Thursday, January 2nd: David Coughlin Leads The Group To Bag From Opening Day Of $200 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD), With Second Pair Of Flights On Tap Today

ICYMI: Yesterday was not only the first day of a new decade, but it was the first day of the $200 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD).  The tournament got off to a very strong start, as FLight 1A attracted a total of (80) entries.  From that number, (11) players succesfully reached the bagging process, which was almost double that of Flight 1B.  The evening flight saw registration close with a total of (47) entries, of which (6) players bagged chips.  David Coughlin (553,500) led the group of (17) from the opening day of action, with the combined list of chips counts from Flight 1A and Flight 1B listed below:

David Coughlin - 552,500
Don Flynn - 424,000
Rene Allard - 422,500
"Bramy" - 349,000
Elliot Goldman - 325,000
Maan Thakur - 289,000
Garrick Young - 248,000
Marc Wolfe - 168,000
Richard Shoemaker - 148,000
Steve Disorbo - 139,000
Kenneth Bruno - 137,000
Steve Raeman - 128,000
Jose Parra - 110,000
Claudio Khalil - 98,000
Shaun Glennon - 90,500
Louis Raton - 77,000
Jordan Shamah - 72,000
Chien Chiu - 30,000

The combined (127) entries from both flights, equates to a running prize pool of $20,320.  It's slightly slower than the pace needed to eclipse the $100,000 mark, but the numbers are only expected to grow, as we approach the first weekend of the year.

Tournaments: There is absolutely no waiting in 2020, as we jump right into a $200 No Limit Hold'em event, that carries a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool.  Today's schedule hosts the second pair of opening flights, with Flight 1C getting underway at 11:00am, followed by Flight 1D at 6:00pm.  Each of the flights are structured with 30,000 unit starting stacks, (30) minute levels, and have registration open through Level 8 (and the break that follows).  Action is scheduled to play through Level 14, or if the field reaches the 10% mark, whichever comes first.  Those players that succesfully bag chips, will return for Day 2 on Sunday (January 5th), with action resuming at 12:00pm.

Those players that are interested in joining the action for a fraction of the price, have the opportunity to play in a $45 No Limit Hold'em Satellite, which gets underway at 2:00pm.  There is a satellite running each day, from Thursday through Saturday.

Promotions: The "Turbo High Hands" were well received in December, and they have found a home in January as well.  Beginning at 9:00am (every day of the week), $100 high hands will be awarded every (10) minutes, with rollovers applying.  Because of those rollovers, we have seen the 9:00am-12:00pm period award prizes of $400...$700...even $1,000, over the past month.

The standard high hand promotion then takes over, and runs from 12:00pm-12:00am.  Qualifying high hands will be awarded $300, given away every (30) minutes (no rollovers).  During that period, if the winning high hand is made using one card, a $150 prize will be awarded.  For those players playing in a tournament, winning high hands will be paid out $100.

From 12:00am-3:00am, $50 high hands will be awarded every (60) minutes.
