Monday, December 11th: Event #10 Ends In An ICM Chop, Isle Classic Calendar Continues On

ICYMI: At 12:00pm yesterday afternoon, (98) players returned for Day 2 of Event #10 ($360 No Limit Hold'em $200,000 GTD), ready to battle it out for the $39,860 up top.  The first two hours of the day saw a lot of movement on the leaderboard, as names like Alvin Tight, Rob Jonsson, and Jose Parra...were replaced by Chad Vetstein, Ory Hen, William Underdown, and Gerald Timber.  Almost half of the field had been eliminated by the time play reached Level 19, with the hand-for-hand process on the money bubble lasting only one hand.  Nagui Yassa's elimination in 60th place would mean that everyone remaining was in the money, and focus could shift on reaching the final table. Players to cash short of said final table included Evan Teitelbaum (55th Place | $730), Day 2 chip leader Robert Jonsson (51st place | $860), Ido Ashkenazi (38th place | $1,015), Colby Covington (32nd place | $1,175), Andre Rakusa (24th place | $1,545), and Ory Hen (12th place | $3,275).

The final table was reached just before 8:00pm, with the trend of the next few hours becoming "dealmaking."  Things began shifting at the final table, as Lester Tranino (Miami, FL) came into the proceedings with a healthy stack, but ran top set into a flopped flush of Mitchell Smith.  Lester's exit in 10th place ($3,275) was followed by Haim Tooregman's elimination, as he watched his A K bested by the A Q of Jason Holzberg (9th place | $3,985).  The clock was paused after Tooregman left the table, and players were read the ICM numbers.  One player said "play on," and the action would continue, with Santana Noronha (8th place) and Stewart Newman (7th place) eliminated in succession.  Once again, the numbers would be discussed for a deal, and once again...the players decided to "play on."  William Underdown was the shortest stacked player while things were six-handed, and after his elimination, the numbers would be run one last time.  Everyone then agreed to the ICM amounts they heard, and Event #10 would conclude in a five-way deal.  Chris Lawson (Caddo Mills, TX), who was in town after spending the month as a temporary dealer during the Rock N' Roll Poker Open, would be the event's declared winner.  Listed below are the details of the deal:

  1. Chris Lawson (Caddo Mills, TX) $26,293
  2. Jason Holzberg (Plainview, NY) $25,114
  3. Chad Vetstein (Boston, MA) $21,526
  4. Mitchell Smith (Winnsboro, SC) $18,962
  5. Gerald Limber (Rockville, MD) $15,478
Event #11, a $100 No limit Hold'em Turbo Bounty ($5,000 GTD) was also on Sunday's schedule, with the results to be posted here in the early afternoon.

Tournaments: The 2017 Isle Classic continues this afternoon with Event #12 ($60 No Limit Hold'em | $7,000 GTD), which begins at 11:00am.  The tournament is structured with 14,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that are (20) minutes over the course of the event.  Registration is open until Level 8, with an optional add-on available for players at that time ($20 for 10,000 units, with 100% of the add-on money going towards the prize pool).

Event #13 follows, with the $150 No Limit Hold'em tournament boasting a $25,000 GTD.  The tournament is structured with starting stacks of 16,000 units, and levels that last (20) minutes over the course of the event.  These Monday night events are some of the most popular tournaments during the series (outside of the headlining events), with an expected prize pool over $30,000.

Promotions: From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am (midnight), with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible (Isle Open events not eligible for high hand) each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.  From 12:00am-9:00am, players are eligible for $100 high hands every hour.

It should also be noted that started back on November 1st, players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand!!!  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).
