For a span of a few months, the tournament carried a $3,000 guarantee, and consistently surpassed that number. The poker room management team recognized that, and decided to make things even more attractive...making the guarantee $5,000.

Sixteen players would eventually reach the money, with action playing down to a five-handed final table, when a chop would be agreed to.
