Wednesday, August 8th: This Evening Begins The Month's Second Multi..."The Night Owl" ($175 NLH $50,000 GTD)

ICYMI: Tuesday's tournament schedule began with a satellite into Event #1 of the upcoming Card Player Poker Tour ($360 No Limit Hold'em $200,000 GTD).  The $90 No Limit Hold'em satellite attracted a total of (15) entries, and ended up awarded the (5) guaranteed seats that were posted.  Listed below, are the five players to win seats into the series' opening event:
  1. Glen Glon (CPPT Event #1 Seat)
  2. Morris Heider (CPPT Event #1 Seat)
  3. Garth Nevers (CPPT Event #1 Seat)
  4. Donald Gordon (CPPT Event #1 Seat)
  5. Michael Boykin (CPPT Event #1 Seat)
Yesterday's evening event was a $175 No Limit Hold'em ($25,000 GTD), which is a tournament that players circle on their calendar each month.  After ten levels of open registration, the field would close with (189) entries, and a prize pool of $25,893.   A total of (24) players were schedule to get paid in the event, with a min-cash worth $240, and first place listed at $6,562.  We saw notable names like Danielle Bastarache (24th place), Sandy Sanchez (18th place), Kevin Chan (17th place), and Eric Kolodny (13th place), all record results from the event.  The final table would be reached after midnight, and following the elimination of Arechavaleta Fernandez (10th place) and Seymour Weiner (9th place), the remaining players were left with a decision...agree to a chop, or bag chips for the following evening.  There was no majority agreement on a deal, so the players bagged up their stacks, and will be returning this evening to finish out the tournament.  Official chip counts of the returning players are posted below (re-start is at 7:00pm):

David Moreno - 930,000
John Magnetta - 535,000
Andre Bryan - 495,000
Jane Embres - 460,000
Bruce Warren - 450,000
Waldermar Wasilekowski - 325,000
Jose Cledonte - 315,000
Rich Glibman - 125,000

Tournaments: The day's schedule opens up at 11:00am, with another $90 No Limit Hold'em Satellite Into Event #1 of the Card Player Poker Tour.  The $360 No Limit Hold'em ($200,000 GTD) tournament runs from August 16th-August 20th, and is sure to be an event that crushes the guarantee.  Today's satellite is structured with 10,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (20) minutes.  Registration is open through Level 8 (and the break that follows), with the event guaranteeing a total of (5) seats.

The evening time slot sees the first of five starting flights for the "Night Owl," a $175 No Limit Hold'em multi, that boasts a $50,000 guaranteed prize pool.  Each of the flights has a 6:00pm starting time (hence the "Night Owl" moniker), and are structured with 16,000 unit starting stacks, along with (20) minute levels.  Registration is open through the first eight levels, with play scheduled to end after Level 18 (or when the 10% mark is reached).  Players that successfully bag chips will be returning on Monday (August 13th) for Day 2 (6:00pm).

Promotions: From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am (midnight), with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible (Isle Open events not eligible for high hand) each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.  From 12:00am-9:00am, players are eligible for $100 high hands every hour.

It should also be noted that players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand.  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).
