Tuesday, August 31st: If You Were Looking For Dramatic Finishes, Search No Further, As Nathan Schwartz Books A Trip To Las Vegas (For WSOP Main Event)!

ICYMI: For those that have been following the Player of the Month leaderboard, it's common knowledge that one event can drastically change the landscape towards the top.  Monday's $250 No Limit Hold'em "Final Table Finish" ($10,000 GTD) was the final opportunity for players to try and eclipse Nigel Murray, who stood atop the rankings with 77.55 points.

The table was set, after the field grew to (195) entries, which was one of the largest we've seen since this event's introduction to the schedule.  With the $40,560 prize pool to be spread across the final table, payouts were drawing a lot of attention, once they were posted for players to see.  First place was scheduled to take home $16,223, and a healthy amount of leaderboard points.  Action played through the money bubble, with no sign of a chop in sight.  As the poker room's closing time grew closer, the final two players were left with a decision...agree to a chop, or return later in the evening (7:00pm) to wrap up the tournament.  They eventually chose to bag, and play until an outright winner was determined.  Nathan Schwartz ended up coming out on top, which could be one of the most significant tournament wins of his lifetime...as he not only earned over $16,000, but 78.00 leaderboard points!!!! That's .45 points more than Nigel Murray, and enough to take over the top spot on the leaderboard (with no events remaining)!  Schwartz has now booked himself a ticket to the 2021 WSOP $10,000 Main Event!!!  Official results from last night's tournament are listed below, with an official leaderboard as well:
  1. Nathan Schwartz (Boynton Beach, FL) $16,223
  2. Angelo Castaldi (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $7,301

  7. Roberto Desogos (Oakland Park, FL) $2,434
  8. Thomas Millward (Boca Raton, FL) $1,217

Saturday, August 28th: David Albertson Is Currently On Another Level, Seeing Success In Seemingly Every Event He Enters!

ICYMI: In poker, when a player is running good, it's almost like being "in the zone" as a professional athlete.  Every move seems to be the right one, and each decision is beneficial towards deep runs and big scores.  Just a few days after chopping the opening event of the RunGood series (at Coconut Creek), David Albertson hopped over the to Isle Casino Pompano Park, and won the $160 No Limit Hold'em ($5,000 GTD) outright.  Let's paint an even better picture, because Albertson spent the day in the opening flight of the RunGood Main Event, and bagged the chip lead!

Last night's tournament attracted a field of (88) entries, and have an official prize pool of $10,736.  The top eleven players would reach the money, with action playing down to an outright winner (as mentioned above).  Albertson took home $3,461 in the deal, and earned the ever-important 28.37 leaderboard points.  The result now puts him in the hunt for the WSOP Main Event seat, but has a tall task ahead of him, considering that there are only a few events remaining in the month.  Official results from last night's action are listed below:

ICYMI: Thursday' $180 No Limit Hold'em "Double Green Chip Bounty" ($5,000 GTD) has seen some nice sized fields since the buy-in increased, but last night was one of the better showings since.  Registration for the tournament closed with a total of (122) entries, which equated to a prize pool of $11,102.  The real value of a bounty tournament, is the overall prize pool, as deep runs are still awarded appropriately (not just eliminating players).  Of those entries, (16) players were scheduled to reach the money, with the night's action playing down to a heads-up final table.  Lucas Tae (St. Charles, FL) and Scott Wyler (Ocean Ridge, FL) agreed to an even chop, which saw each walk away with $2,610.  The pair also earned 28.68 leaderboard points, which suddenly puts them in the mix, as we are less than a week away from awarding a WSOP Main Event seat.  Official results from the bounty event are listed below:

Tuesday, August 24th: Gil Nachum Tries To Run Away With "Final Table Finish," As We Come Down The Homestretch Of Leaderboard Race!!!

ICYMI: The highly-touted aspect of Monday's $250 No Limit Hold'em "Final Table Finish" ($10,000 GTD), is the incredibly healthy payouts.  With forty percent of the prize pool scheduled to go to the tournament's winner, you'd be hard pressed to find a better return in a recurring tournament (not just in South Florida, but the country).

Let's take last night's tournament for instance, which ended up with a total of (144) entries, and an official prize pool of $29,952.  With those numbers, the eventual winner was scheduled to take home close to $12,000!!!  Those payouts also make it easier for final table chops, as numbers seem to become more agreeable when they are larger.  Last night's tournament did end in a deal, with Gil Nachum receiving a lion's share of the money.  He didn't cross the five-figure mark, but his overwhelming chip lead did earn him $8,000 (and 38.46 leaderboard points).  Official results from the tournament are listed below:
  1. Gil Nachum (Dania Beach, FL) $8,000
  2. Nigel Murray (Miramar, FL) $4,518
  3. Jonathan Lasko (Hollywood, FL) $3,974
  4. Richard Blume Jr. (Delray Beach, FL) $3,958
  5. Dennis Gilman (Pompano Beach, FL) $3,245
  6. Harry man Baquero (Coral Springs, FL) $2,662
  7. Calixto Rodriguez (Pembroke Pines, FL) $1,797
  8. Kevin McCormick (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $899
  9. Bruce Warren (Wilton Manors, FL) $899
Promotions: From 10:00am (the minute the doors open) until 11:00pm, $300 high hands will be awarded every (30) minutes. These high hands must be aces-full or better, use both hole cards, and be the winning hand (in a pot that has at least $10).  From 11:00pm until close, $100 high hands will be awarded every (30) minutes.

