2017 Isle Open | Event #7

Level 31 (Blinds 60,000/120,000/20,000)
Total Entries: 941
Players Remaining: 9

Frank Lerczak (Buffalo, NY) wasn't able to find much traction once the final table was reached, and ended up starting Level 31 with less than five big blinds.

Frank Lerczak (Buffalo, NY) came to the final table with over twenty big blinds, but found himself doing a lot of folding since the redraw.  When Level 31 started, his stack was down to 580,000 (less than five bigs), and he'd shove from early position.  Reynel Hernandez ended up making the call, and the two would be flipping, with Lerczak holding A♠ J♠ against Reynel's 2 2♠.  The pocket deuces ended up holding through the runout, and Lerczak became the second player eliminated from the final table, earning $5,195 for his ninth place finish.

Level 30 (Blinds 50,000/100,000/10,000)
Total Entries: 941
Players Remaining: 9

There was a brief discussion of a chop as players were returning from break, but after the ICM numbers were read aloud to the table, things were quickly shut down right there.  The level continued with few "notable" hands, outside of Ray Nalbandian doubling through Vlad Mezheritsky.  Vlad held a strong lead with 9♠ 9♣ against Nalbandian's 2 2, but Ray would make a four-flush on the river, and Mezheritsky would be let super short.

After Reynel Hernandez opened from early position to 225,000, Vlad Mezheritsky three-bet shoved for 695,000.  Action folded back around to Hernandez, who made the call, with his 9♠ 7♠ behind the A♣ Q♣ of Mezheritsky.  The Q♠ 4 2 flop all but ended hopes for Reynel, who would be drawing dead on the turn, and shipped over close to 700,000 to the short stack.

Reynel Hernandez - 4,400,000 (44bb)
Vlad Mezheritsky - 1,400,000 (14bb)

Isle Open Event 7 (Day 2): Martin Culotta Eliminated In 10th Place ($4,315)

2017 Isle Open | Event #7
$360 No Limit Hold'em | $200,000 GTD
Level 29 (Blinds 40,000/80,000/10,000)
Total Entries: 941
Players Remaining: 9

Martin Culotta (Miami, FL) led from the moment the cards were in the air today, and continued to stay atop the leaderboard for a majority of the afternoon (into evening).  A tough turn card saw him get eliminated at the hands of Reynel Hernandez.

Martin Culotta opened hijack to 180,000, with Reynel Hernandez flatting out of the big.  Hernandez checked called 225,000 from Culotta after the A♠ K 7♠ flop, with the dealer placing down the Q♣ on the turn.  Hernandez checked once again, but after Culotta bet 350,000, Reynel check-shoved (having Martin covered).  There was little time before the announcement of the all-in, and the call from Culotta, as Martin held K♠ K♣ (flopped a set of kings).

Unfortunately for Martin, Hernandez turned broadway with J♣ 10♠, with Culotta needing the board to pair in order to stay alive.  The river did not bring any help to the set of kings, and Martin would be the first player eliminated from the final table.  That pot would make Reynel Hernandez the overwhelming chip leader, holding over 5,000,000 of the 18,820,000 chips in play.

Reynel Hernandez - 5,000,000
Martin Culotta - Eliminated (10th Place | $4,315)

Level 28 (Blinds 30,000/60,000/5,000)

Just four hands after losing the massive flip to Martin Culotta, Craig Stern (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) would once again be flipping, this time for his tournament life.  He would get in all-in pre against Reynel Hernandez, this time holding the pair (10♠ 10♣), against the A K♠ of Hernandez.  It looked as if Stern was going to be on the good end of the flip this time, but ended up seeing a king hit the river, sending him to the rail in fifteenth place.  For his efforts, Craig would earn $3,435, which happens to be the sixth largest cash of his career (with now a total of twenty results).

