CPPT Event #1 (Flight 1D): Kastler Running Pure, Sends the Flight 1D Field Into The Money

2018 Card Player Poker Tour (Isle Casino Pompano Park)
Event #1 | $360 No Limit Hold'em ($200,000 GTD)
Level 16 (Blinds 2,500/5,000/5,000)

Flight 1D Players Remaining: 17

The Flight 1D hand-for-hand process only lasted five minutes, as Christopher Kastler knocked out Adam Arbuckle on the bubble.  Kastler opened to 11,000 from the hijack (he had over 200,000 behind), with Arbuckle three-betting to 30,000 on the button (with just over 110,000 behind).  Stephen Krackomberger gave a lot of thought to his hand (big blind), but ended up released, which was followed by a four-bet shove from Kastler.  Arbuckle made the call, and the hands would be tabled:

Arbuckle: A♠ K
Kastler: K J♠

Runout: 9♠ 3♣ 2 J 10

Things looked pretty sweet for Arbuckle after the flop, but Kastler spiked a jack on the turn, giving him a commanding lead...which would not be relinquished.  There were no players eliminated on the same hand from Table 2, making Arbuckle the Flight 1D bubble.  Everyone remaining is guaranteed at least $500, with the final (7) players bagging chips for Day 2.

Official results will be posted as they're reached, with official chip counts from Flight 1D to follow (after the bagging process is completed).

CPPT Event #1 (Flight 1D): Michael Moreno Eliminated Short Of The Money Bubble, Christopher Kastler Building Castles

2018 Card Player Poker Tour (Isle Casino Pompano Park)
Event #1 | $360 No Limit Hold'em ($200,000 GTD)
Level 14 (Blinds 2,000/3,000/3,000)
Total Flight 1D Entries: 132
Flight 1D Players Remaining: 25

Christopher Kastler (Harrisburg, NC) just climbed up the leaderboard, eliminating Michael Moreno from Flight 1D play.

The field just moved one spot closer to the money, as Michael Moreno was eliminated from Table 1.  After A. Nonymous raised to 8,000, Christopher Kastler made the call, with Moreno then three-bet shoving for 49,500.  A. Nonymous would go deep into the tank, eventually folding his hand, allowing Kastler to make the call:

Kastler: 10 10
Moreno: A♠ J♣

Runout: Q♠ 2♣ 6 7♣ 2♠

Moreno's elimination leaves the field just nine away from the money, while Kastler chips up to 220,000 with the pot.

CPPT Event #1 (Flight 1D): After Reaching FSPC Main Event Final Table, Marc Duquette Looking To Make Another Deep Run

2018 Card Player Poker Tour (Isle Casino Pompano Park)
Event #1 | $360 No Limit Hold'em ($200,000 GTD)
Level 12 (Blinds 1,000/2,000/2,000)
Total Flight 1D Entries: 132
Flight 1D Players Remaining: 37

Marc Duquette finished sixth in the $1,500 FSPC Main Event, earning a career best score of $29,390.

Just a few weeks removed from his final table run during the FSPC Main Event, Marc Duquette (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) looks to be picking up where he left off.  After three limps at Table 2, and a raise to 10,000 from the small blind, Duqeutte flatted out of the big blind.  The original limpers folded, and after a K♠ 8 4♣, Duquette would find himself all-in against the player in the small blind, who held pocket jacks.  Marc's A Q needed a lot of help, which he'd receive on the river, in the form of an ace.  Duquette's opponent slammed the table (which could be heard across the room), but not show of frustration was going to get his chips back.

Marc scooped up the pot, which brought his stack to 160,000, one of the top numbers as players prepare for their third break of the day

Marc Duqeutte - 160,000 (80bb)

CPPT Event #1 (Flight 1D): Always Nice To Recover After Bubbling A Tournament

David Poces (Boca Raton, FL) walked away empty handed last night, but looks to put that behind him, as he sits with a top ten stack in Level 11.

Less than twenty-four hours ago, David Poces (Boca Raton, FL) ran into a cooler on the bubble of Flight 1B, and would be eliminated just a few spots short of the money.  Undeterred by the tough beat, Poces came back this afternoon to try and better the result, and looks to be headed in that direction.  The field is still over twenty bust outs from the money, but Poces sits with 120,000 heading into Level 11, which is amongst the top stacks in the room.

David Poces - 123,000 (76bb)

CPPT Event #1 (Flight 1D): First Look At Updated Chip Counts From The Flight 1D Field

Marek Madro (Tamarac, FL) finds himself as the chip leader for the second day in a row, so it will be interesting to see if he can best the min-cash from yesterday's Flight 1B.

