"June $50,000 GTD" (Flight 1G): Persad Bags The Flight 1G Chip Lead With Last Minute Fireworks

"June $50,000 GTD"
$75 No Limit Hold'em
Level 16 (Blinds 2,000/4,000/500)
Flight 1G Players Remaining: 33/239

Nick Persad (Delray Beach, FL)

It looked as if Ariel Williams (Miami, FL) was going to bag the bonus, as she led the field with it's impending conclusion right around the corner.  That was until it was announced that Nick Persad (Delray Beach, FL) had 278,000, with surpassed Ariel's stack of 237,000.  Persad earns himself $500 for the chip leading effort, which is almost $200 more than his career tournament earnings.  Persad had one cash on his Hendon Mob, which came here at the Isle Poker Room in 2015.

The dealers and tournament staff are currently wrapping up the bagging process, with the official chip counts to follow.  This will conclude "live coverage" of Flight 1G, with things to pick back up tomorrow at 12:00pm, for Day 2 of this "June $50,000 GTD."  The Flight 1H field already has over (207) entries, and with the addition of what's expected to be the largest flight of the nine...we could be looking at a potential $90,000 prize pool!!!

"June $50,000 GTD" (Flight 1G): Williams Looking To Make Her Move

"June $50,000 GTD"
$75 No Limit Hold'em
Level 16 (Blinds 2,000/4,000/500)
Flight 1G Players Remaining: 34/239

Ariel Williams (Miami, FL)

Ariel Williams (Miami, FL) had been grinding a below average stack, but since Level 12, she has been trending in the right direction.  Moments ago she opened from early position to 8,500, and ended up getting four calls behind her.  After the 3 4 5 flop, Williams continuation bet would see resistance, as the player who called from the button shoved for close to 45,000.  Williams made the call pretty quickly, and saw her opponent table A 5.  Ariel rolled over her K K, which became even stronger after the K on the turn.  She'd need to fade a deuce on the river, which exactly what happened, and William's would chip up 165,000.
We are on the "bubble" (so to say) for the end of the flight, with now (34) active players remaining in the field.  After the next elimination, the clock will be passed, and we will find out who the recipient of the $500 bonus will be.

"June $50,000 GTD" (Flight 1G): Pacheco Has Been Here Before, Hopes To Vault Before Time's Up

"June $50,000 GTD"
$75 No Limit Hold'em
Level 15 (Blinds 1,500/3,000/400)
Flight 1G Players Remaining: 46/239

Hector Pacheco (Laughlin, NV)

Hector Pacheco was one of the chip leaders from a starting flight during the "May $100,000 GTD," but he was not able to carry his Day 1 momentum over to Day 2.  Hector ended up finishing in 43rd place for $483, which was surely a disappointing finish after the standing he came into Day 2 with.  Pacheco was one of the last entrants into this flight, and has increased his starting stack of 15,000 to now 150,000.  With an undetermined amount of time left in this flight, the race is on for the $500 bonus, and any of the following names could grab the extra pocket change:

Will Cusella - 215,000
John Mayers - 165,000
Ray Garcia - 160,000
Hector Pacheco - 148,000
Rita Balbirer - 130,000
Justin Le - 130,000
Ariel Williams - 125,000

"June $50,000 GTD" (Flight 1G): Going To Be "Up Against The Mark," Early Has Been The Pattern

"June $50,000 GTD"
$75 No Limit Hold'em
Level 15 (Blinds 1,500/3,000/400)
Flight 1G Players Remaining: 47/239

Yesterday afternoon we saw the Flight 1D players bag up after returning from this break, and while that's not going to happen today, it doesn't seem as if all (18) scheduled levels are going to be played today.  Play will be paused once the field reaches (33) players, and the flight will end there,  That means that the action has just been "pushed forward" in a sense, and the race for the chip leas bonus could stop short.  An updated list of counts from the field will be posted once the cards are back in the air, with those that are in the running for the $500 prize.

"June $50,000 GTD" (Flight 1G): Cusella Coming Out Of Nowhere

"June $50,000 GTD"
$75 No Limit Hold'em
Level 14 (Blinds 1,200/2,400/300)
Flight 1G Players Remaining: 68/239

Will Cusella (West Palm Beach, FL)

As the cool kids would say, "don't sleep" on Will Cusella (West Palm Beach, FL), who moments ago became the first player in the field with over 200,000.  As mentioned earlier, Cusella doesn't yet have a score on his Hendon Mob resume, but it's likely because he spends most of his time playing at Palm Beach Kennel Club.  Unless it was the WSOP circuit, none of the tournament results from that property are submitted to the statistical recording website.  Cusella's initial goal was just to reach Day 2 of the event, but now he can realistically begin thinking about the $500 chip lead bonus.

