Event 5 (Day 2): Official Event 5 Results

Posted below are the official results from Event 5 ($570 No Limit Hold'em $250,000 Guarantee) of the 2016 Isle Poker Open:

Event 5 (Day 2): 1st Place - McKoy ($39,000)

Event 5 ($570 NLH - $250,000 Guarantee)
Level 24 (Blinds 12,000/24,000/3,000)
Total Entries: 467

Day 1B Players Remaining: 10
Chip Average: 1,165,000

Steven McKoy (Coral Springs, FL) had a supporter on the rail when play was down to four tables, who was very vocal..."This man is winning it right here, take note."  McKoy was actually a player to take note of long before he rocketed up the leaderboard, a tournament professional with over $700,000 in career earnings.  With (76) recorded cashes to his name since 2009, McKoy's experience took him to a point where he was holding close double the chips of his nearest opponent.  The ICM/chip count numbers were to McKoy's liking, and he earns ($39,000) his largest score since winning a $350 NLH at SHR earlier this year.

Event 5 (Day 2): 2nd Place - Moreno ($22,000)

Event 5 ($570 NLH - $250,000 Guarantee)
Level 24 (Blinds 12,000/24,000/3,000)
Total Entries: 467

Day 1B Players Remaining: 10
Chip Average: 1,165,000

Steven Moreno (Miami, FL) is another player who earned a career highlighting score as part of this deal ($22,000).  Moreno must have felt right at home at the final table, having just reached this point during Event 3 ($200 Pot Limit Omaha).  That tournament ended in an eight-way chop, and with those results, Moreno has put himself in position for the series' "breakout player" (with Al Efremoff).

Event 5 (Day 2): 3rd Place - Ribak ($20,600)

Event 5 ($570 NLH - $250,000 Guarantee)
Level 24 (Blinds 12,000/24,000/3,000)
Total Entries: 467

Day 1B Players Remaining: 10
Chip Average: 1,165,000

Kobi Ribak's (Boca Raton, FL) was probably named on the blog more than any other player on Day 2, which gave the blogger an opportunity to spell his name wrong at least seven times.  Ribak was able to keep his head on straight, and keep his focus on the matter at hand, ending up with his career highlighting score ($20,600).  Kobi's tournament moment came against one time chipleader Zack Mullinex.  Ribak flopped top pair and wait at risk against Zack's two pair, but Kobi ran out clubs to make a flush and double up.  The rest...history.

Event 5 (Day 2): 4th Place - Templeton ($17,500)

Event 5 ($570 NLH - $250,000 Guarantee)
Level 24 (Blinds 12,000/24,000/3,000)
Total Entries: 467

Day 1B Players Remaining: 10
Chip Average: 1,165,000

John Templeton (Sarasota, FL) was another player with a lot of experience in this spot, already amassing over $230,000 in his tournament poker career.  While he was in the middle of the chip counts at the time of the discussion, he seemed content regardless of what happened, even if things were to be played out.  John has a win for $134,000 from Hard Rock Tampa last year ($1,650 NLH Event), so this wasn't the largest of his career, but it is the largest of this calendar year.

Event 5 (Day 2): 5th Place - Wolfson ($17,000)

Event 5 ($570 NLH - $250,000 Guarantee)
Level 24 (Blinds 12,000/24,000/3,000)
Total Entries: 467

Day 1B Players Remaining: 10
Chip Average: 1,165,000

Matt Wolfson (Delray Beach, FL) has (10) recorded lifetime cashes, with (7) of them coming at the WSOP...so it's clear that Wolfson is comfortable on the big stage.  Matt was really the orchestrator of the chop, and did an incredible job managing to ten players to agree on large sums of money.  The $17,000 comes at a perfect time, as he mentioned on a few occasions that he has a wedding approaching.  They say that "run good" in poker sometimes correlates with "run good" in life, as he was all smiles as the deal got done.