Monday, August 23rd: Tom Gity Returns In A Big Way, With All Eyes On This Evening's $250 No Limit Hold'em "Final Table Finish" ($10,000 GTD)

ICYMI: Sunday's $400 No Limit Hold'em ($20,000 GTD) has really caught the eye of tournament players in the area, especially those comfortable with the larger buy-in.  While a certain group of players may skip a $130 buy-in event, it's hard to overlook a recurring tournament that offers top prizes that are in the five-figures.  Yesterday's installment of the event attracted (129) entries, which equated to an official prize pool of $44,892, which is more than double the posted guarantee!!  A total of (17) players were scheduled to reach the money, with action playing down to a four-handed final table.  An even four-way chop was agreed to, with Tom Gity (Port St. Lucie, FL) taking home first place money (three dollars more than the rest).  Gity was synonymous with the Isle Casino Pompano Park poker room (pre-pandemic), but this is the first we are seeing his name in a while.  He is no stranger to the South Florida tournament community, with over $398,000 in lifetime earnings (most of which came from rooms in Florida).  Official results from the tournament are listed below:

ICYMI: Friday's have always been popular for tournaments, as players look to start off their weekend strong.  Last night's $160 No Limit Hold'em ($5,000 GTD) was no exception, as the event attracted a total of (120) entries.  There were numerous notable names in the field, hoping to record another Isle Casino Pompano Park result, and add some leaderboard points to their total.  The $14,640 prize pool was scheduled to be spread across (15) players, with action playing down to a six-handed final table.  While it may not be easy to get that many people to agree to a deal, they managed to get it done, with everyone walking away at least $1,103 richer. William Romano (Pompano Beach, FL) took home first place money in the deal, and used the leaderboard points earned, to climb the standings.  Official results from the tournament are listed below, along with an updated leaderboard:

ICYMI: Updated Player Of The Month Leaderboard (As Of August 15th)

Monday, August 16th: David Lopez Wins $400 No Limit Hold’em ($20,000 GTD) Outright, “Final Table Finish” Headlines Today’s Schedule

ICYMI: Sunday's $400 No Limit Hold'em ($20,000 GTD) was running for a consecutive week (first time ever), and there was a noticeable increase in numbers.  Registration for the tournament closed with a total of (134) entries, which was almost double that of last weekend (74 entries on August 9th).  The $46,632 prize pool more than doubled the posted guarantee, and is just an impressive number for a recurring event.  First place was scheduled to take home over $13,000, and that's just what the first place finisher did...there would be no deals, as David Lopez (Pembroke Pines, FL) bested the field.  The 37.85 were also of great value to David, as he now sits in the second position, just a earshot away from Irwin Block's number.  Irwin's early distancing seemed like it could be a tall task to overcome, but Lopez has done it in a matter of weeks.  Official results from yesterday's tournament are listed below:

  1. David Lopez (Pembroke Pines, FL) $13,173
  2. Altaboal Mohamed (Miami, FL) $8,335
  3. Omar Sader (Pompano Beach, FL) $4,943
  4. Richard Leger (Lighthouse Point, FL) $3,031
  5. Jonathan Marcu (Boca Raton, FL) $2,308
  6. Willie Wiggins (Pembroke Pines, FL) $1,959
  7. Brenda Nelson (West Palm Beach, FL) $1,702
  8. Luciano Nardi (Delray Beach, FL) $1,492
  9. Unknown (Parts Unknown, USA) $1,317
  10. Robert Kessler (Parkland, FL) $1,166
  11. Joseph Kearns (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $1,166

  13. Gill Nachum (Dania Beach, FL) $1,026
  14. Tyler Gray (Bradenton, FL) $1,026
  15. Jason Shoats (Lighthouse Point, FL) $1,026
  16. Irwin Block (Pompano Beach, FL) $898
  17. Nathan Thrush (Post Falls, CA) $898

Tournaments: At 6:00pm this evening, the $250 No Limit Hold'em ($10,000 GTD) "Final Table Finish" returns, with a little wrinkle.  This particular tournament had such a good structure, that the final table action ran into the closing time of the poker room (players are then faced with chopping, or bagging for a Day 2).  To keep that from occurring, there will be some slight changes moving forward.

The event will be structured with 25,000 chip starting stacks, (20) minute levels, and open registration through Level 8 (and the break that follows).  The new format-wrinkle comes into play when discussing payouts, as the tournament will pay out just the final table, regardless of how many entries.  Exact payout percentages are as follows (final tables are now nine-handed):
  1. 40%
  2. 18%
  3. 10%
  4. 7%
  5. 7%
  6. 6%
  7. 6%
  8. 3%
  9. 3%

6:00pm: $250 No Limit Hold'em "Final Table Finish" ($10,000 GTD)
  • Players start with 25,000 in tournament chips
  • Late and re-entries for the first (8) levels
  • Alternates and late entries will start with a full stack
  • Levels will last (20) minutes

ICYMI: Saturday's $130 No Limit Hold'em ($5,000 GTD) continued it's recent form, absolutely crushing the posted guarantee.  Registration for the tournament closed with a total of (123) entries, which equated to an official prize pool of $12,300.  A total of (16) players were scheduled to reach the money, with action playing down to an outright winner.  If there is anything to be learned by last night's tournament, it's the value of playing out a tournament to it's completion.  The leaderboard points that are scheduled (without a chop being agreed to) are so strong for the eventual winner, that Devin Batista went from not listed on the leaderboard at all...to fourth place!!!  Official results are listed below, with an updated leaderboard to be published this afternoon:
