Thursday, September 27th: Mixed-Game Action, Along With "Super High Hands," Headlines Thursday's Schedule

ICYMI: Wednesday's tournament action kicked off at 11:00am, with an $80 No Limit Hold'em event, which carried a $2,500 guaranteed prize pool.  The posted number would be eclipsed just as registration was closing, as the optional add-ons brought the official prize pool to $2,623.  Of the (39) entries in the tournament, seven ended up reaching the money, as players agreed to a deal at the final table.  Official results from the afternoon event are listed below:
  1. Glen Canelstein (Coconut Creek, FL) $548
  2. Richard Kessler (Oakland Park, FL) $457
  3. Brian Haines (Southwest Ranches, FL) $457
  4. Jose Arvelo (Pompano Beach, FL) $391
  5. Gerald Hertz (Pompano Beach, FL) $327
  6. Zaki Lichaa (Pompano Beach, FL) $323
  7. Thomas Gari (Aventura, FL) $120
The evening event ($100 No Limit Hold'em) was a little more "intimate," as the field closed with (11) total entries.  After the add-ons were included, the official prize pool would close at $863, which was scheduled to be paid out to two spots.  Once heads-up play was reached, a deal was struck, with the official results listed below:
  1. Roberto Desogos (Pompano Beach, FL) $521
  2. Bruce Warren (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $342
Tournaments: The day's tournament schedule begins with one of the most popular recurring events, which happens to be of the non-no limit hold'em variety.  The $200 Limit Omaha 8B (Hi/Lo) event gets underway at 11:00am, and is structured with 14,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (30) minutes.  Registration is open through Level 8, with this same structure being introduced last week, and players raving about the deep play offered.

The 6:00pm time slot hosts the inaugural running of the $150 No Limit Hold'em "Post Registration Bounty," a tournament that players have circled since the month's schedule was released.  The tournament is structured with 14,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (20) minutes.  Registration is open through Level 8, and is a crucial point in the event, because it will determine how much the bounties are worth.  Each entry from the tournament will set aside $40 towards the "bounty pool," and once registration is over, the total pool will be divided by the players remaining.  That will then be the amount players earn for every "post registration" elimination.

Promotions: From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am (midnight), with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.  From 12:00am-9:00am, players are eligible for $100 high hands every hour.

It should also be noted that players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand.  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).

In addition to the "standard" high hands, from 6:00pm through 1:00am, players are eligible for the "Super High Hands." Players that make a qualifying royal flush, will be awarded up to $3,000, depending on what game they are playing (No Limit Hold'em and Pot Limit Omaha are awarded the $3,000).  Players that make a qualifying straight flush, will be awarded up to $1,200, depending on what game they are playing (No Limit Hold'em and Pot Limit Omaha are awarded the $1,200).  Full rules and payouts are posted on the blog.
