Total Flight 1B Entries: 124

The following players have been eliminated from Flight 1B of Event #4 ($360 No Limit Hold'em $200,000 GTD), and have cashed for $450:

FSPC Event #4 (Flight 1B): Jose Silva Eliminated On The Money Bubble, Now Playing Down To (7)

2018 Florida State Poker Championship
Event #4 | $360 No Limit Hold'em | $200,000 GTD
Level 15 (Blinds 2,000/4,000/4,000)
Total Flight 1B Entries: 124
Flight 1B Players Remaining: 16

Francis Margaglione (Davie, FL) has been trending in the right direction, and now leads the field after the elimination of Jose Silva.

Jose Silva was the shortest of the remaining stacks, sitting with just over five big blinds.  He wasn't able to play his big blind, even after posting close to thirty percent of his stack (between the big blind and ante).  When he was in the small, Fred White would limp, with action folding around to Silva, who would go all-in for 21,000.  Francis Margaglione called out of the big blind, as did White, and they then proceeded to check down the K♠ 6♠ 2♣ 10♣ 3♠ runout.

"Ace-high," Silva announced, as he tabled his hand (A♠ Q).  Margaglione would then roll over 7 6, having flopped a pair, which would end up good enough to win the pot.  Silva exited the table as the flight's "bubble boy," with the rest of the field guaranteed to either cash...or bag (even though bagging is technically cashing as well).

Francis Margaglione - 380,000 (95bb)

FSPC Event #4 (Flight 1B): The Elimination Of Carey Pickus Leaves Flight 1B Field On The Money Bubble

2018 Florida State Poker Championship
Event #4 | $360 No Limit Hold'em | $200,000 GTD
Level 15 (Blinds 2,000/4,000/4,000)
Total Flight 1B Entries: 124
Flight 1B Players Remaining: 17

Jerry Gonzalez just eliminated Carey Pickus, which would leave the Flight 1B field on the money bubble.

Carey Pickus was grinding a super short stack for the past hour or so, and even though she tripled up just a few hands ago, she'd find herself all-in once again.  She was all-in pre-flop against Jerry Gonzalez, and hoping to somehow stay alive through the money:

Pickus: A Q♠
Gonzalez: 9♣ 9

Runout: 10♠ 8♣ 5♣ 7♣ 9

The board would bring no help to Pickus, who would exit the table just two spots short of the money.  The clock is now paused, and hand-for-hand play has started, with thing returning to normal after the next elimination.

FSPC Event #4 (Flight 1B): Joel Deutsch Is Looking To Double Bag, Get A Little Extra Cash

2018 Florida State Poker Championship
Event #4 | $360 No Limit Hold'em | $200,000 GTD
Level 14 (Blinds 1,500/3,000/3,000)
Total Flight 1B Entries: 124
Flight 1B Players Remaining: 23

"You're not reporting about how big a degenerate I am," Joel Deutsch jokingly said, in regards to the fact that he's back in play after bagging last night.

While everyone else in the field is worried about making the money (and reaching the bagging process), Joel Deutsch (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) has the luxury of knowing he's already booked a ticket to Day 2.  Joel bagged 319,000 at the end of last night's flight (Flight 1A), and is hoping to take advantage of the "best stack forward bonus."  Once a player bags, they can enter another flight, in hopes of bettering that stack.  If they reach the bagging process (regardless of stack size), they will earn the Day 2 min-cash for the lesser stack (which will be taken out of play).

Deutsch is still alive, which is the first step in finding another bag, but sits with a below average stack art the moment.

Joel Deutsch - 95,000 (31bb)

FSPC Event #4 (Flight 1B): Updated Post-Break Chip Counts, Gonzalez Now Leading

2018 Florida State Poker Championship
Event #4 | $360 No Limit Hold'em | $200,000 GTD
Level 13 (Blinds 1,500/2,500/2,500)
Total Flight 1B Entries: 124
Flight 1B Players Remaining: 27

Jerry Gonzalez was all smiles just before break, sitting atop the leaderboard with 195,000 at break.

