$175 NLH $100,000 GTD (Flight 1E): Taking A Look At The 2018 Florida State Poker Championship Schedule

$200 No Limit Hold'em
$100,000 Guaranteed
Level 11 (Blinds 600/1,200/200)
Total Flight 1E Entries: 55
Flight 1E Players Remaining: 20

Posted below is the official schedule for the 2018 Florida State Poker Championship, which is the tenth anniversary of the prestigious series.  There are (17) primary events over the course of three weeks in July, including four "showcased" events, headed by the $1,500 No Limit Hold'em FSPC Main Event ($500,000 GTD).  The main event is one of the first "post-WSOP" majors, and has grown in popularity (and numbers) each and every year.

Leading up to the main event, there are three other tournaments which carry six-figure guarantees, starting with Event #1.  The $175 No Limit Hold'em opening event has a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool, and eight opening flights for players to choose from.  Running from July 5th through July 9th, the event is sure to see one of the largest fields of the series.   Just a few days after Event #1's conclusion, Event #4 follows with the series' second six-figure guaranteed prize pool, as the $360 No Limit Hold'em event boasts a $200,000 guarantee.  With six flights running from July 12th through July 15th, the tournament will likely see the second largest prize pool of the series (behind the main event).  The third of four "showcased" events is Event #9, as the $1,100 No Limit Hold'em tournament offers yet another $200,000 guaranteed prize pool.  There are four opening flights that run from July 19th through July 22nd, with players returning on July 23rd for Day 2.

In between those events, there are thirteen other options for players to get their hands on a FSPC trophy, including four bounty events, an Omaha 8B Hi/Lo tournament, a Seniors Championship, and the addition of a six-max format.

There is some excited news to follow in regards to the series, as both Scotty Nguyen and Vanessa Russo will be joining us for the FSPC $1,500 Main Event.  While they are in attendance, there will be a schedule meet and greet/autograph session (times and dates to be determined).  Structure sheets and satellite schedule will also be released in the upcoming weeks.

Level 10 (Blinds 500/1,000/100)
Total Flight 1E Entries: 55
Flight 1E Players Remaining: 22

Thomas Milmore (Stony Point, NY) is looking to recapture some of that old tournament magic, and has seen some nice success during this flight.

With players once again settled in their seats, we had an opportunity to scan the field for updated chip counts.  Frederic White still sits atop the leaderboard, becoming the first player to eclipse the century mark.  One name to climb to the top of the chip counts is Thomas Milmore (Stony Point, NY), who has been away from tournaments for a while.  Milmore has over $10,000 in tournament earnings, a majority of which came during a year's period (from 2010 to 2011).  Thomas's last cash came in September of 2016, when final tabled the $340 No Limit Hold'em Seniors (Mike Sica Memorial) event.

Fredric White - 105,000 (105bb)
Joseph Schwartz - 60,000 (60bb)
Thomas Milmore - 57,000 (57bb)
Terry Siele - 53,000 (53bb)
Janet Fitzgerald - 50,000 (50bb)
Karin Powsner - 47,000 (47bb)
Richard Leger - 37,000 (37bb)

$200 No Limit Hold'em
$100,000 Guaranteed
Level 9 (Blinds 400/800/100)
Total Flight 1E Entries: 55
Flight 1E Players Remaining: 27

The registration window for Flight 1E has now closed, with the field officially closing with (55) entries, (27) of which are still remaining.  The combined total of the first five flights now sits at (250), with a prize pool that is currently $33,000.  With three flights remaining in the event, they each need to average (170) entries to reach the posted guarantee.  The possibility of an overlay is becoming more of a reality each flight that passes, with tonight's 6:00pm (Flight 1F), and tomorrow's pair of flights still left.

$175 NLH $100,000 GTD (Flight 1E): Nothing Coming Easy For Michael Marks This Afternoon

$175 No Limit Hold'em
$100,000 Guaranteed
Level 8 (Blinds 300/600/75)
Total Flight 1E Entries: 53

Experiencing the "wrong" side of variance is a new thing for Michael Marks (North Lauderdale, FL), who has been running very pure in these large multi-flight events.  On Michael's first attempt this afternoon, he was all-in for a pot worth close to 50,000, holding 9♠ 9 on a Q♣ 10♣ 9♣ board.  His opponent has J♣ J♠, for an open-ended straight flush draw.  Marks would watch as a club came on the turn, leaving him searching for a card to pair the board...which didn't happen.

