Saturday, June 24th: Special $15,000 GTD Slides Into Saturday Night Slot

ICYMI: Friday night's have seen three different tournaments in the evening time slot this month, with yesterday being the first time a "repeat" was on the schedule.  The last time the $75 No Limit Hold'em ($5,000 GTD) was run (June 2nd), the tournament attracted a field of (98) entries.  Last night's installment cracked the century mark, and ended up with a total of (110) entries, of which fourteen would reach the money.  The posted first place prize would be just over $2,000, but the eventual winner of the event ended up walking out with $1,529.  Alfredo Gonzalez (Miami, FL) was the declared winner in a four-way chop, with Isle Poker regular Donald Gordon taking second, Fredrick Attias third, and Sam Costa rounding off the deal.  Over $4,500 remained of the $6,880 prize pool for the players to figure out how to split, and because of discrepancies in chop stacks, Gonzalez and Gordon received the lion's share of the prize money.

  1. Alfredo Gonzalez (Miami, FL) $1,529
  2. Donald Gordon (Boynton Beach, FL) $1,496
  3. Fredrick Attias (Boca Raton, FL) $785

Tournaments: This Saturday morning starts off just like so many in the past, with the $100 No Limit Hold'em "Big Stack Turbo Bounty" ($3,000 GTD) starting at 11:00am.  The staple Saturday afternoon event sees players sitting down to starting stacks of 18,000 units, and playing (15) minutes throughout the event.

The "special" event begins at 6:00pm, as the cards start flying in the $120 No Limit Hold'em ($15,000 GTD) tournament.  With a "mid-major" type structure, the event sees players sitting down to starting stacks of 25,000 units, and playing levels that start at (20) minutes, and transition to (25) minutes towards the later stages of the tournament.

Promotions: The high hand promotions take another "breather" today, between yesterday's (11) hours worth of "turbo" high hands, tomorrow's (7) hours of $300 high hands (awarded every 15 minutes).  The "standard high hand" procedure is in place, awarded prizes to qualifying high hands every (30) minutes (with rollovers).
