Monday, November 13th: Interesting Storyline Plays Out As "November $100,000" Ends In Final Table Chop, Returning To Regularly Scheduled Programming

ICYMI: A total of (103) players returned at 12:00pm yesterday afternoon, all looking to claim the $21,915 first place prize of the "November $100,000."  The $175 buy-in tournament attracted a total of (893) entries, spread over eight starting flights, which ran from Wednesday to Saturday.  The first trend of the day was speed, as the field reached them money just a few levels into the day, and continued losing players at a rapid pace.  That pace would see just two tables remaining after five hours of play, with another trend beginning to take shape.  A number of the players that remained were those that came into the day in the top fifteen in chips (for Day 2).  While it seems like that would be a common occurrence in tournaments, it's rare to see such a large number of Day 2 chip leaders continue to stay atop the leaderboard as the day plays out.  After the elimination of Luis Santoni (Puerto Rico) in 11th place ($1,815), the remaining players would find new seats at the final table.  No hands would be dealt though, as the group began discussion of a chop, and eventually agreed to a deal that would end the event.  Pedro Palacio (Delray Beach, FL) would be declared the tournament's winner, earning $10,451 for his "wire-to-wire" win.  Palacio returned to Day 2 with the largest stack, which is another rare feat you'll see in a tournament.  The top four players in the deal actually returned to Day 2 in the top eleven in chip counts.  The results from the chop are listed below, the official results from the event found by clicking here.

  1. Pedro Palacio (Delray Beach, FL) $10,451
  2. Craig Witz (Hypoluxo, FL) $10,287
  3. Jozef Ujlaky (Naples, FL) $9,541
  4. Michael Marks (Boynton Beach, FL) $8,631
  5. Ken Bruno (Atlantis, FL) $6,656
  6. Elliot Goldman (Delray Beach, FL) $6,251
  7. Pablo Medeiros (Miami, FL) $6,195
  8. Engelberth Moreno (Venezuela) $5,922
  9. Carlos Yepez (Miami, FL) $5,536
  10. Hashim Burney (Miami Beach, FL) $5,435
There was another event on the schedule last night, as the cards were in the air for the $130 No Limit Hold'em "Hard Stop, ICM Chop" ($2,500 GTD) event at 6:00pm.  Once registration closed, there were (34) entries in the field, and a prize pool of $3,468.  There would be five players reaching the money, and a posted first place prize of $1,423.  Action would reach heads-up play, at which point a deal was made between Anthony Albano (Deerfield Beach, FL) and Paul Efron (Coconut Creek, FL).
  1. Anthony Albano (Deerfield Beach, FL) $1,200
  2. Paul Efron (Coconut Creek, FL) $1,090
  3. Edward Rappa (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $520
  4. Jessie Roberts (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $381
  5. Alberto Werber (Boca Raton, FL) $277

Tournaments: The "daily tournament" schedule continues today, with the cards getting in the air at 11:00am, for the $100 No Limit Hold'em "Big Stack Turbo Bounty" ($2,000 GTD).  Players begin the tournament with an 18,000 unit starting stack, and play levels that last (15) minutes throughout the event.  There is an optional add-on at the end of registration (after Level 10), with $25 seeing a return of 10,000 units (100% of add-on money goes towards the prize pool).  For every player elimination, a $25 bounty is awarded.

The evening tournament (6:00pm) sees the big numbers return, as the action begins for the $130 No Limit Hold'em ($20,000 GTD).  The event is structured with 16,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (20) minutes over the course of the tournament.

Promotions: From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am (midnight), with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible (Isle Open events not eligible for high hand) each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.  From 12:00am-9:00am, players are eligible for $100 high hands every hour.

It should also be noted that starting November 1st, players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand!!!  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).
