2017 Florida State Poker Championships
Event 1 - $175 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 32 (Blinds 100,000/200,000/30,000)
Total Event 1 Entries: 1,594
Players Remaining: 13/1,594

After five minutes of discussions, the remaining Event 1 players (13 remained) decided to chop the remaining prize pool evenly.  While there were some stacks that were slightly bigger than the rest, nobody held more than (20) big blinds.  Each players earns $9,923, with the following players no waiting for paperwork and payouts:

  1. Seamus Hoban (Palm Beach Gardens, FL)
  2. Kevin Scarola (West Palm Beach, FL)

FSPC Event 1 (Day 2): Rojas Eliminated By Brent Granda

2017 Florida State Poker Championships
Event 1 - $175 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 32 (Blinds 100,000/200,000/30,000)
Total Event 1 Entries: 1,594
Players Remaining: 14/1,594

Armando Rojas was another to succumb to the climbing blinds, and was all-in with 4 5 on a board of 8 53♣, against Brent Granda's K 8♣.  The turn brought the A, and the river the 9, sending Rojas to the payout podium to collect his $2,043 (13th place).  The discussions of a chop are once again being brought up from different players in the field, and they are lobbying as hard as they can.

FSPC Event 1 (Day 2): Jackie Cohen Sends Two To The Rail

2017 Florida State Poker Championships
Event 1 - $175 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 32 (Blinds 100,000/200,000/30,000)
Total Event 1 Entries: 1,594
Players Remaining: 14/1,594

Sergio Amato was super short, and all-in pre-flop, with calls from two players (Guillermo Irving and Jackie Cohen).  The flop came out 4 5♠ 6, and after Irving checked, Jackie Cohen bet enough to put Guillermo all-in (and Irving called).  The hands were tabled, and it would be Irving holding a slight lead with 3♠ 3♣ against Amato's A♠ 9 and Cohen's K♠ 8.  The turn brought the K, and Cohen grabbed a lead he would never relinquish.  Amato was the 16th place finisher in the hand ($1,631), while Irving earned a pay jump to $2,043 (15th place).

FSPC Event 1 (Day 2): Koppel Eliminates Two In A Row, Level Going Up

2017 Florida State Poker Championships
Event 1 - $175 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 32 (Blinds 100,000/200,000/30,000)
Total Event 1 Entries: 1,594
Players Remaining: 16/1,594

The blinds continue to grow as Level 32 starts, with players posting 100,000/200,000/30,000, and most players sitting with under (10) bigs.  Adam Koppel did most of the work as Level 31 was ending, eliminating Eliyahu Henn, who was super short and a victim of the climbing blinds.  He watched as two players checked down a runout of Ax 10x 4x Qx Jx, with Keppel riveting a straight (Henn only had nine-high, and would of busted anyway).  Henn earned $1,631 for his 18th place finish.

Just a few hands later, Marc Bonacquisti shoved for 440,000 in late position, and watched as Koppel flatted out of the big.  Koppel held A K against Marc's A♠ 6♠, and secured the win on a runout of J K♣ 9♣ A♣ 10, chipping up to 2,700,000.  Marc also earned $1,631 for his 17th place finish.

FSPC Event 1 (Day 2): Play Continues, So Do The Talks Of Chop

Level 31 (Blinds 80,000/160,000/25,000)
Total Event 1 Entries: 1,594
Players Remaining: 18/1,594

The clock is currently paused while players are trying to iron out the numbers behind an eighteen-way chop.  Things seemed to be as good as done, but a few "twelfth-hour" detractors caused things to dissolve, and the cards are now back in the air.

FSPC Event 1 (Day 2): 19th-21st Places ($1,301)

2017 Florida State Poker Championships

Level 31 (Blinds 80,000/160,000/25,000)
Total Event 1 Entries: 1,594
Players Remaining: 20/1,594

There have been some really special runout over the last (10) minutes, with Matt Goldman involved in two of the craziest.  Goldman got it in pre with 10♠ 9♠ against Paulius Bikus's K K, only to get the Q J 3♣ J♠ 8 runout.  That would take Goldman from 1,300,000 to 2,750,000, but he'd lose half of his stack back moments later, after his A♠ A♣ lost to Elias Nassif's KJ (on the Q 10 6♣ 9♠ 8).