Marks would then be left with just over 5,000, and after flatting a 3,100 raise pre-flop (in a three-way pot), he'd be put to a decision for his remaining chips.  The 10♣ 9♣ 9 flop didn't connect with his holdings of 5 7, but getting over 15:1 on his money was too good of a number.  Michael would make the call, and while he was behind the K Q of his opponent, he still was drawing live.  Marks then spiked the 5 on the turn to take the lead, but watched the J♣ fall on the river, stealing the pot away (and leaving him on the rail).

Michael didn't stay away long though, as he has re-entered the field, and is seated with a fresh starting stack of 15,000.

$175 NLH $100,000 GTD (Flight 1E): Frederic White Looking To Enter Uncharted Territory, Leads The Flight 1E Field

$175 No Limit Hold'em
$100,000 Guaranteed
Level 7 (Blinds 250/500/75)
Total Flight 1E Entries: 52

Frederic White (Coral Springs, FL) has a very "comfortable" look to him, sitting back in his chair with a stack of 80,000 in front of him.

As we creep towards the end of registration for Flight 1E, the first player to separate themselves from the field is Frederic White (Coral Springs, FL).  White is currently sitting with 80,000 in front of him, which is almost quadruple the chip average at the moment.  Reaching Day 2, and potentially making a deep run in the event, could be a career highlighting moment for White.  Research of his resume yields just one recored result on Hendon Mob, cashing in Event #2 of last year's Florida State Poker Championships ($140 No Limit Hold'em - 75th Place $465).

Frederic White - 80,000 (160bb)

$175 NLH $100,000 GTD (Flight 1E): Tomorrow Is The "Final Leg" Of These Opening Flights...And The Triple Crown

$175 No Limit Hold'em
$100,000 Guaranteed
Level 6 (Blinds 200/400/50)
Total Flight 1E Entries: 45

Tomorrow is significant for two reasons...one being that the final pair of starting flights are on the schedule, and the other being the final leg of the Triple Crown.  In (99) complete runnings of the Triple Crown, only (12) horses have been able to complete the feat (of winning all three races).  Justify looks to make the number thirteen a lucky one tomorrow, as many will focus on race eleven at Belmont (The Belmont Stakes).  There will be a "Triple Crown Race Party" here at the Isle Casino Pompano Park, will information found by clicking the above link.

$175 NLH $100,000 GTD (Flight 1E): The "Real" Results Of Joseph Schwartz

$175 No Limit Hold'em
$100,000 Guaranteed
Level 5 (Blinds 150/300/25 )
Total Flight 1E Entries: 40

Joseph Schwartz (Boca Raton, FL) was quick to correct the information posted about his results, as friends reading the blog threw a couple of needles his way.

When Joe Schwartz was featured on the blog during the most recent multi ($200 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD), we gave stats that were not fully complete (or correct).  After a correction from Schwartz himself, along with some further research, Schwartz's real tournament resume was found.  His 14th place finish in the event was worth $2,010, and while we stated that was his largest tournament cash, it was actually his fourth best result (and brought his career earnings north of $24,000).  Joseph's career best score came during the 2012 Battles At The Beach, when he finished fifth in the $550 No Limit Hold'em event, earning himself $5,969.

The deep run a few weeks ago helped fuel Schwartz's desire for a better result, and he's now in the Flight 1E field, hoping to bag on this first attempt.  Some other notables in the field include:

Frank Traino
Ralph Spadafore
Thomas Gari
Carmen Mali
Shlomo Maman
Terry Siele
Frederic White

$175 NLH $100,000 GTD (Flight 1E): Nothing Drives The Want To Win...Like Winning

$175 No Limit Hold'em
$100,000 Guaranteed
Level 3 (Blinds 75/150/25)
Total Flight 1E Entries: 30

Joseph Mancuso (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) has a great track record in the recurring tournaments here at the Isle Poker Room, but is looking for a highlighting result in a multi.

