Isle Open Event #11 (Day 2): James Calderaro Eliminated On The Bubble, Field Now ITM

2018 Isle Open | Event #11
$1,500 No Limit Hold'em Main Event ($300,000 GTD)
Level 17 (Blinds 3,000/6,000/6,000)
Event #11 Entries: 267
Event #11 Players Remaining: 34

James Calderaro's (Sarasota, FL) elimination moments ago, means that the remaining players in the Event #11 field are all in the money.

The hand-for-hand play was very dramatic, with Nick Palma all-in three times, surviving each time.  Palma twice spiked miracle rivers to steal the pot away and stay alive, along with having one of his all-ins called by two players (with action checking down to the river, and Palma's pocket eights holding against Ax Qx and AxQx).

Ian O'Hara was then all-in against Loni Harwood, with his A♣ K♣ coming from behind against Harwood's A♠ 10♣ (on the 6 6♠ 8 10♠ K runout).

On the eleventh hand, James Calderaro would three-bet shove for 127,000 (over an open of 17,000), which was followed by an over 800,000 four-bet shove from Chad Eveslage.  The original raiser released his hand, and James would be at risk:

Calderaro: A Q♣
Eveslage: K♠ K

Runout: J♣ 7 3♣ 4♣ J♠

Calderaro would become the final player to walk away empty handed, as the remaining (34) players in the field will all earn a piece of the $360,450 prize pool.

Isle Open Event #11 (Day 2): After Christopher Lawson's Elimination, Field Is One Away From Hand-For-Hand

2018 Isle Open | Event #11
$1,500 No Limit Hold'em Main Event ($300,000 GTD)
Level 17 (Blinds 3,000/6,000/6,000)
Event #11 Entries: 267
Event #11 Players Remaining: 36

Christopher Lawson was the most recent elimination from the field, with (36) players now remaining.  After the next player busts out, the field will begin hand-for-hand play, with each table playing one hand simultaneously.  That will last until one player is eliminated, at which point the Event #11 field will be in the money.  Live blogged coverage will concentrate on hand-for-hand, next updating once the money bubble has burst.

Isle Open Event #11 (Day 2): Eliminations From The First Level Back, Hand-For-Hand Looms

2018 Isle Open | Event #11

Level 17 (Blinds 3,000/6,000/6,000)
Event #11 Entries: 267
Event #11 Players Remaining: 38

Players have now completed one full level since dinner, with the blinds in Level 17 going up to 3,000/6,000 (and a 6,000 big blind ante).  Outside of Joshua Kay's elimination, the following players were knocked out during Level 16:

Santana Noronha
Dominique Mosley
John Dolan
Joseph Pacheco
TK Miles
Brett Bader

Isle Open Event #11 (Day 2): Figueroa Flushes Away Joshua Kay, Now Seven Away From The Money

2018 Isle Open | Event #11

Level 16 (Blinds 2,500/5,000/5,000)
Event #11 Entries: 267
Event #11 Players Remaining: 41

Down to less than 100,000 about an hour before dinner, Victor Figueroa (Miami, FL) is now close to 500,000, after eliminating Joshua Kay short of the money.

Just a few hands back from break, Victor Figueroa opened with a raise to 11,000, with action folding around to Joshua Kay (from the small blind).  Kay three-bet to 45,000, with Victor making the call, as the two saw a flop of K♠ Q♠ 9.  Kay led for 40,500, and after about a minute in the tank, Victor announced he was all-in (enough to cover Kay).  Joshua peered back at his cards, and made the call:

Kay: QQ (middle set)
Figueroa: 8♠ 9♠ (pair and flush draw)

Turn: 6
River: 2♠

Victor Figueroa - 470,000
Joshua Kay - Eliminated

Isle Open Event #11 (Day 2): New Names Climbing The Leaderboard, Including "Heinz the Hammer"

2018 Isle Open | Event #11
$1,500 No Limit Hold'em Main Event ($300,000 GTD)
Level 14 (Blinds 1,500/3,000/3,000)
Event #11 Entries: 267
Event #11 Players Remaining: 63

Heinz Schlüter (Germany) was given the nickname "Heinz The Hammer" by his table mates, after running hot over the course of the last two levels.