There is a familiar face atop the leaderboard heading into Level 10, as Marek Madro (Tamarac, FL) holds a commanding lead over the rest of the field. Madro currently sits with 250,000, which is almost 150,000 more than his nearest competitor.  That being said, Marek was second in chips yesterday (post registration break), and ended up min-cashing.  Now there is nothing wrong with reaching the money in these opening flights, but we saw Marek open up his game incredibly (after grabbing a chip lead), so he's capable of a fluctuating number moving forward.  Updated counts from the field are listed below:

Marek Madro - 250,000 (208bb)
Thomas Millward - 105,000 (87bb)
Sergio Amato - 95,000 (79bb)
Oleg Gaidouk - 80,000 (66bb)
Kevin Scarola - 75,000 (62bb)
Marc Luquete - 75,000 (62bb)
"Rit" - 75,000 (62bb)
Tony Ruberto - 60,000 (50bb)

Event #1 | $360 No Limit Hold'em ($200,000 GTD)
Level 8 (Blinds 400/800/800)
Total Flight 1D Entries: 130

Thomas Millward (Boca Raton, FL) has made a lot of deep tournament runs this year, but its still looking for that highlighting score, which could come in this opening event of the Card Player Poker Tour.

As the registration window closes for Flight 1D (just this level and the break remains to enter), Thomas Millward as emerged as the early chip leader.  The tournament regular has just over 100,000, and while there are a handful of players right on his heels, nobody else has yet to have eclipsed the century mark.

Players will be taking their second break of the day at the end of this level, returning to Level 9, and new blinds of 500/1,000/1,000.  Once play resumes, registration will be closed, and we will bring you all of the pertinent numbers to this fourth starting flight of Event #1.

CPPT Event #1 (Flight 1D): Richard Kirsch Decides To Splash Around, Jumps In As Registration Window Closes

Total Flight 1D Entries: 124

2018 has been a solid tournament year for Richard Kirsch (Ft. Lauderdale, FL), who fell one spot short of a US Poker Open title, but earned $128,000 for his efforts.

The late entries continue to pile in, with some new faces joining the action for the first time this event.  Richard Kirsch (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) just sat down at Table 2, looking to put himself in position for his first post-WSOP tournament cash.  Right before the WSOP started, Kirsch won a $360 No Limit Hold'em single-day event here at the Isle, taking home $8,580 in a heads-up deal.  Richard would then go on to cash in five events during the WSOP, which were worth a combined $32,000.  Since returning from Las Vegas, Kirsch's focus has been primarily on cash-game action, but he took some time out this afternoon to try and bag chips for Monday's Day 2.  Some other "fashionably late" arrivals to the Flight 1D field are listed below:

Evan Teitelbaum
Tony Ruberto
Vito Polera
Chad Millward
Kevin Chan
Paul Kern
Richard Griffis
Manelic Minaya
Blake Robbins

While the Flight 1D field continues to take shape, we have the opportunity to take a look at the full schedule for this series.  The headlining event of the series begins next Thursday (August 23rd), and is an $1,100 No Limit Hold'em ($250,000 GTD).  There are numerous satellites for many of the events, as well as standard one-day tournaments for players to choose from.

Total Flight 1D Entries: 106

Brenda Nelson (Delray Beach, FL) had frequented many of the multi-flight tournament here at the Isle over the last few months, and is looking for her "breakout" score.

Not all of the notables in the field are household names, but that doesn't mean they lack any experience in tournaments.  Brenda Nelson (Delray Beach, FL) has been someone we've seen in events as of late, most recently cashing in the $175 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD) that was run here in June.  Brenda finished in 38th place, which earned her $500, and helped bring her career earnings north of $30,000.  Nelson has recorded (24) results since November of 1997, but is still looking for her first tournament win.  That initial result from 1997, a $100 No Limit Hold'em tournament in Amsterdam, still stands as her largest cash (2nd place for $4,490).

Brenda headlines our second look at notables in the Flight 1D field, joining the likes of:

Kevin Scarola
Jacobo Fernandez
Kenneth Bruno
Greg Rosen
Nissim Gozlan
Thomas Millward
Oneil McCalla
Matthew Zarcadoolas

CPPT Event #1 (Flight 1D): More Transplants From The Northeast Finding Their Way To The Isle

2018 Card Player Poker Tour (Isle Casino Pompano Park)
Event #1 | $360 No Limit Hold'em ($200,000 GTD)
Level 4 (Blinds 200/300/300)
Total Flight 1D Entries: 75

Richard DeVivo (Lake Worth, FL) is still looking to find his stride down here in Florida, after making a name for himself in the Northeast poker community.

Yesterday it was Fritz Stoner...today there is another Northeast transplant in the field, as Richard DeVivo makes his was to the Isle Casino Pompano Park for the first time.  Richard was a staple figure at many of the series at both Borgata (Atlantic City) and Parx (Bensalem, PA), amassing a nice tournament resume while he was there.  From 2015 to 2016, Richard won a combined $100,000 from tournaments, but his breakout score came in 2014.  DeVivo won a $500 No Limit Hold'em event during the Borgata Summer Poker Open, which saw him earn just over $20,800.