There was a little shifting going on with the leaderboard just before break, as Raminder Singh (who was heading to the break with the largest stack) doubled up Andrew Daire.  That allowed Jerry Gonzalez to slip into the top spot, returning to break with 195,000.  Level 13 resumed just eleven spots from the money, with numerous short stacks spread across the three tournament tables.  The larger stacks in the Flight 1B field are posted below:

Jerry Gonzalez - 195,000 (78bb)
Alan Ramkhalawn - 170,000 (68bb)
Raminder Singh - 170,000 (68bb)
Iftach Shimonovitc - 150,000 (60bb)

Juan Martinez - 115,000 (46bb)
Jose De La Cruz - 114,000 (45bb)
Jose Parra - 100,000 (40bb)

Players are about to head on another ten minute break, and will be returning to Level 13, with new blinds of 1,500/2,500/2,500 (85,000 chip average).  The pace of today's play has been much quicker than that of Flight 1A, as the field is just thirteen eliminations from the money.  The remaining field is listed below, with names listed by seating assignments:

FSPC Event #4 (Flight 1B): Moret-Rojas On The Rail, As Raminder Singh Cracks Pocket Aces

2018 Florida State Poker Championship

Level 11 (Blinds 800/1.600/1,600)
Total Flight 1B Entries: 124
Flight 1B Players Remaining: 43

"You should have seen what just happened," Rodney Moret-Rojas said as he was picking up some food from B-Express.  Rodney went on to tell us about a recent hand at Table 1, which made Raminder Singh the overwhelming Flight 1B chip leader.  It was the ever classic "aces vs. kings" situation, with Rodney holding the best of it.  He started the hand with 120,000, but was covered by Singh, the pair holding two of the largest stacks in the room.  Raminder ended up flopping a set of kings to crack the aces, and now sits with 315,000.

Raminder Singh - 315,000 (196bb)

FSPC Event #4 (Flight 1B): Updated Chip Counts From The Flight 1B Field

2018 Florida State Poker Championship

Level 10 (Blinds 600/1.200/1,200)

Flight 1B Players Remaining: 50

Howard "Skip" Darnold (Ft. Pierce, FL) is currently pacing the field, sitting with over 145,000 just one level after registration's close.

With registration now closed, the chip counts have a little more meaning to them, as players can't just dust them off without repercussion.  Leading the Flight 1B field in Level 10 is Howard "Skip" Darnold (Ft. Pierce, FL), who currently sits with 145,000.  Skip has over $149,000 in lifetime earnings, including a $43,000 score in a WSOP Circuit event at Palm Beach Kennel Club in 2014 ($580 No Limit Hold'em $500,000 GTD).

Skip Darnold - 145,000 (120bb)

FSPC Event #4 (Flight 1B): Registration Closes With (123) Entries, Official Numbers Released

2018 Florida State Poker Championship
Event #4 | $360 No Limit Hold'em | $200,000 GTD
Level 9 (Blinds 500/1.000/1,000)
Total Flight 1B Entries: 123
Flight 1B Players Remaining: 59

With the cards back in the air for Level 9, registration for Flight 1B of Event #4 is officially closed.  There were a total of (124) entries, of which (56) players are still alive, and hoping to reach the money/bagging process.  The prize fund from this flight is $$37,200, which brings the combined total to $83,700.

Here are the numbers that players have been waiting for:

A total of (16) players from the flight will reach the money, with the following payouts below:

8-10. $650
11-13. $550
14-16. $450

The flight will conclude when (7) players remain.

FSPC Event #4 (Flight 1B): Nigel Murray Joins The Action Late, As Registration Window Closes For Flight 1B

2018 Florida State Poker Championship
Event #4 | $360 No Limit Hold'em | $200,000 GTD
Level 8 (Blinds 400/800/800)
Total Flight 1B Entries: 115

Nigel Murray (Miami Gardens, FL) almost flew under the radar, sporting thew full beard for the first time.

