Tuesday, February 21st: Two More "Battle" Winners, Two More Battles On The Schedule

After four days dedicated to Event 1 of the Battles At The Beach, yesterday was the second day with two events on the schedule.  Event 3 ($130 No Limit Hold'em Deep Stack $20,000 GTD) drew a total of (193) entries, and had an official prize pool of $20,000.  Less than (24) hours after Event 1 ended in a four-way deal, we would see another event do just the same.  Bruce McPhillips (Port St. Lucie, FL) would be the declared winner, walking away with the trophy and $4,576.  Also part of the deal were Justin Levy (Boynton Beach, FL), David Brainard (Deerfield Beach, FL), and Nader Bahhur (Boca Raton, FL).

Event 4 ($60 No Limit Hold'em Deep Stack $12,000 GTD), which got underway at 6:00pm, attracted a massive field of (377) total entries.  The $18,794 prize pool eclipsed the guarantee by almost $7,000, and just proves once again, that players really like the occasional "lower" buy-in events.  One of the pluses to the buy-in amount, is the value a chop brings to the players that reach that point in the tournament.  Last night's event ended in a final table deal, with everyone involved receiving at least $837 (10th place money).  First place money, which was awarded to John Rembert (Hallandale Beach, FL), was just over $2,450.  Some other notables involved in the deal were Howard Foster (3rd place), Carl Cajuste (6th place), and Bryce McVay (9th place).  All of the official results can be found  on the blog, listed under the "Battles At The Beach Results" links.

There are two more events on today's schedule, including the first non-no limit event of the series (Event 5 $250 Omaha Hi/Lo 8B $10,000 GTD), and the "Battle's" version of the "Tuesday $10K."
