Tuesday, January 16th: Recapping The Big Holiday Numbers, With A Full Final Table Chop

ICYMI: With the Martin Luther King holiday yesterday, the afternoon tournament boasted a large guarantee ($20,000).  The $150 buy-in tournament ended up crushing the guarantee, as a total of (205) entries made up the field.  The official prize pool closed at $23,575, with (26) players scheduled to reach the money.  There were numerous notable players to reach the money, but fall short of the final table, including Adel Jo, Stanton Drazen, Joseph Mancuso, Garrick Young, and Michael Scheinberg.  Once the final table was reached, the remaining players agreed to a final table chop, with Bruce McPhillips the event's declared winner ($2,837).  The details of the deal are listed below:

  1. Bruce McPhillips (Port St. Lucie, FL) $2,837
  2. Jason Blank (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $2,242
  3. Donald Abdelhay (Canada) $2,175
  4. Jay Stafford (Deerfield Beach, FL) $2,009
  5. Robert Feinstein (Monroe Township, NJ) $1,840
  6. Stefan Korolczuk (Tamarac, FL) $1,826

  9. Carlos Vazquez (Weston, FL) $1,291
  10. Hashim Burney (Miami Beach, FL) $1,011
Last night's evening tournament was an $80 No Limit Hold'em ($2,500 GTD), and always saw a very nice showing.  There were a total of (61) entries in the field, and after the optional add-ons were included (at the end of registration), the official number would close at $3,477.  Eight players were scheduled to reach the money, with action playing down three-handed.  At that point, the trio agreed to a deal, with Jairo Velasquez (Sunrise, FL) the declared winner.  The details of the chop, along with full results, are listed below:
  1. Jairo Velazquez (Sunrise, FL) $901
  2. Marquis Grant (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $774
  3. Brahm Alexis (Pompano Beach, FL) $774
  4. Anthony Zambrowski (Chandler, AZ) $313
  5. James Powers (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $243
  6. Daniel Shortley (Lake Worth, FL) $191
  7. Ronald Brown (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $156
  8. Richard Jones (Canada) $125
Tournaments: Today's tournament action begins at 11:00am, with a $100 No Limit Hold'em event, that carries a $2,500 guaranteed prize pool.  The tournament is structured with 12,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (20) minutes.

That event is followed (at 6:00pm), by the same tournament that was in last night's evening time slot...the $80 No Limit Hold'em ($2,500 GTD).  Players in the event sit down to starting stacks of 12,000 units, and play levels that last (20) minutes.  There is an optional add-on at the end of registration (Level 8), with $20 seeing a return of 10,000 units (100% of the add-on money goes towards the official prize pool).

Promotions: From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am (midnight), with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible (Isle Open events not eligible for high hand) each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.  From 12:00am-9:00am, players are eligible for $100 high hands every hour.

It should also be noted that started back on November 1st, players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand!!!  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).