Just as Level 8 started, we got our newest entrant to the field, as Nigel Murray (Miami Gardens, FL) took his seat at Table 4.  This has been the first we've seen Murray for the series, with his tournament volume seemingly down for the year.  After a 2017 in which he earned over $137,000 in tournament cashes, Murray has only $4,057 in earnings this year, spread across three recorded cashes.  Regardless of time at the table, a player with over $732,000 in lifetime earnings is always going to be on the radar in these larger field multis.

Players are about to head on their second break of the day, with the registration period for the flight closing, once cards are back in the air for Level 9.  Once Level 9 starts, we will update followers (and players) on official numbers for the flight, including payouts and end of scheduled play.

FSPC Event #4 (Flight 1B): Marco "Can Get There"-tizani Sicking Around For A Little

2018 Florida State Poker Championship
Event #4 | $360 No Limit Hold'em | $200,000 GTD
Level 7 (Blinds 300/600/600)
Total Flight 1B Entries: 108

Marco Cantizani (Boca Raton, FL) has gotten a lot of blog-love over the past two days, but doesn't yet have a Day 2 bag to show for it.

Marco Cantizani (Boca Raton, FL) was featured during yesterday's Flight 1A coverage, but was unable to reach the money (or the bagging process).  His day started off strong this afternoon, immediately chipping up to 60,000, but then ran A Q into 2 2♠ on a Q♠ 7 4♣ 2♣ board.  Marco would be left with the starting stack after losing the hand, and found himself all-in just a few hands later (for 18,400).

Cantizani stood up and collected his things, after he saw that his 10♣ 9♣ was up against A A.  The K♣ Q♠ 3 flop brought some hopes to his hand, with things getting even better after the Q♣ on the turn.  Marco still needed a club or jack on the river, with the Jcompleting the board, and giving him the double.  He's now back over 40,000, and hoping continue this flight without the up-and-down fluctuation.

Marco Cantizani - 41,000 (68bb)

FSPC Event #4 (Flight 1B): Raminder Singh Dealing With Different Competition

2018 Florida State Poker Championship
Event #4 | $360 No Limit Hold'em | $200,000 GTD
Level 6 (Blinds 300/500/500)
Total Flight 1B Entries: 102

Raminder Singh (Delray Beach, FL) is a "household" name here at the Isle Poker Room, but got some national television action last week, seated next to Patrick Antonious at the WSOP Main Event.

Just over a week ago, Raminder Singh (Delray Beach, FL) was seen on national television coverage of the WSOP $10,000 No Limit Hold'em Main Event, sitting next to Patrick Antonious.  Patrick was one of the early chip leaders at the time, and happened to be to Singh's direct left.  That doesn't make for an easy day of poker, with a player of that class there to react first to your every move.  Singh fell short of the Main Event money, but is back in action here for Event #4, getting a double up just moments ago.

On a flop of 2♠ 3♣ 5, Singh shoved for 11,000, over a 2,000 wager from Jay Romano.  Jay went into the tank, visibly unsure about what Raminder could be shoving with.  Eventually he would make the call, tabling J♠ 4♣ (open-ended straight draw), up against Singh's Q 3 (pair of threes).  The turn would bring the Q♠, taking away all of the pair outs for Romano.  The dealer then placed down the 8♠ on the river, sealing Singh's double-up, and bringing his stack to just under 25,000.

Raminder Singh - 24,400

FSPC Event #4 (Flight 1B): Ospina Off To Quick Start, Shows Ribak The Early Exit

2018 Florida State Poker Championship
Event #4 | $360 No Limit Hold'em | $200,000 GTD
Level 5 (Blinds 200/400/400)
Total Flight 1B Entries: 100

Santiago Ospina is another "unknown" in the field, as a Hendon Mob search didn't yield any recorded results (which could always be a potential name or spelling of name error).

