Event #8 | $1,100 No Limit Hold'em ($250,000 GTD)

Total Event #8 Entries: 42

Matt Bretzfield (Kings Park, NY) is looking to make it three final tables in three weeks, with aspirations to best his second place finish from Event #1 of this series.

With the (40) minute levels, and 30,000 unit starting stack, it's no surprise that we are seeing players trickle in on the "later side."  One of the most recent entries was Matt Bretzfield (Kings Park, NY), who is coming off a two week span, in which he's made over $100,000 (between tournament cashes, and cash game play).  After final tabling the $5,250 NLH SHRPO Championship Event for $62,415, Matt was part of the severn-way chop that ended Event #1 of this series (second place money worth $22,374).

If those results weren't good enough, Bretzfield ended up winning close to $40,000 playing PLO last night, and is now in the Flight 1A field, after a good night's sleep.  Some other late entries to today's Flight 1A field include:

Raminder Singh
Matt Smith
Michael Chiappetta

Total Event #8 Entries: 41

Erik Christensen (Miami, FL) has fond memories of the CPPT, as it was his first ever final table reached.

"I have a lot of good memories from the Card Player Poker Tour," Erik Christensen mentioned to us, as he took a step away from the table.  "I made my first ever final table in a Card Player Poker Tour event...back in 2014, in Jacksonville."  Research does show that Erik did indeed reach his first every final table at a CPPT $1,500 Main Event at BestBet, eventually finishing in 5th place ($17,100).  The result was Erik's first five-figure score, on a resume that now has over $476,000 in lifetime earnings.

Christensen is off to a good start this afternoon, as he sits with close to 50,000, now four levels into the day.

CPPT Main Event (Flight 1A): Satellite Winners Looking To Parlay A Nice Score For Fraction Of The Price

Event #8 | $1,100 No Limit Hold'em ($250,000 GTD)
Level 4 (Blinds 200/300/300)
Total Event #8 Entries: 38

Evan Teitelbaum (Parkland, FL) was one of five players to win a CPPT Event #8 seat this morning/afternoon, and happened to be the only one to choose this flight as their pick to play.

Just as this flight was getting underway, the 10:00am satellite into this event ($250 No Limit Hold'em) was finishing up, with five players awarded CPPT Main Event seats.  Once the tickets were handed out, it looked like the five players were leaving the property, choosing to come back Saturday or Sunday (Flight 1B or Flight 1C).  One of those players has returned though, with Evan Teitelbaum (Parkland, FL) taking his seat at Table 1.

Satellites are a great opportunity for players to get into these larger buy-in events for a fraction of the price, with a handful remaining on this Card Player Poker Tour schedule:

Thursday, August 23rd (6:00pm): $250 No Limit Hold'em Satellite Into Event #8 (10 Seats GTD)
Friday, August 24th (10:00am): $250 No Limit Hold'em Satellite Into Event #8 (5 Seats GTD)
Friday, August 24th (6:00pm): $250 No Limit Hold'em Satellite Into Event #8 (10 Seats GTD)
Saturday, August 25th (10:00am): $250 No Limit Hold'em Satellite Into Event #8
Sunday, August 26th (10:00am): $250 No Limit Hold'em Satellite Into Event #8

CPPT Main Event (Flight 1A): Steve Karp Returns After FSPC Main Event Final Table Finish

2018 Card Player Poker Tour (Isle Casino Pompano Park)
Event #8 | $1,100 No Limit Hold'em ($250,000 GTD)
Level 3 (Blinds 100/200/200)
Total Event #8 Entries: 30

Steve Karp (Miami, FL) has recorded one tournament cash, since finishing 10th in the FPSC $1,500 Main Event, just over one month ago.

Just over one month ago, Steve Karp (Miami, FL) was returning for Day 3 of the FSPC $1,500 Main Event, a tournament he would eventually finish in 10th place ($14,550).  It was Karp's largest tournament cash of the year, amongst a large number of physical results.  Steve has recorded (21) results in 2018, which puts him in 111th place on the "number of cashes" list for the year.  Karp now has over $1,525,000 in lifetime tournament earnings, with a single Isle Casino Pompano Park major win included in those numbers (2010 Isle Classic $900 No Limit Hold'em - $55,854).

Day 3 of the FSPC $1,500 Main Event wasn't kind to Steve, as his pocket kings fell in two critical spots.  He's now looking to best that result, and joins a late arriving group to the Flight 1A field:

Paul Balzano
Ido Ashkenazi
Michael Garavuso
Jason Atherley
Juan Martinez
Michael Graffeo

CPPT Main Event (Flight 1A): Cory Williams One Of The "Early Birds," Off A Deep WSOP Main Event Run

2018 Card Player Poker Tour (Isle Casino Pompano Park)
Event #8 | $1,100 No Limit Hold'em ($250,000 GTD)
Level 2 (Blinds 100/100/100)
Total Event #8 Entries: 21

Cory Williams (Alva, FL) hasn't posted a result since his WSOP Main Event cash, but it still looks really nice on the resume, as he received over $57,000 for his 103rd place finish.