The cards got in the air for Flight 1H about (30) minutes ago, with another wave of players trying to successfully bag chips for tomorrow's Day 2.  Notables in the field include:

Zakarya Wolgamott
Juan Rodriguez
Barry Axelrod
Ian Bishop
Scott Hecker

This 11:00am flight will be heading on their final break of the day at the conclusion of this level (Level 14), and will return to finish the final four levels (unless the 13% mark is reached).

"June $50,000 GTD" (Flight 1G): Alex's Aggression Sees Him Grab The Lead

"June $50,000 GTD"
$75 No Limit Hold'em
Level 12 (Blinds 800/1,600/200)
Flight 1G Players Remaining: 87/239

Alexander Thomas (Gainesville, FL)

After two limpers (for 1,200) and a few folds, Alexander Thomas (Gainesville, FL) would raise to 3,500 on the button.  The small blind would make the call, as well as the players who limped, with four players going to the flop of A 9♠ 3♣.  Action checked to Thomas, who continued with a bet of 6,000.  Just the player in the small blind called, and he then checked to Thomas after the J on the turn.  Thomas quickly grabbed a stack of yellow (5,000 denomination) chips, and put out a 30,000 bet (which was enough to put his opponent all-in).  That bet was enough to elicit a fold, and Thomas scooped a nice sized pot, and chipped up to 170,000...which is good for the Flight 1G chip lead at the moment.

"June $50,000 GTD" (Flight 1G): Scheinberg First To Separate, Prize Pool Could Reach $80,000

"June $50,000 GTD"
$75 No Limit Hold'em
Level 9 (Blinds 400/800/100)
Flight 1G Players Remaining: 119/239

Michael Scheinberg (Miami, FL)

Flight 1G registration is now officially closed, and the final number for the 11:00am flight is (239) entries. That is $12,667 going towards the combined prize pool, which now sits over $61,000.  There are still two more flights scheduled for the afternoon/evening, with tonight's expected to be the largest of the nine.  The idea of a prize pool that ends up over $80,000-$90,000 is not as much of a stretch to think.

Ray Garcia still sits with a top three stack in the field, but it's now Michael Scheinberg (Miami, FL) who holds the chip lead.  Scheinberg is over 150,000, and would be considered a real favorite to be around when the "race of the chip lead bonus" gets serious.  Scheinberg works in finance, with a schedule that doesn't allow much time for poker during the week.  If there is a Saturday starting flight for a sizable tournament, Scheinberg is usually in attendance.  He has over $27,000 in career tournament earnings, including a runner-up finish over Memorial Day Weekend in a $120 No Limit Hold'em event ($2,339).  We've seen how "fickle" the leaderboard has been over the first six starting flights, so it's still wide open for those interested in earning the extra $500 "bonus."

Michael Scheinberg - 155,000
Ray Garcia - 110,000
Mike Spadafore - 88,000
Hector Pacheco - 60,000
Will Cusella - 55,000
Diane Linke - 50,000

"June $50,000 GTD" (Flight 1G): Garcia On Top For The Moment

"June $50,000 GTD"
$75 No Limit Hold'em
Level 8 (Blinds 300/600/75)
Total Flight 1G Entries: 218

Ray Garcia (Houston, TX)

Flight 1G play just entered Level 8, which is the final level of open registration for players to enter (or re-enter) this 11:00am flight.  Ray Garcia (Pompano Beach, FL) is one of the chip leaders in this field, which is now north of (200) entries.  Garcia's next recorded cash would actually be his first, which is something that most poker players never forget.  The 75,000 stack is well over (100) big blinds at the moment, but the structure of this event definitely pushes the action once registration closes, so he still has some navigating to do in order to reach the bagging process.

One of the other larger stacks in the field belongs to Will Cusella (West Palm Beach, FL), another recreational player that is looking to notch his first Hendon Mob recorded cash.  The lack of tournament resume is no knock on Cusella's ability, as most all of his playing is in cash games.  Cusella sits just below Garcia's number, playing 61,000 at the moment.

There will be a (15) minute break at the conclusion of this level, with action resuming at 1:38pm.  Once cards are back in the air, updated chip counts will be tallied from the field and posted.

"June $50,000 GTD" (Flight 1G): Linke Has A Pretty Good Backup Plan

"June $50,000 GTD"
$75 No Limit Hold'em
Level 6 (Blinds 200/400/50)
Total Flight 1G Entries: 188

Diane Linke (Delray Beach, FL)

Last week was the first ever running of the "Hard Stop, ICM Chop" event, a $100 No Limit Hold'em tournament with a little bit of a wrinkle.  One of the things that players sometimes see as a "negative" in regards to tournament poker, is the length of time that it takes to finish certain events.  The idea behind this particular tournament was to give players the assurance that they would be done by a set time, and not have to worry about playing super deep into the night.  Last week's event had a $2,500 guaranteed prize pool, and ended in a heads-up chop between Tom Gity (who took first place money) and Diane Link (pictured above).  Diane earned $800 of the runner-up finish, which brought her career earnings to just below $8,000.  Linke's current goal is to bag chips and eventually win this particular tournament, but she can rest assure knowing that tomorrow offers a "second chance" to players that bust.  At 6:00pm tomorrow evening, the second running of the "Hard Stop, ICM Chop" event will be run, but this time with a $5,000 guarantee.

