Calixto Rodriguez (Pembroke Pines, FL) would shove from under-the-gun (for less than ten bigs), with Steve Olivier re-shoving next to act.  After action folded to the shortest stack at the table (Rudy Vazquez), he would announce himself all-in as well.  Action folded behind, and it would be the K♠ K of Vazquez besting the A K♣ of Rodriguez, and the 7♠ 7♣ of Olivier (Olivier won a small side pot, having both players covered).

$100,000 Guaranteed Prize Pool
Level 29 (Blinds 50,000/100,000/10,000)
Total Entries: 1,021
Players Remaining: 21

- Only a few hands back from break, Brian Hastings would shove from late position for 800,000, with Calixto Rodriguez calling out of the big blind.  Calixto's A J♠ would best Hastings Q♠ 7♠ on a runout of A7 9♠ 8 10♣.  Brian would be eliminated in 23rd place ($587).

- Moments after the elimination of Hastings, Robert Perniola would be all-in and at risk against Will "O," with Perniola holding A♠ Q against A♣ K.  The K♠ K 7 J♣ K♠ would give Will quads, and eliminate Perniola in 22nd place ($587).

- The pot of the tournament occurred just moments ago between Jeff Burdeen and Rami Ezra.  The two would get the chips in pre-flop, for a pot worth close to 4,000,000.  It was the A♠ A♣ of Burdeen leading Ezra's Q Q♠, but the J♣ 7♣ Q♣ 10♣ J♠ runout would bring a lot of drama.  Ezra took the lead with a set on the fop, Burdeen would grab the lead back after turning a flush, and Ezra ended up winning the hand after the board paired on the river (giving him a full house).  Ezra is up to 3,900,000, while Burdeen gets cut down to 300,000.

Event 16 (Day 2): Beginning To Feel "Hyper-ish"

Event 16 ($150 No Limit Hold'em Re-Entry)
$100,000 Guaranteed Prize Pool
Level 29 (Blinds 50,000/100,000/10,000)
Total Entries: 1,021
Players Remaining: 24

Players are currently on a (10) minute break, and will be returning to Level 29, and new blinds of 50,000/100,000/10,000.  The chip average is just over 1,000,000, which is only (10) big blinds, making the tournament feel almost like a "hyper-turbo."  Even though the levels are (25) minutes in length, the stacks will not become "deep" again until the field closes in on the final table.  There are a handful of player returning from break with less than (10) big blinds, so we should see our first re-draw (at 18 players) pretty quickly once play resumes.

Daniel Pearlman (Pembroke Pines, FL)

Now that the orange (1,000 denomination) chips have been taken out of play, it makes collecting the chip counts a little easier (and quicker).  The field took their second break of the day just moments ago, with (62) players still vying for the Event 16 trophy.  Accomplished poker professional Brian Hastings has flown under the radar until now (which is usually difficult for a player with $2,500,000 in live earnings alone), and he was about to be the chip leader at the break...until he was involved in a huge hand with Daniel Pearlman (Pembroke Pines, FL).

With a short stack shoving from early position, action folded around to Daniel Pearlman, who re-shoved from the small blind (for approximately 500,000).  Hastings was in the big blind with over 1,000,000, and decided to make the call, putting both players at risk.  Pearlman had A A♠ against Hasting's KJ (third player has A 8♣), and after the K♠5♠ J♣ flop, it looked as if Hastings was going to take a commanding chip lead.  The board would pair on the river with another five though, counterfeiting Hastings's flopped two pair, and giving Pearlman the pot worth well over 1,000,000.

Daniel Pearlman - 1,500,000
Rami Ezra - 1,400,000
Jeff Burdeen - 1,300,000
Will "O" - 1,100,000
Arie Benmayor - 1,100,000
Brian Hastings - 900,000
Steve Olivier - 900,000

Total Entries: 1,021
Players Remaining: 81

Thomas Gari (Hollywood, FL)
The hand-for-hand stage of Day 2 last all of two hands, with Thomas Gari eliminating A. Nonymous (player asked not to be mentioned) in a blind v. blind confrontation.  After action folded around to A. Nonymous, he'd shove just under 100,000, only needed to get through Gari in the big blind.  Thomas happened to wake up with A♠ K, and he'd be in dominating position after making the call:

Gari: A♠ K
A. Nonymous: A 4♣

Board: 3 9♠ 8♣ 7 5♣

Once all of the tournament tables were finished with that hand, tournament staff broke one of the "outer" tournament tables, and the cards are once again in the air.  All of the players to cash in this event will be posted (by pay jump), along with updates from the field as we play down to an Event 16 winner.

The Day 2 field is only a handful of eliminations from the money, with hand-for-hand to begin when (81) players remain.  A lap around the field did yield a number of those larger stacks that weren't mentioned in the prior post:

Michael Hefley - 560,000
Karen Buffy - 520,000