At Table 3, Santiago Ospina would three-bet the open of Kobi Ribak, with Ribak then responding with a four-bet shove (for about 14,000).  Ospina casually tossed a chip onto the felt, signifying a call, and watched as Kobi turned over 10 10.  Santiago flipped his A A over one by one, as both players then watched the runout.  Kobi was left standing as the river was to come, asking for one of the two remaining tens in the deck.  Neither would amount, and Ribak would be knocked out from early Flight 1B play, while Ospina chipped up to 49,000.

Santiago Ospina - 49,000 (122bb)

FSPC Event #4 (Flight 1B): Scott Efron Returns To The Felt, Looking For First Isle Poker Result Of 2018

2018 Florida State Poker Championship
Event #4 | $360 No Limit Hold'em | $200,000 GTD
Level 4 (Blinds 200/300/300)
Total Flight 1B Entries: 75

Scott Efron (Boca Raton, FL) has been absent from the blog for a while, but it only took a few levels to get featured during today's coverage.

Just like Michael Chiappetta yesterday, Scott Efron (Boca Raton, FL) is an Isle Poker Room tournament regular, that we haven't seen in a while.  Efron last cashed here during the 2017 Isle Poker Open, when he finished runner-up to Alex Turyansky in Event #14 ($2,500 No Limit Hold'em).  The result was worth $28,497, and although it was his last recorded cash here, he has managed six scores this year (to date).  Efron's tournament resume boasts earnings of $347,060, which is definitely one of the more impressive numbers in this afternoon's field.

Other notables already seated in this second flight of Event #4 include:

Jay Romano
Dmitry Agrachov
Oneil McCalla
Marco Cantizani
Hugh Hardy
Frank Scala
Blaine McRae
Alberto Niebla
Allan Bieler
Carey Pickus

Players will be taking their first break of the day at the end of this level, returning to Level 5, and new blinds of 200/400/400.

FSPC Event #4 (Flight 1B): Magnetta Making Efforts To Grab A Fourth Win In A Row

2018 Florida State Poker Championship
Event #4 | $360 No Limit Hold'em | $200,000 GTD
Level 3 (Blinds 100/200/200)
Total Flight 1B Entries: 67

John Magnetta (Boynton Beach, FL) is definitely one of the more enjoyable "characters" to cover during tournaments, with a bounty of antics throughout each day.

This afternoon's flight is on the same pace as yesterday, but we do expect to see today's numbers eclipse that of Flight 1A.  One difference in today's field is the group of new faces across the tournament area, including that of John Magnetta (Boynton Beach, FL).  Blog followers may remember Magnetta from last month's $360 No Limit Hold'em ($50,000 GTD).  The ever-animated Magnetta reached the final table, and used the chip lead to grab first place money, in a three-way deal that ended the event.  The result was worth $12,455, and happened to be the second in a trio a straight tournament wins for John.  The $360 No Limit Hold'em win was sandwiched between two "Double Green Chip Bounty" wins, with the first of the $175 price point, and the second of the $150 version.  Magnetta's lifetime earnings are now over $246,000, and as long as he's in the field, we can count on some loud "BOOMS," and at-the-table dancing.

FSPC Event #4 (Flight 1B): Official Flight 1A Chip Counts

2018 Florida State Poker Championship
Event #4 | $360 No Limit Hold'em | $200,000 GTD

FSPC Event #4 (Flight 1B): Second Verse...Same As The First, Flight 1B Action About To Begin

2018 Florida State Poker Championship
Event #4 | $360 No Limit Hold'em | $200,000 GTD
Level 1 (Blinds 100/100)
Total Flight 1B Entries: N/A

In just a few minutes, the first hand will be dealt for Flight 1B of Event #4, a $360 No Limit Hold'em tournament with a $200,000 guarantee.  Yesterday's opening flight saw a total of (155) entries at registration's close, with (20) of those players reaching the money, and (8) of them bagging chips for Monday's Day 2.  Jim Hayes led the field when the bagging process started, bagging over 300,000 more than his nearest competitor (who was Evan Tietelbaum).  Jim's stack of 879,000 sets the bat extremely high for the remaining flights, but it wouldn't be surprising to see someone surpass that number.