The landscape of the leaderboard has been very fluid, with a handful of new names finding their way to the top twenty.  After winning a 300,000+ pot just moments ago, Heinz Schluter (Germany) assumed the top spot, now sitting with 580,000.  Schluter has already seen some success this series, taking second place money in a heads-up chop of Event #10 ($2,500 No Limit Hold'em 8-Max).  Heinz has recorded five results in the states since September, including a 6th place finish in the $1,100 No Limit Hold'em MSPT Michigan Main Event (Battle Creek), which saw a return of over $43,000.

Heinz Schlüter - 580,000 (193bb)
Chino Rheem - 445,000 (148bb)
Joshua Kay - 350,000 (116bb)
Matt Smith - 320,000 (106bb)
Fred White - 300,000 (100bb)
Skip McDonough - 300,000 (100bb)

Isle Open Event #11 (Day 2): Mark Dube Doubles Through Tom Gity

2018 Isle Open | Event #11
$1,500 No Limit Hold'em Main Event ($300,000 GTD)
Level 14 (Blinds 1,500/3,000/3,000)
Event #11 Entries: 267
Event #11 Players Remaining: 69

Mark Dube (Newburyport, CT) has some nice results since relocating to Florida last year, but is still looking for his breakout score at the Isle Poker Room.

At Table 1, Chino Rheem opened the action from under-the-gun, with a raise to 6,500.  Mark Dube flatted next to act, with action folding to Tom Gity.  Gity three-bet to 32,500, clearing out the players behind, as well as Rheem.  Dube counted out his stack, took a look over at Tom's stack, and went all-in for 87,500.  The shove was for close to 80% of Tom's stack, but he took little time before making the call:

Dube: A A
Gity: 7 7♠

Runout: Q5♠ Q♠ Q♣ 10

Tom was left tapping the table when the cards were turned over, showing a little sign of respect for the line Mark took with the pocket aces.  Gity was drawing dead on the turn, and would be left with just over ten big blinds.

Mark Dube - 190,000 (63bb)
Tom Gity - 45,000 (15bb)

Isle Open Event #11 (Day 2): Short Stacks Collide, Sean Shah Eliminated By Dylan Drazen

2018 Isle Open | Event #11
$1,500 No Limit Hold'em Main Event ($300,000 GTD)
Level 13 (Blinds 1,500/2,500/2,500)
Event #11 Entries: 267
Event #11 Players Remaining: 79

Dylan Drazen (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) just doesn't have the confidence in this poker room that he does elsewhere, but after his most recent hand, those feelings may be on their way to changing.

Dylan Drazen (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) feels a little bit "cursed" here at the Isle Poker Room, which is why he was shocked that he even bagged chips for Day 2 (51,300).  Just a few moments ago, Drazen shoved from the cutoff (30,000), with players folding to Sean Shah (who was in the big blind).  Shah had entered the field shortly before the last break, and was sitting with less than Drazen's all-in amount.  After thinking things through, Shah made the call, and would be at risk:

Drazen: K♠ Q
Shah: A 10♣

Runout: 10 9 4♠ Q♣ K♣

Drazen may be on the path towards believing his luck is turning around here, as he comes from behind to score the win.  He now has half of the current chip average, but is sitting on over (20) bigs.

Dylan Drazen - 65,000 (26bb)
Sean Shah - Eliminated

Isle Open Event #11 (Day 2): Gimbel's Unlikely Climb Continues, As He Knocks Out Harry O'Brien

2018 Isle Open | Event #11
$1,500 No Limit Hold'em Main Event ($300,000 GTD)
Level 12 (Blinds 1,000/2,000/2,000)

Event #11 Players Remaining: 106

The stack of Harrison Gimbel (Jupiter, FL), after starting Day 2 with just 5,600 (less than six big blinds).

Table 11 was playing it's last hand before breaking, with Harry O'Brien open shoving for just over 40,000.  Harrison Gimbel was next to act, and after assessing the stack sizes around him, announced a call.  The player behind all folded, and the cards found their backs:

O'Brien: J J♣
Gimbel: K K♠

Runout: Q 10♠ 6 J♠ A♣

The dramatic runout just about summed up Gimbel's day so far (watching O'Brien steal the lead with a turned set, only to make a straight on the river), and left the others at the table happy to find a new seat...away from Harrison.

Harrison Gimbel - 170,000 (85bb)
Harry O'Brien - Eliminated (but eligible to re-enter)