Event 5 (Day 2): 6th Place - Kundawala ($16,000)

Event 5 ($570 NLH - $250,000 Guarantee)
Level 24 (Blinds 12,000/24,000/3,000)
Total Entries: 467

Day 1B Players Remaining: 10
Chip Average: 1,165,000

Ishaq Kundawala (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) came into the day with (7) lifetime cashes to his name, but none over $457.  So once this field reached the money, Ishaq knew it would be his defining poker moment to this point, no matter where his finished.  Kundawala started the day 11th out of 131 players, and really began to amass chips the moments before, and right after dinner break.  The $16,000 he earned as his share of the chop is close to eight times his earnings prior, and gives his invaluable major tournament experience.

Event 5 (Day 2): 7th Place - Markov ($16,000)

Event 5 ($570 NLH - $250,000 Guarantee)
Level 24 (Blinds 12,000/24,000/3,000)
Total Entries: 467

Day 1B Players Remaining: 10
Chip Average: 1,165,000

Martin Markov (Key West, FL) must have felt like it was deja vu, having been through a chop discussion in a major event. Markov was part of a six-way chop at Seminole Hard Rock during the opening event of the SHRPO.  That was actually the last recorded cash Martin had, so another five-figure score makes for a tournament year that many would sign up for.  Markov took home $16,000 in his part of the agreement, and now with a deep Event 1 and Event 5 run, we are likely to see him once again as the series continues.

Event 5 (Day 2): 8th Place - Lowing ($15,000)

Event 5 ($570 NLH - $250,000 Guarantee)
Level 24 (Blinds 12,000/24,000/3,000)
Total Entries: 467

Day 1B Players Remaining: 10
Chip Average: 1,165,000

Joshua Lowing (Crestview, FL) had already reached (9) final tables this year alone, and that experience had him very confident coming to the final table.  He started the day with a top twenty stack, and watched as it fluctuated throughout the day.  The deep stacks and great structure offered Lowing the opportunity to take a hit to his stack, and then patiently recover.  This cash (worth $15,000) now puts him in 15th place for number of cashes in 2016, sharing the spot with the likes of Joe Kuether and DJ MacKinnon.

Event 5 (Day 2): 9th Place - Cruz ($14,320)

Event 5 ($570 NLH - $250,000 Guarantee)
Level 24 (Blinds 12,000/24,000/3,000)
Total Entries: 467

Day 1B Players Remaining: 10
Chip Average: 1,165,000

Daniel Cruz's (Boca Raton, FL) road to the final table could really bum summed up in two hands...both against Jose De Arriba.  With (60) players left, Cruz was at risk with K♣ 8♣ against the K♠ K of Arriba, and went runner-runner to make a flush and double.  Then (45) minutes later, Cruz got it in with A♠ K♠ against Jose's Q♠ Q, and ended up turning a king to double up once again.  From there it was steady play that earned Cruz $14,320,

Event 5 (Day 2): 10th Place - Wynder ($9,500)

Event 5 ($570 NLH - $250,000 Guarantee)
Level 24 (Blinds 12,000/24,000/3,000)
Total Entries: 467

Day 1B Players Remaining: 10
Chip Average: 1,165,000

Sam Wynder (Palm Springs, FL) was one of the shortest stacks heading to the final table, but it wasn't something he was uncomfortable with, had things continued.  Winder started the day with 120,100, and while he never reached a point where he had one of the biggest stacks, he navigated a way to this chop.  Sam had no tournament resume before May of this year, but with his $9,500 from the agreed deal, he's already eclipsed $50,000 in earnings in five months.

Event 5 (Day 2): Event 5 Players Agree To Final Table Chop!!!

Event 5 ($570 NLH - $250,000 Guarantee)
Level 24 (Blinds 12,000/24,000/3,000)
Total Entries: 467

Day 1B Players Remaining: 10
Chip Average: 1,165,000

It took a little while, but the final table players have a agreed to a final table chop.  The agreed upon numbers will be posted shortly, but we can tell you that Steven McKoy takes top bill (and is crowned "champion").  It will be about (90) minutes before supervisors verify numbers, and we post the official payouts for you.