After the conclusion of Level 14, the length will shift to (40) minutes, offering up even deeper play for players.  Registration is open through Level 8 (and the break that follows), allowing for over four hours to join the action.  The chip lead bonus also returns, as the top stack from each opening flight will earn a seat into Event #14 ($1,500 NLH Florida State Poker Championship Main Event).  Along with the big blind ante format, there is a new wrinkle to this event, with the explanation listed below:

Payouts: On each Day 1, 12.5% (1 in 8) of the field will be paid $450-$650 (depending on order of finish) down to 5% Day 2 field.

Best Stack Forward: Players qualifying for Day 2 may play another Day 1 flight in an attempt to better their chip count. Players that have qualified for Day 2 with multiple chip stacks will only be permitted to play their highest qualifying stack. The other stacks will be removed from play and the player will receive the minimum Day 2 payout (approximately $1,000) for each stack “forfeited”

Official chip counts from Flight 1A will be published next, with a first look at the Flight 1B field to follow.

Friday, July 13th; Event #4 Off To A Roaring Start, New Format Well Received By The Players

ICYMI: Yesterday started Event #4 of the 2018 Florida State Poker Championships, which is a $360 No Limit Hold'em ($200,000 GTD) multi.  On the surface, this would be nothing out of the ordinary...just the second multi of the series.  But for players who were in action, or those "in the know," the new wrinkle in the event makes for a whole different experience.  In the tournament, each of the starting flights are playing down to the 5% mark, with 12.5% of the field getting paid (during the opening flight).

So for instance, yesterday's Flight 1A had a total of (155) entries, and an official prize fund of $47,275.  That meant that (20) players were going to "reach the money," with twelve players from that number receiving a cash prize (9th-20th), and eight players bagging up chips for Monday's Day 2.  The official results from those that made the money (but did not bag) can be found during last night's coverage (if you scroll down just a bit, they are some of the most recent posts), with the official counts from those that bagged posted below.  Jim Hayes was the flight's overwhelming chip leader, and would earn himself a seat into Event #14 ($1,500 No Limit Hold'em FSPC Main Event).

Jim Hayes - 879,000
Evan Teitelbaum - 507,000
Paul Shafran. - 384,000
Amy Wan - 367,000
Sara Chau - 338,000
Joel Deutsch - 319,000
Chien Chiu - 200,100
Jay Convente - 106,000

Tournaments: Friday's tournament schedule begins at 11:00am, with Flight 1B of Event #4 ($360 No Limit Hold'em $200,000 GTD).  The tournament is structured with 20,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (30) minutes during the opening flights (transitioning to 40 minutes on Day 2).  Registration is open through Level 8 (and the break that follows), allowing more than four hours for players to decide when to join.  The interesting caveat about the event is addition of the Day 1 payouts, and double bagging.  Details about those features are listed on the structure sheet for the event, which is posted below:

At 2:00pm, there is another $90 No Limit Hold'em Satellite Into Event #4, which guarantees (5) seats.   Players in the satellite sit down to starting stacks of 8,000 units, and play (20) minute levels over the course of the afternoon.  Registration is open through Level 8 (and the break that follows), allowing for over two hours to join the action.

Just as the satellite is wrapping up, Flight 1C of Event #4 will be getting underway (6:00pm), with the same structure as listed above for Flight 1B.

Promotions: From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-6:00pm, with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.

Then, from 6:00pm-12:00am, players can win up to $1,500 every (30) minutes.  If the high hand is made on the flop, and then qualifies as the winning hand for the half hour, the player will be awarded $1,500 (no limit Hold'em games only).  If the hand is flopped in a limit Hold'em game or tournament, and it holds up for the thirty minute period, they will be awarded $750.

Following that promotion, from 12:00am-9:00am, eligible high hands will be awarded $100 every hour.

It should also be noted that players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand.  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).