Reynel Hernandez - 2,800,000
Craig Stern - Eliminated (15th Place | $3,435)

Isle Open Event 7 (Day 2): And Now The Action Picks Up, Two Players Double

2017 Isle Open | Event #7
$360 No Limit Hold'em | $200,000 GTD
Level 28 (Blinds 30,000/60,000/5,000)
Total Entries: 941
Players Remaining: 15

Just after mentioning that the lack of significant hands, we see two players double in a span of three minutes.  At Table 1, after Erik Nomberg opened to 125,000 and Craig Stern called, Martin Culotta three-bet shoved for 1,210,000.  Nomberg ended up folding after some time in the tank, with Stern also taking a few moments, eventually making the call.  It would be the J J♣ of Culotta up against the A K♠ of Stern, with the board running out Q 3 6♣ 2♠ 6♦.  Culotta picked up the huge pot, worth close to 2,600,000, while Stern dropped down to 1,000,000.

Just seconds later (at Table 1), Skip McDonough would shove over an open from Ory Hen.  Hen made the call after some thought, and unhappy to hear Skip say that he had pocket tens.  Ory was a big underdog, holding 8♠ 8♣ against the 10 10♠ of McDonough, and would get no help from the runout.  Skip chipped up to 1,400,000 with the pot, while Ory dropped down to 800,000.

Martin Culotta - 2,600,000
Skip McDonough - 1,400,000
Craig Stern - 1,000,000
Ory Hen - 800,000

Ory Hen's stack just got a little more manageable, as he now sits with over thirty big blinds.

In what seems like the first significant action in hours, we see Ory Hen double through Peter Fellows, leaving the latter with under fifteen bigs.  Hen would open for 125,000, with action folding around to Peter Fellows, who three-bet to 275,000.  When action got back to Ory, he four-bet shoved for 735,000, with Peter making the call.

The two players would be flipping, with Ory holding A Q against the 10♣ 10 of Fellows.  Hen grabbed the lead right on the flop (Q♠ 2 3♣), and faded the turn and river to double up.  The two basically swapped spots on the leaderboard, with Ory doubling to 1,500,000, and Fellows dropping down to 790,000.

Ory Hen - 1,500,000
Peter Fellows - 790,000

There was a "late addition" to the 2017 Isle Open schedule, inserted into the calendar after the collateral for the series was released.  Posted above is the structure sheet for the $510 "Rake Free" NLH Satellite Into Event #14 ($2,500 Single-Day Series), which guarantees five seats into the event.  This satellite has no entry fee (only a staffing fee), and will get players into one of the premier events of the series, for a quarter of the price.  The satellite happens to run on an afternoon where there is a non-no limit hold'em event ($150 Omaha 8B Hi/Lo), so all those looking for a no limit event with super value, can circle that date.

The satellite begins at 12:00pm on Tuesday, October 17th...and offers players the opportunity to grab a five-figure score in just over (12) hours.  The $2,500 NLH Single-Day Series saw it's first installment attract (75) entries, and a prize pool over $170,000...and that was without a guarantee on the tournament.  With $100,000 guarantee...and having the event during a major series...it could bring numbers that exceed anyones expectation.

A copy of the tournament structure will be available by the brush stand, along with posted on the poker room's Twitter account (@PokerIslePP).

"A nice little comeback there," one of Richard Kirsch's (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) table mates said to him, after he grinded his way from a four big blind stack...to a forty big blind stack.

Richard Kirsch (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) had been grinding a sub ten big blind stack for close to an hour, but would manage to 100,000 (ten bigs) after winning an all-in with 8 5 against A♦ K♠.  About ten minutes later, Russell Williams would open for 31,000, with Georges Boyadjian making the call.  Kirsch was next to act, and he would cut out a three-bet to 100,000, leaving himself only 40,000 behind.

Russell Williams would take a good two minutes with his decision, eventually announcing that he was all-in (for 135,000).  Boyadjian released his hand, followed by Kirsch making an immediate call, quickly tabling A♠ A.  Richard was up agains the K♣ Q♣ of Williams, and would have him drawing dead on the turn, with the board running out A♣ 3 6 6♣.  Kirsch is now over 300,000, and is peaking for the day.
