brenna's pocket queens, and he'd more than double up to 80,000.  "You're running pretty good today, spiking a king against those aces as well," Ashkenazi said to Brenna, as he watched his chips pushed the way of Sean.  Coming out a winner with kings against aces is always a sign of good run, with this spot just strengthening the theory, that it may be a good day for Shawn Brenna.

Shawn Brenna - 80,000 (160bb)

Isle Open Event #6 (Flight 1E): Early Action A Little Boring For Ashkenazi, So He Decides To Spice Things Up

2018 Isle Open | Event #6
$360 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 5 (Blinds 200/400/400)
Total Flight 1E Entries: 49

Ido Ashkenazi (Davie, FL) is a tournament veteran here in South Florida, with his sights on eclipsing the $1,000,000 mark in lifetime earnings.

During Level 3, Ido Ashkenazi (Davie, FL) wasn't quite excited enough with the action at the table, so he decided to loosen things up a bit.  He announced a straddle, putting up a raise to 400 from under-the-gun (without looking at his cards), which is just a blind raise in tournament play (opposed to cash, where the player straddling has an option).  The hand played out with five players calling his blind raise, and the initial bettor on the flop taking things down.

While the "straddle" didn't open things up much at the table, Ashkenazi has been able to accumulate chips nonetheless.  He returned from break with just over 80,000, which looks to be leading the field at the moment.

Ido Ashkenazi - 80,000 (200b)

Isle Open Event #6 (Flight 1E): After Coming Within Arm's Reach Of The Event #3 Trophy, Daniel Diamond Returns To The Felt

2018 Isle Open | Event #6
$360 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 4 (Blinds 200/300/300)
Total Flight 1E Entries: 42

Daniel Diamond (Plantation, FL) experienced the good side of variance this past Monday, as he rode his run good all the way to the Event #3 final table (eventually finishing second).

Earlier in the week (Monday to be specific), Daniel Diamond (Plantation, FL) returned to Day 2 of Event #3 ($100 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD) with 244,000.  That was a top twenty stack of those that returned, and from the moment he sat down, Diamond never found himself out of the top of the leaderboard.  He would quietly make his way to the final table, eventually finding himself heads-up with Joshua Beckley.  By that time, Diamond was feeling the fatigue of a long day, and offered Joshua an even chop (even though Daniel held the chip lead).  Beckley declined, and after close to an hour of heads-up play, Diamond fell to the former WSOP Main Event runner-up.  While he may have fallen short of his ultimate goal, Daniel did earn $15,785 for second place, which was more than double his career earnings coming into the tournament.

After a few days off, Diamond is back in action, sitting down at Table 4 during Level 2.  It's going to be hard to repeat that feat, but Daniel is focused on finding another Day 2 bag.

Players are going to be heading on the first break of the day at the end of this level, which signifies the midway point of open registration for Flight 1E.

Isle Open Event #6 (Flight 1E): Bypassing The "Mothership" For Some Tournament Poker

2018 Isle Open | Event #6

Level 3 (Blinds 100/200/200)
Total Flight 1E Entries: 39

Joseph Schwartz (Boca Raton, FL) rarely misses the "big" Phish shows, but bypassed this weekend's run at Hampton Coliseum, for a shot at an Isle Open trophy.

Joseph Schwartz (Boca Raton, FL) is very much into music, with one of his favorite bands being Phish (for those that don't know, they are commonly compared to the Grateful Dead, because of music style and fan culture).  Fans of the band will agree, that one of the best venues to see Phish is Hampton Coliseum, which is in the state of Virginia.  Currently on their fall tour, Phish is playing at the "mothership" (a fan given nick man for the Coliseum) this weekend, but Schwartz is passing on the shows.  Instead, he's in today's afternoon flight, hoping to bag chips for Sunday's Day 2.

Followers of the blog may remember Schwartz from June's $175 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD) event, when he took fourth place money, in a chop that ended the tournament.  Schwartz received $8,500 for the result, which is his largest tournament cash to date.  Schwartz has recorded one result since that career highlighting score, finishing second in an Aria daily ($240 No Limit Hold'em) last month.

Joseph headlines the first look at notables in today's field, joining the likes of:

A fifth group of players are settling into their seats now, ready to join the players who have booked tickets to Sunday's Day 2.  The first hand of Flight 1E will be dealt in just moments, and while we allow the tournament area to fill up, we'll start coverage with a post that contains official Day 2 chip counts (from Flight 1A through Flight 1D).

Tournaments: Event #6 ($360 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD) has reached it's halfway point, with four flights remaining.  Two of those flights are on today's schedule, with Flight 1E at 11:00am, and Flight 1F at 6:00pm.  The structures mirror that of the flights that came before it, with 25,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (30) minutes (Level 1-13).  Registration is open through Level 8 (and the break that follows), with play scheduled to end at the conclusion of Level 16 (or if the field reaches the 10% mark).

Sandwiched between the pair of flights, is a $90 No Limit Hold'em Satellite Into Event #6, which guarantees 5 seats (and starts at 3:00pm).

Promotions: The high hand period runs from 10:00am-12:00am (midnight), with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.  From 12:00am-9:00am, players are eligible for $100 high hands every hour.

It should also be noted that players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand.  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).

In addition to the "standard" high hands, from 6:00pm through 12:00am, players are eligible for the "Super High Hands."