Since moving to Florida, Richard has cashed in one event, which was a $150 No Limit Hold'em (daily) at Seminole Hard Rock (11th place for $538).  He's still searching for his first Isle Poker tournament cash, which he hopes comes during this opening event of the Card Player Poker Tour.  Richard joins some other notables in this Flight 1C field, including:

Tom Gity
Scott Levitt
Blaine McRae
Michael Newman
Marc Duquette
Sergio Amato
Ryan Miller
Rami Ezra

Players will be on their first break of the day at the end of this level, returning to Level 5, and new blinds of 200/400/400.

The final three players of that tournament ($175 NLH $25,000 GTD) will also entry a free seat, this time into September's opening multi ($360 No Limit Hold'em running from September 6th through September 9th).

Level 1 (Blinds 100/100)
Total Flight 1D Entries: N/A

The halfway point of the Card Player Poker Tour Event #1 ($360 No Limit Hold'em $200,000) has officially been reached, with a total of (314) entries over the first three starting flights.  From that number, there have been (41) players to reach the "Day 1 money," of which (17) bagged chips for Monday's Day 2.  While we are at the midway point of the starting flights, we have yet to surpass the halfway point of the $200,000 guarantee, with the overall prize pool currently sitting at $94,200.  These final three flights are expected to bring out the largest fields, so it's very likely we see the guarantee eclipsed at some point tomorrow afternoon (Flight 1F starts at 2:00pm).

Before we can discuss Flight 1F though, we need to focus on Flight 1D and Flight 1E, the first of which begins in just a few minutes.  The structure for the day mirrors that of yesterday's flight, with players sitting down to starting stacks of 20,000 units, and playing levels that last (30) minutes.  Once registration is closed (after Level 8), players will learn how many will reach the money (12.5%), and how many will bag for Monday (5%).

Live coverage of this afternoon flight (Flight 1B) will bring you updates throughout the day, concluding once the chips are in the bag.

Saturday, August 18th: Saturday At Pompano Park, All About The Opening Event Of The Card Player Poker Tour

ICYMI: Yesterday was the second pair of starting flights for Event #1 of the Card Player Poker Tour ($360 No Limit Hold'em $200,000 GTD).  Flight 1B saw registration close with a total of (98) entries in the field, of which (13) would reach the money, and (5) would bag chips for Monday's Day 2.  The flight would end up playing deep into the afternoon/evening, with the money bubble burst more than nine hours into the day.  James Hall eliminated Brent Speer on the bubble, and it looked as if he'd be the player to bag the chip lead bonus, but that would not be the case.  The player with the shortest stack on the bubble, ended up with the top stack at night's end, as Thomas Puccio was awarded the chip lead bonus ($1,100 No Limit Hold'em Event #8 seat).  Official chip counts from Flight 1B are listed below:

Thomas Puccio - 575,000
Marcin Plewinski - 480,000
James Hall - 467,000
Daniel Pearlman - 260,000
Amin Hosein - 245,000

As the second flight of Event #1 was winding down, players were just getting settled for Flight 1C of the tournament, which began at 6:00pm.  Registration would close with (87) entries, of which (11) players reached the money, and (5) would bag for Day 2.  The pace of play was a slight bit quicker than it's afternoon counterpart, with the money reached around Level 15, and play concluding with 21:00 minutes remaining in Level 17.  Official chip counts from Flight 1C are listed below:

Matthew Brown - 641,000
Erik Nomberg - 594,000
Raminder Singh - 200,000
Michael Tait - 188,000
Steven Grinblat - 132,000

At the midway point of this opening event, the combined totals have seen (314) entries, of which (41) players have gotten paid, and (17) have bagged chips for Day 2.  The currently prize pool sits at $94,200, with another (353) entries needed to reach the posted $200,000 guarantee.

Tournaments: There are two more starting flights for Event #1 on today's schedule, with Flight 1D beginning at 11:00am, followed by Flight 1E at 6:00pm. The event is structured with 20,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (30) minutes on Day 1 (transitioning to 40 minutes on Day 2).  Registration for each starting flight is open through Level 8 (and the break that follows), with play scheduled to conclude when the field reaches the 5% mark.  Day 1 payouts return, which was a wrinkle that we saw during the last major series (Florida State Poker Championship), as 12.5% make the money.  Players that bag chips in any of the opening flights will return on Monday for Day 2 (12:00pm).  Lets not forget about the "chip lead bonus," as the largest stack from each flight will earn entry into CPPT Event #8, which is the $1,100 No Limit Hold'em Main Event ($250,000 GTD).

At 2:00pm, players will have yet another opportunity to satellite into Event #1, with a $90 No Limit Hold'em Satellite, which boasts a (5) seat guarantee.  The satellite is structured with 10,000 unit starting stacks, (20) minute levels, and open registration through Level 8.

Promotions: From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am, with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.

It should also be noted that players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand.  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).
