Tuesday, July 4th: Celebrating Fourth Of July With Some "Fireworks" In The Poker Room

ICYMI: With a lot of players having the day off from work for the holidays, both of yesterday's tournaments saw a boost in attendance.  The $80 No Limit Hold'em w/ $10 Bounties ($2,000 GTD) tournament got the day started at 11:00am, and eclipsed the guarantee with more than an hour remaining in open registration.  Five players of the (38) entries would reach the money, with the posted first place prize just over $740.  The scheduled payouts were altered after the elimination of Brian Baris, with the final four players agreeing to an ICM chop.

  1. David Padilla (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $527
  2. "Richie Tenenbaum" (Boca Raton, FL) $454
  3. Paul Efron (Coconut Creek, FL) $421
  4. Andrew Davis (Delray Beach, FL) $306
  5. Brian Baris (Tamarac, FL) $148
At 6:00pm, when the tournament area was filling up with players in the $60 No Limit Hold'em ($12,000 GTD), it was clear that things were going to be busy.  By the time the registration window closed after Level 8, there were a total of (306) entries in the field.  The prize pool surpassed the guarantee by over $2,000 dollars, officially $14,194.  The payouts would see (39) players paid in the event, and a first place prize of $3,106.  Some notables to cash short of the final table included names like Luis Guarda, Kevin McGillicuddy, Janet Solov, Ian Bishop, Danny Blackburn, and Alfredo Gonzalez.  After three eliminations at the final table, the remaining players agreed to a chop, with Rick Kalgstein (Sunrise, FL) taking home first place money worth $2,000.
  1. Rick Kalgstein (Sunrise, FL) $2,000
  2. Jeff Shertzer (Hollywood, FL) $1,733
  3. Lowell Schoonmaker (Davie, FL) $1,292
  4. John Sailey (Lighthouse Point, FL) $1,278
  5. Daniel Koehler (Pompano Beach, FL) $1,141
  6. David Licht (New York, NY) $918
  7. Frank Nemanic (Coconut Creek, FL) $918
Tournaments: Before the beginning of the 2017 Florida State Poker Championships (Wednesday), there are two tournaments on today's daily schedule.  The first is the $100 No Limit Hold'em "Monster Stack" ($3,000 GTD), a tournament that finds itself on three different afternoon slots each week.  The "fireworks" begin at 6:00pm though, as the $130 No Limit Hold'em ($20,000 GTD) offers up somewhat of an "appetizer" to the massive guarantees players will see over the next four weeks.

Promotions: Today's special high hand promotion wraps up a weekend that's seen heaps of money awarded to players since Friday.  While the regularly schedule "Limit Hold'em Early Bird" promotion begins when the doors open at 9:00am, it's the "Turbo High Hands" that run from 10:00am-8:00pm that will see the crowds flock to.  Qualifying high hands during that period will earn $400 every (10) minutes.  That's a total of $24,000 awarded over the span of ten hours, surely enough to make the Isle Poker Room the busiest of any in the area.
