Isle Open Event #3 (Flight 1I): Zarcadoolas Had Visions Of An Isle Open Trophy Win, But Settled For A Solid Five-Figure Score

2018 Isle Open | Event #3
$100 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 7 (Blinds 300/600/600)
Total Flight 1I Entries: 79

It's been a career year for Matthew Zarcadoolas (Ft. Lauderdale, FL), who just chopped Event #1 of this series.

When you've had over six-figures in earnings for the last three years, and have already reached $200,000 this year alone, the idea of chopping in a $200 No Limit Hold'em tournament isn't very appealing.  This was the case last weekend, when Matthew Zarcadoolas (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) was at the Event #1 ($200 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD) final table.  Discussions of a deal were swirling at the final table, but Zarcadoolas liked his spot way to much to agree.  After a few eliminations, Zarcadoolas found himself one of the top stacks, and it seemed as if his decision to play on was the right one.

Zarcadoolas then doubled up Matthew Bretzfield, which put the latter in the chip lead, and made Zarcadooolas revisit his decision.  He would eventually agree to a seven-way chop, taking home third place money, which was worth $14,078.  The result just helps pad his 2018 stats, which now boasts total earnings of $200,089.

Matthew is one of the numerous notables in today's Flight 1I field, joining the likes of:

Rafael Calero
Danny Blackburn
Craig Witz
David Oshry
Joseph Mancuso
Alan Dobrow
Ralph Spadafore
Thomas Gari
Richard Wetter

Isle Open Event #3 (Flight 1I): They've Always Said, "If You Build It, They Will Come"

$100 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 5 (Blinds 200/400/400)
Total Flight 1I Entries: 80

Phillip Hui (San Antonio, TX) would normally pass on a $100 buy-in tournament, but saw the value in this week's event, and is here for the second time in as many days.

Now Phillip Hui (San Antonio, TX) wouldn't usually seek out $100 buy-in no limit hold'em tournaments, but when one is available to play...that carries a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool, he's sometimes going to fire up a few entries.  Hui was here during yesterday's afternoon flight (Flight 1G), but was unable to reach the bagging process.

The WSOP bracelet winner (2014) boasts the most impressive resume in this early field, with over $1,400,000 in lifetime tournament cashes.  While he's known in the community as a mixed-game player, Hui has shown his no limit hold'em chops lately, making three final tables in the past three months, which included a 3rd place finish in the $1,100 No Limit Hold'em event during the Florida State Poker Championships.  The result was worth $31,755, and currently stands as his best cash of this year.

Isle Open Event #3 (Flight 1I): Kicking Off A Weekend Worth Of Flights, Cards In The Air For Flight 1I

2018 Isle Open | Event #3
$100 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 1 (Blinds 100/100)
Total Flight 1I Entries: N/A

There are now eight flights in the books for Event #3 ($100 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD) of the Isle Open, with the total numbers of entries coming into the day at (783).  That's a current prize pool of $58,725, and a pace to soar past the posted guarantee.  A total of (84) players have bagged chips for Monday's Day 2, which sees play resuming at 12:00pm.  Kenneth Berman (411,500) and Andrew Davis (408,000) are sitting in the top two spots on the leaderboard, which puts them in line to earn the "chip lead bonus" ($1,500 NLH Isle Open Main Event seat).

Players are already seated and ready for Flight 1I of this event, with the cards getting in the air momentarily.  A full list of official chip counts to this point will be posted shortly, followed by the beginning of updated coverage for the afternoon flight.

Friday, October 12th: More Friday Flights, With "Super High Hands" Returning This Evening

ICYMI: Thursday saw two more Event #3 ($100 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD) flights, as a combined (210) entries tried to find themselves a bag for Monday's Day 2.  From that total number, (22) players were able to reach the bagging process, with a new name entering the "top two."  Andrew Davis ended up bagging the Flight 1H chip lead (408,000), and joined Kenneth Berman atop the chip counts, putting himself in line for the "chip lead bonus" (a seat into the $1,500 NLH Isle Open Main Event).
A new group of players will be trying to eclipse those numbers today, with two more Event #3 flights on the schedule.

Tournaments: Today's tournament schedule looks a lot like the four days before it, with two Event #3 ($100 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD) flights, and a $30 No Limit Hold'em Satellite for the tournament (Event #3).
The event is structured with 16,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (25) minutes.  Registration for each flight is open through Level 8, and the ten minute break that follows.  Today's flights begin at 11:00am (Flight 1I) and 6:00pm (Flight 1J), with a satellite sandwiched between.

The $30 No Limit Hold'em Satellite Into Event #3 guarantees (10) seats, and begins at 2:00pm.  Details for the satellite's structure can be found by the tournament area, or by calling the poker room.

Promotions: The high hand period runs from 10:00am-12:00am (midnight), with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.  From 12:00am-9:00am, players are eligible for $100 high hands every hour.

It should also be noted that players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand.  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).

In addition to the "standard" high hands, from 6:00pm through 12:00am, players are eligible for the "Super High Hands." Players that make a qualifying royal flush, will be awarded up to $3,000, depending on what game they are playing (No Limit Hold'em and Pot Limit Omaha are awarded the $3,000).  Players that make a qualifying straight flush, will be awarded up to $1,200, depending on what game they are playing (No Limit Hold'em and Pot Limit Omaha are awarded the $1,200).  Full rules and payouts are posted in the poker room, and on social media (Twitter and Facebook).