Elias Nassif - 2,600,000
Matt Goldman - 1,150,000

FSPC Event 1 (Day 2): Bunes The Largest Ship In Shallow Water

Players Remaining: 21/1,594

Ryan Bunes (Plantation, FL)

With the blinds going up moments ago, there aren't many players over the (10) big blind mark, causing a lot of all-in spots.  Even the largest stack in the field only has (20) big blinds.  Ryan Bunes (Plantation, FL) is the big stack at the moment with 2,900,000, but has a trio of players right behind him:

Seamus Hoban - 2,800,000
Paulius Bikus - 2,300,000

Level 29 (Blinds 50,000/100,000/15,000)
Total Event 1 Entries: 1,594
Players Remaining: 30/1,594

Angelo Miele gracefully ships over his stack, moments after losing in brutal fashion

After action folded around to Skip McDonough in the cutoff, he would shove for just over 850,000.  Angelo Miele called for less on the button, and watched at the two blinds released their hands.  The cards were then tabled, with Miele holding  K Q♠ against Skip's 3♠ 3♣.  The 9♠ 10 J flop was absolute gin for Miele, who looked to be earning a stress free double.  That was until the 3 came on the turn, causing Skip to stand from his seat and say, "Pair that board...come on!!!"  Pair that board is exactly what the dealer did, dropping a nine on the river, and sending Miele home with just three tables remaining.  McDonough climbs to the top of the leaderboard with that pot, and now sits with 1,800,000.

Skip Mcdonough - 1,800,000

FSPC Event 1 (Day 2): Nassif Isn't Limping To The Finish Line

Total Event 1 Entries: 1,594
Players Remaining: 33/1,594

Elias Nassif (Plantation, FL)

Between bagging chips on Wednesday, and returning to play this afternoon, Elias Nassif (Plantation, FL) spent some time in the hospital.  Nassif severely sprained his ankle playing soccer, but was able to make it back today, with the addition of crutches.  Elias may have a little hop to his step after the last hand though, as he held A♠ A♣ on a K♣ 7♣ 4♣ flop, and had just watched Sean Glennon shove into him (having Elias covered).  Nassif quickly made the call, and would be in a pretty solid spot against Glennon's K♠ J♣.  The turn and river missed Glennon, and Elias would earn a double-up to over 1,500,000, while Glennon was left with less than five big blinds.

Elias Nassif - 1,550,000

Shaun Glennon (Miami, FL)

"It's crazy when it comes down to flips for such a big spot," a player at Table 10 said, regarding a hand between Shaun Glennon and Andre Chaviano.  The two got it all-in pre-flop for a pot worth over 1,300,000, with Glennon holding 10♠ 10♣ against Chaviano's K♠ Q.  The board would run out 6 7♠ 9 3♣ 8♣, with Glennon making a straght on the river, although his pair of tens was good enough for the win as well.  It was a massive pot for this point in the tournament, and one that Chaviano will look back, having been left with under 300,000.

There continues to be new names climbing up the leaderboard, including those posted below:

Vincenzo Lombardi (Boca Raton, FL)

In one of the last hands played in Level 23 (12,000/24,000), Ansel Allsop opened from early position to 65,000.  Action folded around to Vincenzo Lombardi in the big blind, and he would three-bet to 265,000.  We approached the table just as Allsop made the call, and the two were going to see a flop with already 450,000 in the pot.  A flop of A K 10♣ was spread across the middle of the table, and Lombardi quickly checked the action to Allsop.  Ansel was good with a check, and the 7 followed on the turn, with Lombardi deciding to shove (basically putting Allsop to a decision for a majority of his chips).  "You have jacks," Allsop asked Lombardi, but the question would garner no reply.  Eventually Allsop would push his cards towards the muck, and Lombardi would cross the 1,000,000 chip mark.

Vincenzo Lombardi - 1,100,000

Doran Malinasky (Hollywood, FL)

Doran Malinasky (Hollywood, FL) is a fixture in highest limit cash games that the Isle Poker Room has to offer, and is making his first appearance in a tournament in years.  Doran had one foot out the door moments ago, as he was all-in and at risk against Steve Zukowski.  Things started off in Doran's favor, as he held A A against Zukowski's 10 10.  That would change the moment the dealer fanned out a flop of 10 3 Q, with Doran's rail looking disgusted.  The turn brought the Q, and a few more outs for Malinasky, followed by the A on the river.  Zukwoski had to stand to take a second look at what unfolded, and watched as the dealer pushed Doran the 325,000 pot.

Doran Malinasky - 325,000 (27 big blinds)