Diane headlines the second group of notables in the field, with many players still trying to get their hands on a bag for the first time this week:

Glenn Popkin
Michael Hefley
Alexander Thomas
Benjamin Robinson
Jack Sedacka
Cory Santacroce
Danielle Bastarache
Ronald Arena
Thomas Gari
Philip Tuttle
Trent Trimble

"June $50,000 GTD" (Flight 1G): Looking To Make It "Miller Time" This Flight

"June $50,000 GTD"
$75 No Limit Hold'em
Level 4 (Blinds 100/200)
Total Flight 1G Entries: 150

David Miller (Davie, FL)

There is one thing that can always be counted on during multi-flight/multi-day tournaments...the final day of flights before Day 2 will always attract the largest fields.  This 11:00am flight already has 150 entries, with four more levels remaining before registration closes (including the break after Level 8).   Isle Poker tournament regular David Miller is coming off of two solid months of play, recording six cashes since April, with five of those final table finishes.  Miller's second best tournament cash came last month, when he bubbled the final table of the "May $100,000 GTD."  The experience is still fresh for Miller, who knows that pending some help from the cards, that he's capable of another deep run in this event.

There are a lot of players in the Flight 1G field that have waited until now to fire a bullet into this great event, knowing that they have two more chances (3:00pm and 7:00pm) if things don't quite go as planned:

Thelma Schuman
Will Cusella
Juan Rodriguez
Stephen Smith
Nachum Lumelski
Eric Piderit
David Zwiebel
Kenneth Schockett
Jim Gleason

"June $50,000 GTD"
$75 No Limit Hold'em
Level 1 (Blinds 25/50)
Total Flight 1G Entries: N/A

There have been six completed flights to this point, and after Flights 1A-1F, the "June $50,000 GTD" has a total of (919) entries.  The significance of that number?  The amount going towards the total prize pool from those six flights is $48,707...just over $1,000 away from the $50,000 guarantee.  To this point, there have been (120) players to bag chips for tomorrow's Day 2, with an average stack of 115,000.  There have been six "chip lead bonus winners," with Thomas Millward's Flight 1C still leading the way:

Flight 1A: Gerald Blum (248,000)
Flight 1B: Joe Latona (281,200)
Flight 1C: Thomas Millward (343,200)
Flight 1D: James Scott (326,300)
Flight 1E: Andrew Davis (314,800)
Flight 1F: Lisa Teebagy (339,900)

The cards will be in the air momentarily for Flight 1G, with Ralph Brandt going over the rules announcement for the players already seated in the tournament area.  A combined list of official chip counts will be posted shortly, followed by the first look at familiar faces making up this afternoon flight.

Saturday, June 10th: Guarantee Going To Be Crushed, Final Three $50,000 GTD Flights On Tap

ICYMI: As one would expect, everything was a little "bigger" yesterday, in regards to the "June $50,000 GTD" event.  After a total of (402) entries on Thursday, the trio of Friday flights attracted an impressive (516) entries.  Flight 1D had (150) entries, with (20) players bagging chips for tomorrow's Day 2, led by James Scott (Pembroke Pines, FL) with 326,300.  Flight 1E had a total of (146) entries, with (19) players bagging chips for Day 2, led by Andrew Davis with 314,800.  And last but not least, we had Flight 1F at night, which had (221) total entries.  That final flight of the day saw (28) players manage to reach the bagging process, led by Lisa Teebagy (339,900).

The thing to note about this tournament coming into the day, is the fact that the prize pool is currently just a few thousand dollars away from the $50,000 guarantee that was posted.  We've been saying that the number should land somewhere between $60,000-$70,000 once the registration closes on Flight 1I, but it could land even higher.

Tournaments: There are three more flights on today's schedule for the $75 No Limit Hold'em "June Guarantee," starting at 11:00am with Flight 1G.  The same structure applies from the last six flights, with players who bust the morning flight able to enter either Flight 1H at 3:00pm, or Flight 1I at 7:00pm.

Promotions: The high hand promotions take another "breather" today, between yesterday's (11) hours worth of "turbo" high hands, tomorrow's (7) hours of $300 high hands (awarded every 15 minutes).  The "standard high hand" procedure is in place, awarded prizes to qualifying high hands every (30) minutes (with rollovers).
