Tuesday, June 13th: A New Tournament Trend, "Turbo High Hands" Find A Second Home

ICYMI: There is sometimes a "tournament hangover" after a large multi-flight tournament weekend, but things returned to strong form yesterday afternoon, with the $80 No Limit Hold'em ($2,000 GTD) at 11:00am.  There were (37) total entries in the field, creating a prize pool of $1,894 ($370 bounty pool), and offering a $776 posted first place prize.  Five spots were scheduled to earn payouts in the tournament, and after the elimination of Brian Haines (Southwest Ranches, FL) in fifth place, the remaining four agreed to an "almost" even chop.  Arlene Vazquez (Parkland, FL) earned the same $436 as Raul Jimenez Diaz (Homestead, FL), but she is "declared" the winner of the event (for the sake of submitting results).  This particular result helps her career earnings across the $39,000 mark, and is her second ever tournament win at the Isle Poker Room (recorded).

  1. Arlene Vazquez (Parkland, FL) $436
  2. Raul Jimenez Diaz (Homestead, FL) $436
  3. David Light (New York, NY) $435
  4. Kyle Gordon (Ft. Myers, FL) $435
  5. Brian Haines (Southwest Ranches, FL) $152
While the "tournament hangover" is a trend we've seen in the past, there is another "trend" that occurs after events like the "June $50,000 GTD" (especially a tournament with a $75 buy-in).  This past weekend marked the first ever tournament for a good amount of players, which is a great thing for the poker community.  The $60 No Limit Hold'em ($12,000 GTD) has been a popular tournament for months now, but yesterday's installment featured a good amount of new names and faces included in the tournament payouts.  The event ended in an eight-way deal, with tournament regular Daniel Shortley (Lake Worth, FL) earning his first-ever recorded tournament win ($1,962).  Outside of Shortley and David Coughlin (Lighthouse Point, FL), the rest of the final table were names new to the blog.
  1. Daniel Shortley (Lake Worth, FL) $1,962
  2. Mordechai Popiol (Hollywood, FL) $1,378
  3. David Coughlin (Lighthouse Point, FL) $964
  4. Spencer Mart (Boca Raton, FL) $949
  5. Nag Gutierrez (Hamberg, SG) $946
  6. Fedner Oralien (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $ 936
  7. Alexandra Yampolsky (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $820
  8. Reid Bleecher (Boca Raton, FL) $680
Tournaments: Two tournament make up the daily schedule today, with the $100 No Limit Hold'em "Monster Stack" ($3,000 GTD) starting things off at 11:00am.  This has been one of the more popular events with the players, and while the tournament has been added to Wednesday afternoons, Tuesdays have always hosted the largest of the field.  That event is followed at 6:00pm, by the $75 No Limit Hold'em evening event.

Promotions: The Limit Hold'em Early Bird promotion is in it's regularly scheduled spot this morning, but there is one "not so small" addition to the schedule..."Turbo High Hands."  Similar to what is run on Friday's, there will be $250 awarded to qualifying high hands every (15) minutes (from 12:00pm-4:00pm), followed by $500 high hands (under the same 15 minute schedule) from 4:00pm-Midnight).
