Kenneth Berman (Sarasota, FL) is normally talkative at the table...but with the current stack, he's been chirping away.

Players are now two levels removed from their first break, with the leaderboard beginning to take shape.  The field is led by Kenneth Berman (Sarasota, FL), who definitely has his sights on getting his hands on the "chip lead bonus."

"What's the largest stack to this point," Berman was asking other players at the table, who told him that 331,500 was the numbers to chase.  Updated chip counts from the field are listed below:

Matthew Bretzfield (Kings Park, NY) no longer needs any introduction, as he's become somewhat of a poker "celebrity" here in South Florida.

If you know anything about the South Florida poker community, then you're aware that the most recent entry to the Flight 1E field has been the talk of the town.  Matthew Bretzfield (Kings Park, FL) came to Florida earlier this February, and while things got started slowly for the ex-New Yorker, he's been on a run that is bordering on inconceivable.

In the past three months, Bretzfield has earned over $150,000 in tournaments, with two title wins here at the Isle.  After earning entry into the $5,250 SHRPO Main Event (via winning a daily tournament there), Bretzfield would reach the final table, eventually earning himself $62,415.  Then, when the Card Player Poker Tour came to the Isle, he'd continue the amazing run.  Taking second place in Event #1 ($360 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD) for $22,473, and the winning then $1,100 No Limit Hold'em CPPT Main Event the following week ($35,443).  And if that wasn't enough, Matthew just took first place in a chop the Isle Open Event #1 (last week), taking home $16,932.

The man is kind of like the "mayor" of each poker room he walks in now, with people even wanting to take pictures with him!!! He may not be known worldwide, but he's definitely become a poker "celebrity" in this community.

Isle Open Event #3 (Flight 1E): His Name Is Engelberth, But You Can Call Him "Steve"

2018 Isle Open | Event #3
$100 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 5 (Blinds 200/400/400)
Total Flight 1E Entries: 62

He's not often spotted at the tournament tables, but Engelberth Valera has chosen this tournament to try and recapture the magic of old.

His legal name is Engelberth Valera, and he's from Venezuela...but most players in the poker community know him as "Steve."  Steve's tournament career started outside of the United states, as he made early waves during LAPT events (from 2010-2013).  Engelberth really broke out onto the scene in 2011, when he final tabled the LAPT Puna Del Estre (Mantra Resort Spa And Casino) $2,500 No Limit Hold'em Main Event.  Valera took third place (outright), which was worth $88,970, and helped kickstart his career.

After coming to the states, Engelberth has seen his tournament volume drop, as much of his focus is on cash game action.  He does play in dailies at surrounding properties, but rarely misses these great value tournaments, that are run during major series.  Valera's last cash was here at the Isle in February, when he placed 37th in a $175 No Limit Hold'em ($50,000 GTD).

A new day...a new group of players looking to bag chips for Monday's Day 2 of Event #3.  After four completed flights for the tournament, there have been a total of (365) entries for the event, with (40) players having bagged chips.  Raul Hernandez (331,500) and Lashone Dobard (279,500) are currently the top two stacks heading to Day 2, and are in line to win the $1,500 No Limit Hold'em (Isle Open Main Event) seat.

The cards are already in the air for Flight 1E, and before we take a look at some of the notables in the field, we will post a full list of chip counts from the four completed flights (Flight 1A-Flight 1D).

Wednesday, October 10th: Early Bird Full House, And The Continuation Of Isle Open Event #3

ICYMI: Event #3 ($100 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD) of the 2018 Isle Open took center stage yesterday, with the seconds pair of opening flights (Flight 1C and Flight 1D).  Flight 1C attracted (95) entries, followed by (125) entries in Flight 1D, for a combined total of (220) for the day.  Of the (24) players to have bagged chips from the flights, one player did eclipse the "chip lead bonus" number, as Lashone Dobard (279,500) sits behind Raul Hernandez.  The two are currently in line to walk away with a $1,500 No Limit Hold'em Isle Open Main Event seat.

Tournaments: The 2018 Isle Open continues today, with Event #3, which is a $100 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD).  The tournament has a total of (14) flights, with a pair each day this week (Monday through Sunday).  Those players that bag chips for the event, will then return on Monday (12:00pm) for Day 2.  The event is structured with 16,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (25) minutes.  Registration for each flight is open through Level 8, and the ten minute break that follows.  Today's flights begin at 11:00am (Flight 1E) and 6:00pm (Flight 1F), with a satellite sandwiched between.

The $30 No Limit Hold'em Satellite Into Event #3 guarantees (10) seats, and begins at 2:00pm.  Details for the satellite's structure can be found by the tournament area, or by calling the poker room.

Promotions: The day begins with the "New Early Bird" Full House Promotion, which started August 27th, and runs every Monday.  Opposed to the full house promotion that includes all games, this particular promotion is for the limit hold'em players.  Starting at 9:00am, the first (25) full houses (in a limit game), will be awarded $40 each.

From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am, with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.

It should also be noted that players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand.  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).

From 12:00am-3:00am, the high hand will be awarded $100 every (60) minutes.