Nothing breeds the want to win, quite like winning, which Joseph Mancuso (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) knows very well.  The tournament veteran has been cashing in events since 2011, winning eight tournaments in his career, one of which was a Florida State Poker Championships title (2015).  The rest of the wins were in recurring events, which Mancuso has feasted on as of recently.  Joseph is just four days removed from a win in the $80 No Limit Hold'em ($2,500 GTD) event that was run this past Monday ($730), and is now in the Flight 1E field.  Mancuso hopes to find himself a bag this afternoon, and eventually add to his career earnings of $54,939.

We did spot some other "early bird" notables in the field, including Arnold Cohen, Douglas Decker, and Lou Stadler.

$175 NLH $100,000 GTD (Flight 1E): With The Weekend Here, The Final Four Flights Expected To Bring Some Large Numbers

$175 No Limit Hold'em
$100,000 Guaranteed
Level 1 (Blinds 25/50)
Total Flight 1E Entries: N/A

The halfway point of the $175 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD) has been reached, with a total of (195) entries, of which (24) players have bagged chips for Day 2 (Sunday).  The current prize pool sits at $25,740, which is just over a quarter of the way towards the posted guarantee of $100,000.  Big numbers are going to be needed to reach the guarantee...but big numbers have been a trend during the weekends of these multis.

The cards are about to get in the air for Flight 1E, which is the fifth of eight total starting flights for the event.  Players will be sitting down to the 15,000 unit starting stacks, with levels of (25) minutes over the course of the day.  Registration is open through Level 8 (and the break that follows), with those that reach that point, trying to match the overall leading stack of Richard Wetter (312,500).  There are only seven players scheduled to return with a stack over the 122,000 chip average (for Day 2), and eleven players to have eclipsed the century mark.

As the field sizes increase this weekend, we can expect to see some larger stacks packed into bags, and the landscape of the leaderboard change dramatically.  We will keep you updated on the action this afternoon, as a new group of players try to book their tickets to Sunday's Day 2.

Friday, June 8th: After Four Opening Flights, The Weekend Warriors Are Now Ready To Join The $175 NLH ($100,000 GTD) Action

ICYMI: Thursday hosted the second pair of flights for the $175 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD), with the official numbers almost exactly what we saw on Wednesday.  Flight 1C saw registration close with (51) entries, of which (8) players successfully bagged chips for Day 2.  Only two players were able to eclipse the century mark, as James Hamburger (235,400) and Darlin Quezada Lagares (109,500) bagged the largest stacks.  Full counts from the flight are listed below:

James Hamburger - 214,500
Darlin Quezada Lagares - 109,500
Rodney Moret-Rojas - 94,000
Rudy Miret - 81,500
Matthew Ewert - 74,500
Bruce Warren - 64,000
Bob Miller - 63,000
Leonard St. Germain - 62,500

Flight 1D ended up attracting (47) total entries, of which (5) players reached the bagging process.  While two of the first three starting flights ended early, neither saw play pause as quickly as Flight 1D, which ended with 1:45 remaining in Level 13.  That currently means that Day 2 action will resume at that point, unless one of the next four flights ends even quicker (which is very unlikely).  After chopping the $200 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD) two weeks ago, Tom Gity bagged the largest Flight 1D stack, heading to Day 2 with 235,400.  Official chip counts from the fourth opening flight are listed below:

Tom Gity - 235,400
Engelbarth Valera - 190,000
Maury Halperin - 123,800
John Magnetta - 91,900
Rickie Baboolal - 55,700

To this point in the tournament, there have been (195) entries, with (24) players successfully bagging chips for Day 2.  The currently prize pool sits at $25,740, with some strong numbers needed to reach the posted $100,000 guarantee.

Tournaments: The third pair of starting flights get underway at 11:00am, as the tournament reaches the busiest point of the opening stages (the weekend).  Players will be sitting down to starting stacks of 15,000 units, and playing levels that last (25) minutes over the course of the tournament.  Registration is open through Level 8, and the break that follows, which equates to just under four hours for players to get in. Play is scheduled to conclude after Level 16, unless the field reach the 10% mark before that point.  Those players that successfully bag chips in each opening flight, will be returning to play on Sunday for Day 2 (12:00pm).

Promotions: From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am (midnight), with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible (each half-hour) for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.
