Due to the approaching Hurricane Dorian and the strong possibility of hurricane force winds as early as Saturday.  We are currently postponing this Saturday and Sunday’s flights, as well as Monday’s Day 2, with the intention of continuing it next week on Saturday/Sunday/Monday 9/7-9/9/19.  The safety of our customers and staff are utmost importance and we will re-evaluate this decision based on the storm’s effect.

Friday, August 30th: "Chip Buster" Continues On, As We Keep A Close Eye On Hurricane Dorian

ICYMI: Thursday's tournament schedule hosted the second pair of starting flights for the $175 No Limit Hold'em "Chip Buster" ($100,000 GTD), an event that now finds itself up against Hurricane Dorian (more on that later).  The storm didn't deter players yesterday, as the pair of flights attracted a total of (125) entries, (59) of which came from Flight 1C.  From that total, (9) players bagged chips for Day 2, led by Matthew Bretzfield (634,000).  Official chip counts from Flight 1C are listed below:

Matthew Bretzfield - 634,000
Frank Giordano - 461,000
Hoa Lang - 421,000
Charles Odenz - 358,000
Jordan Shamah - 299,000
John Ambrosi - 251,000
Alan Dobrow - 242,000
Sebastian Martinez - 208,000
Allan Bieler - 174,000

The evening flight (Flight 1D) ended up being the larger of the two, as registration closed with (66) entries.  In the early Friday morning hours, (8) players remained to bag chips (after the conclusion of Level 16), led by Scott Sommer (987,000).  Sommer now has the overall chip lead heading to Day 2, with the rest of the Flight 1D chip counts listed below:

Scott Sommer - 987,000
Juan Solares - 697,000
Robert Midgette - 429,000

James Oliver - 187,000
Paul Lopez - 81,000

After four completed flights, the "Chip Buster" now has a total of (292) entries, of which (42) players have bagged for Day 2.  The current prize pool stands at $39,420, which is still on pace to eclipse the guarantee.

Hurricane Update: A lot of players have been inquiring about any changes to the tournament, in correlation with the impending hurricane.  As of right now, the tournament is scheduled to run normally (with ten total flights, and Day 2 on Monday), but the powers that be are keeping a close eye on the storm.  If there are any changes, you can be sure to read about them here on the blog, see them posted in the poker room, or updated on Twitter (@PokerIslePP).

Tournament: Today's schedule hosts the third pair of starting flights, for the $175 No Limit Hold'em "Chip Buster" ($100,000 GTD). The tournament is structured with 50,000 unit starting stacks, (30) minute levels, and has registration that is open through Level 8.  There are (6) flights over the next three days, with an 11:00am and 6:00pm option (Friday-Sunday), and Day 2 on Monday.

Promotions: Things begin with the "Full House Promo," which opens the doors seven day a week!!!  The proceedings begin once the doors of the poker room open, with the first (25) full houses made, earning a $50 prize.  Each jackpot eligible cash game is included in the promotion, with two rules to keep in mind, when thinking about winning the $50.  In order to be eligible, the full house must be made using two cards, and must be the winning hand.

The "standard" high hands will be awarding $150 every (20) minutes (from 9:00am-6:00pm).  Every jackpot game is eligible for the same amount, with the full $150 being rewarded, regardless of one or two cards being used to make the high hand.  For those players in tournaments, two-card high hands are worth $100, with one-card high hands walking away with $50.

From 6:00pm-12:00am, the high hands will still be awarded every (30) minutes, but the winning amount goes up to $500 (for high hands using both cards).  Those winning high hands that are made using one card (during that time period), will be awarded $250.

From 12:00am-9:00am (Saturday), the high hand will be awarded $100 every (60) minutes.
