The tournament clock just transitioned over to Level 16, which is the final scheduled level of Flight 1G.  When there are 10:00 minutes remaining in the level, the clock will be paused, and the tournament supervisor will announce how many hands remain.  Once those hands are completed at each table, the bags will be brought out, and players will be handed their "ticket" for Day 2 (Sunday at 12:00pm).  There is a small caveat though...if the field reaches the 10% mark before the ten minute mark, the flight will end there.

Once the bagging process is completed, official chip counts from Flight 1G will be posted.

Javier Sarache (Pembroke Pines, FL) is once again within arms length of bagging, and hopes to not experience the same fate as yesterday.

Javier Sarache (Pembroke Pines, FL) must be experiencing a little deja vu, as he sits with one of the larger stacks in the room, coming down the homestretch of the flight.  During yesterday's Flight 1E, Sarache was still alive with two tables remaining, and was one of the top stacks.  Unfortunately, his efforts were for naught, as he was unable to bag chips.  Javier currently sits with just over 180,000, as players head towards the final break of the flight.

Cairo Kormann (Brazil) is a relative unknown to those here at the Isle, but he's making a strong introduction, leading the field at the registration break.

PLayers are about to head on their second break of the day, and when play resumes in Level 9, registration for Flight 1G will be closed.  This was by far the largest of the seven flights to have been played, with the prize pool now over $144,000.  There are only two players across the floor with stacks over the century, with Cairo Kormann (Brazil) holding the chip lead (with 120,000).  Kormann has $2,892 in lifetime earnings, all coming from events in Las Vegas (2017-2018).  Once play resumes, we will bring official numbers from the flight, followed by updated chip counts from the field.

$200 NLH "Isle New Year Kickstart" (Flight 1G): Evan Teitelbaum Returns Fast, Active Style Works Out Second Time Around

$100,000 GTD
Level 7 (Blinds 300/600/600)
Total Flight 1G Entries: 200

From the moment Evan Teitelbaum walked into the poker room today, he was going to be about activity, which worked out for him moments ago.

About twenty minutes after Evan Teitelbaum exited the tournament area, we caught him in action again, with all of his chips in the middle.  With a pot of close to 20,000, Evan was all-in for 16,000, on the river of a board that read J♣ 9♠ 6 5 8♠.  His opponent (who had Teitelbaum covered) went into the tank for a few moments, before tossing in a chip for a call.  Evan tabled 6 7♣, having rivered a straight, which was good to take down the pot.  His adversary flashed 5♠ 6, having turned two pair, a hand he was unable to find a fold with.  Evan is now over 60,000, and from his play so far today, has eyes on bagging a big stack,

Evan Teitelbaum - 64,000 (106bb)

$200 NLH "Isle New Year Kickstart" (Flight 1G): Oleg Karpov Benefits From Teitelbaum's Fast Play

Level 6 (Blinds 300/500/500)
Total Flight 1G Entries: 172

Oleg Karpov (Staten Island, NY) just vaulted up the leaderboard, after picking off a bluff from Evan Teitelbaum.

In a tournament such as this, where bagging a big stack is crucial, certain players come in with a mindset of "playing fast."  That was the case for Evan Teitelbaum, who was super active from the moment he sat down at the table.  When we passed Table 6, Evan had just gone all-in for 15,000, on a flop of 8♣ 7 3.  Oleg Karpov was next to act, and with one person behind, he took his time before making the call.  The unknown player behind folded his hand, and the cards were then tabled:

Teitelbaum: K Q♠
Karpov: 7♠ 7♣

Turn: 3
River: 6♠

Karpov was in great shape once the cards found their backs, having flopped a set against Evan's king-high.  The turn did bring outs to a flush for Teitelbaum, but he'd brick the river, and Karpov would scoop the pot.

Oleg Karpov - 85,000 (170bb)

Level 4 (Blinds 200/300/300)
Total Flight 1G Entries: 152

Scott Hardwood (New York, NY) came into the day brimming with confidence (off his most recent score), but was welcomed with aces cracked just moments into his session.

If you've played tournament poker in South Florida, than you likely know the names Loni Harwood...and Joel Harwood.  Loni is a WSOP bracelet winner with over $2,918,000 in lifetime earnings, and is widely considered one of the best tournament players in the country.  Joel, who is Loni's father, also has a pretty impressive tournament resume (boasting over $240,000 in earnings).  The Harwood that players may not know so well is Scott, who broke out onto the poker scene last year.

Scott had over $61,700 in earnings over the past twelve months, capping his year off with at $23,670 score during the most recent Fun In The Sun series (two weeks ago at Seminole Hard Rock).  Harwood took sixth place money in the deal, which now stands as the largest tournament cash of his career.  Scott has some work to do in order to catch up to his sister (and father), but if last year was a sign of things to come, it won't take long for Harwood to make a name for himself in the community.

Scott headlines the second look at notables in the field, joining the likes of:

Hector Pacheco
Morris Heider
Nigel Murray
Jorge Chavez
Edgard Mendes
Nagui Yassa
Danny Blackburn
Chad Millward
Joseph Durso
Raymond Winters
Joseph Marchese

Ian Cohen (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) looked to be making a pained call when he was photographed, but it ended up being the right one, and he'd increase his stack to close to 30,000.

To put this into perspective, just two levels into action, today's field is already larger than four of the completed flights to this point.  Word has spread about the incredible success of the event, and we are seeing lots of faces that weren't present earlier in the week.  One player taking his first shot at bagging in the event is Ian Cohen (Ft. Lauderdale, FL).  Cohen had put in solid tournament volume earlier last year, but focused more on cash games after the summer.  He did have over $15,400 in earnings in 2018, highlighted a trophy win in the $250 No Limit Hold'em "Single-Ante" ($30,000 GTD) event, that ran during the Battles At The Beach ($5,774).  Ian's last recorded result came in November, when he chopped the $130 No Limit Hold'em "Survivor" ($3,000 GTD) event, that has become a staple of the recurring schedule.

Cohen headlines the first look at notables in the field, which includes names like:

George Lukawski
Willie Wiggins
Gary Fitzgerald
Jose Parra
Thomas Millward
Michael Corbett
William Underdown
Blaine McRae
Richard Leger
Richard Wetter

Tournaments: With the "Isle New Year Kickstart" having turned into just a massive event, todays' final pair of flights are expected to be busy (so it's suggested players arrive early).  Flight 1G (at 11:00am) and Flight 1H (6:00pm) both carry the same structure: with 20,000 unit starting stacks, (30) minute levels, and registration that is open through Level 8.  Play is scheduled to conclude after Level 16, or if the 10% mark is reached before that point (which has happened the first two flights of the event).

At 2:00pm, there is a $55 No Limit Hold'em Satellite into the "Isle New Year Kickstart." The satellite it structured with 10,000 unit starting stacks, (15) minute levels, and registration that is open through Level 8.

Promotions: The high hands will run from 9:00am-12:00am, with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.

It should also be noted that players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand.  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).

There is also a "Bonus High Hand" period today (from 6:00pm-12:00am), offering players the opportunity to win up to $1,000 every half-hour.  In addition to the "standard" high hand period listed above, if the winning high hand for the half-hour is quads or better (using both hole cards), the prize will be $1,000.  Any other qualifying high hand will revert to the "standard" high hand rules.
