Saturday, January 8th: Anthony Casas Another Outright Tournament Winner, "Kickstarter" Promotion Scheduled To Make A Player $1,000 Richer!

ICYMI: While it's rare for there to be an overlay at the Isle Casino Pompano Park Poker Room, there are occasions when it happens (last night being one of them).  The scheduled $160 No Limit Hold'em ($5,000 GTD) attracted a total of (38) players, which was just short of the number needed to meet the posted number.  The $5,000 prize pool was scheduled to be spread across the top five spots, with action playing down to an outright winner, for the second night in a row.  Anthony Casas (Miami, FL) took home first place money ($2,050), after besting Edward Rappa during heads-up play.  Official results from the tournament are listed below, along with an updated Player of the Month leaderboard:

  1. Anthony Casas (Miami, FL) $2,050
  2. Edward Rappa (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $1,250
  3. Kevin Blackwood (Miramar, FL) $750
  4. Eric Siegel (Boca Raton, FL) $550
  5. Robert Transue (North Lauderdale, FL) $400

Tournaments: Saturday's 6:00pm tournament is one of the most popular on the schedule, as it offers an incredibly affordable buy-in, that always sees some great returns.  The $130 No Limit Hold'em ($5,000 GTD) event has consistently crushing the posted guarantee, as the prize pool reaches five-figures on a weekly basis.

The tournament is structured with starting stacks of 12,000 chips, and levels that last (20) minutes throughout the event. Registration is open through Level 8, allowing for almost three hours of play, prior to the window closing for the night.

Promotions: From the moment the doors to the poker room open (9:00am), until 11:00pm, the high hands will be awarded every (30) minutes (with those qualifying high hands earning $300).  In addition to that "standard" high hand, Saturday's in January host the "Kickstart" promotion.  From 9:00am-12:00pm, the best qualifying high hand (over the course of the three-hour window) will receive an additional $1,000.

For example, if someone makes a straight flush during the 9:00am-12:00pm window (and it holds up as the best hand during the specified thirty minute period), it becomes eligible for the "Kickstarter."  If that straight flush is not beat before 12:00pm, said player will earn an additional $1,000 (on top of the $300 they already received for the "standard" promotion high hand).  It sounds like a lot of details, but they gist of it is...make a really good high hand, and hope that it stays the best high hand until 12:00pm...win an additional $1,000.