"Lemme get some of the WSOP money," a friend came over an said to Cory Williams (Alva, FL), who had just taken his seat at Table 9.  Cory's buddy was referencing his most recent tournament cash, running deep in the $10,000 No Limit Hold'em WSOP Main Event.  Williams was eliminated from the year's most prestigious tournament in 103rd place, which was good for $57,010.  The result was the largest of his tournament career, besting his final table finish the year prior, of the $1,100 No Limit Hold'em Main Event at the Naples/Ft. Myers Greyhound Track ($33,440).

While Cory passed on the earlier events in this series, he wasn't going to let this Main Event pass, without at least putting in one entry.  Williams is joined in the Flight 1A field by some other familiar names, including:

Tracy Scala
Frank Scala
Anthony Utnage
Scott Zakheim
Steven Ibrahim
Stanton Drazen
Kenneth Bruno
Paul Shafran

CPPT Main Event (Flight 1A): Action Underway For Card Player Poker Tour $1,100 Main Event

2018 Card Player Poker Tour (Isle Casino Pompano Park)
Event #8 | $1,100 No Limit Hold'em ($250,000 GTD)
Level 1 (Blinds 100/100)
Total Event #8 Entries: 13

The wait is finally over, as Event #8 ($1,100 No Limit Hold'em Main Event $250,000 GTD) is now underway.  The headlining event of the series is structured with 30,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (40) minutes during each of these opening flights (Levels 1-13).  When the scheduled Day 2 action resumes (2:00pm on Sunday), those levels will transition to (50) minutes.  Registration is open throughout each of the starting flights (from first card to bagging), and will continue to stay open through the first hand dealt on Day 2.  All of the "player-favorites" are in play, including 9-handed tables, and the single big blind ante.

This is the first time that Card Player Poker Tour is being hosted here at the Isle Casino Pompano Park, so it will be very interesting to see the numbers that this event gets.  Live blogged coverage of this event will be a little "different" this time around, as we introduce the tournament through the middle of today's action, before handing it off to Card Player Media's tournament team.  Don't worry though...we will be back on Monday, bring followers of the blog the detailed final table coverage that they have come to know and love.

We will allow the field to fill up a little, before taking a look at some of the early notables in today's Flight 1A field.

Thursday, August 23rd: The Card Player Poker Tour $1,100 Main Event Begins Today!!!

ICYMI: Wednesday's schedule was a busy one, with two satellites, and Event #7 of the Card Player Poker Tour ($300 Pot Limit Omaha w/ $200 Re-Buys and $100 Add-on).  The seventh tournament of the series would see registration close with (14) entries, but that didn't stop the prize pool from growing to $13,558 (because of the re-buys and add-ons).  The payouts were pretty healthy, as two spots were scheduled to get paid, with first place scheduled to take home $8,813.  Because of the size of the two paid places, discussions of a deal started on the money bubble, with the final three players agreeing to a chop.  Lou Ojeda (Miami, FL) was declared the event's winner, and would walk away with $6,276 for his first place share of the deal.  Official results from Event #7 are posted below:
  1. Lou Ojeda (Miami, FL) $6,276
  2. Zachary Milchman (Boca Raton, FL) $5,207
  3. Farid Dhanani (Miramar, FL) $2,075
Tournaments: There are three tournaments on today's schedule, all revolving around the Card Player Poker Tour $1,100 No Limit Hold'em Main Event.  The action starts at 10:00am, with a $250 No Limit Hold'em Satellite Into Event #8 ($1,100 CPPT Main Event), which carries a (5) seat guarantee. The satellite is structured with 12,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (20) minutes.  Registration is open through Level 8 (and the ten minute break that follows), allowing just under three hours for players to join the action.

At 2:00pm, we see the first flight of the Card Player Poker Tour Main Event.  The $1,100 No Limit Hold'em tournament boasts a $250,000 guaranteed prize pool, which should be easily attained.  The event has a major structure, with players sitting down to 30,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (40) minutes (during each starting flights).  Those levels will eventually transition to (50) minutes when Day 2 starts.  Registration is open throughout all of Day 1 (which is scheduled to play through Level 13), and stays open before the first hand is dealt on Sunday (Day 2).

The final tournament of the day is another $250 No Limit Hold'em Satellite Into Card Player Poker Tour Event #8, which mirrors (in structure) the same satellite from earlier in the day.  The only difference between the two satellites is the guarantee, as this 6:00pm installment boasts a very healthy (10) seat guarantee.

Promotions: From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am (midnight), with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible (Isle Open events not eligible for high hand) each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.  From 12:00am-9:00am, players are eligible for $100 high hands every hour.

It should also be noted that players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand.  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).
