Event 1 (Day 2): 3rd Place - Robertson ($9,282)

Event 1 ($150 Monster Stack NLH)
Level 38 (250,000/500,000/50,000)
Total Entries: 1,142
Players Remaining: 2
Chip Average: 14,000,000 (28BB)

David Albertson (Coral Springs, FL) 3rd Place - $9,282
David Alberston's Event 1 run just ended in dramatic fashion, getting it in behind...turning the lead...only to end up losing on the river:

Gavilanis: A 10             Albertson: K Q

Flop: 10 8♠ 8
Turn: K♣
River: A♠

We are now heads up for the Event 1 trophy between Washington Gavilinas (23,000,000) and Al Efremoff (5,000,000)

Event 1 (Day 2): 4th Place - Hefley ($7,641)

Chip Average: 9,000,000 (22BB)

Mike Hefley (Boonton, NJ) 4th Place - $7,641

Event 1 (Day 2): 5th Place - Singh ($6,227)

Event 1 ($150 Monster Stack NLH)
Level 37 (Blinds 200,000/400,000/50,000)
Total Entries: 1,142
Players Remaining: 4
Chip Average: 7,100,000 (18 BB)

Raminder Singh (Delray Beach, FL) 5th Place - $6,227

We watched as another player that was once one of the larger stacks succumbs to the sky high blinds and antes.  Raminder Singh (Delray Beach, FL) was pretty dejected while telling the media his bustout hand, as he shoved 10♠ 9♣ and couldn't find any help against A♠ 6♠.  While this wasn't the result Raminder was looking for, he did have the opportunity to play with (and sit next to ) two of his Slum Donkey Poker "brethren."

The "Slumdog Donkey Poker" Crew (Lightner, Jones, and Singh)

Event 1 (Day 2): Updated Chip Counts

Event 1 ($150 Monster Stack NLH)
Level 37 (Blinds 200,000/400,000/50,000)
Total Entries: 1,142
Players Remaining: 5
Chip Average: 5,700,000 (18 BB)

Here are the updated final table chip counts:
  1. Washington Gavilanis - 10,000,000
  2. Al Efremoff - 4,800,000
  3. Mike Hefley - 5,800,000
  4. Raminder Singh - 4,200,000
  5. David Albertson - 2,900,000

Event 1 (Day 2): 6th Place - Lightner ($5,094)

Event 1 ($150 Monster Stack NLH)
Level 36 (Blinds 175,000/300,000/40,000)
Total Entries: 1,142
Players Remaining: 5
Chip Average: 5,700,000 (18 BB)

Maurice Lightner (Philadelphia, PA) 6th Place - $5,094

With the blind:stack ratio what it is, the fact that any player finds themselves short in a blink of an eye shouldn't come as much of a surprise.  Maurice Lightner (Philadelphia, PA) shoved ten bigs under-the-gun, and was called by Washington Gavilanis, who was in the small blind:

Lightner: J 10                  Gavilanis: A♠ A♣

Flop: 2 10♠ 9
Turn: 7
River: 4♣

Lightner flopped great for his hand without taking the lead, and turned even more outs, but it was "too many outs" in the end (like the kids say).

There was talk over an even chop that lasted for about five minutes after the hand, but no agreement was made, and the players decided to play on.

Event 1 (Day 2): Updated Six-Handed Counts

Event 1 ($150 Monster Stack NLH)
Level 35 (Blinds 150,000/300,000/40,000)
Total Entries: 1,142
Players Remaining: 6
Chip Average: 4,800,000 (16 BB)

Here are your updated final table chip counts:

  1. Washington Gavilanis - 3,000,000
  2. Al Efremoff - 7,500,000
  3. Maurice Lightner - 6,000,000
  4. Mike Hefley - 2,400,000
  5. Raminder Singh - 4,600,000
  6. David Albertson - 6,400,000

Event 1 (Day 2): 7th Place - Miller ($4,076)

Event 1 ($150 Monster Stack NLH)
Level 34 (Blinds 125,000/250,000/35,000)
Total Entries: 1,142
Players Remaining:
Chip Average: 4,800,000 (19 BB)

David Miller (Seminole, FL) 7th Place - $4,076

David Miller (Seminole, FL) did an excellent job grinding a below average stack for a good share of the final table, but couldn't win a flip when it mattered most.  His A 10♠ would fall to the J♠ J of Al Efremoff, and Miller would leave the final table to collect his winnings at he podium.

Level 35 just started, with blinds going up to 150,000/300,000/40,000, which means the chip average is now just 16 big blinds.  Things should be happening fast over the next few levels, so we will grab an updated chip count, and have that posted shortly.

Event 1 (Day 2): 8th Place - Catinchi ($3,057)

Event 1 ($150 Monster Stack NLH)
Level 34 (Blinds 125,000/250,000/35,000)
Total Entries: 1,142
Players Remaining: 7
Chip Average: 4,100,000 (16 BB)

Pedro Catinchi (Miami, FL) 8th Place - $3,057

Of the players remaining since reaching the final table, Pedro Catinchi's stack saw the most movement.  He ping-ponged from the top half to the bottom half of the chip counts, and chose the wrong time to risk all of his betting units.  Catinchi shoved from middle position for just under 2,000,000, and watched as Maurice Lightner reshoved behind.  Lighner would turn over pocket aces, and would be dominating the A♣ 7of Catinchi.  The hand was over on the turn, and Catinchi would collect his things and walk away from the table.

Event 1 (Day 2): Price Of Poker Getting High

Event 1 ($150 Monster Stack NLH)
Level 33 (Blinds 100,000/200,000/30,000)
Total Entries: 1,142
Players Remaining: 8
Chip Average: 3,600,000 (15 BB)

The play has slowed down dramatically with eight players remaining, but as each moment passes, the stacks sizes become shallower and shallower.  David Albertson still leads the way with over 5,000,000 in chips, and has been very active since returning from break.  The shot stacks at the final table are Dave Miller (1,400,000) and Washington Gavilanis (1,300,000).  Both players have less than ten big blinds in front of them, so one would expect to see those stacks in the middle over the course of the next level or so (with blinds going up in ten minutes to 125,000/250,000).

Event 1 (Day 2): 9th Place - Mutschler ($2,151)

Event 1 ($150 Monster Stack NLH)
Level 32 (Blinds 80,000/160,000/20,000)
Total Entries: 1,142
Players Remaining: 8
Chip Average: 3,600,000 (22 BB)

Eric Mutschler (Oakland Park, FL) 9th Place - $2,151

Event 1 (Day 2): 10th Place - Fequiere ($1,414)

Event 1 ($150 Monster Stack NLH)
Level 32 (Blinds 80,000/160,000/20,000)
Total Entries: 1,142
Players Remaining: 9
Chip Average: 3,100,000 (19 BB)

Yves Fequiere (Miami, FL) 10th Place - $1,414

Yves Fequiere (Miami, FL) was the defending champion of the Isle Poker Open Event 1, and while reaching the final table in a field of this size was a feat in itself Yves falls short of his ultimate goal.  Yves shoved in late position for 1,100,000, and when it folded around to David Albertson in the small blind, he was re-shove (pushing the big blind out).  Yves's A8♣ was dominated by the A Q♣ of Albertson, and while he gained extra chop outs headed to the river, it would not be for the local legend.

Event 1 (Day 2): Final Table Chip Counts

Event 1 ($150 Monster Stack NLH)
Level 32 (Blinds 80,000/160,000/20,000)
Total Entries: 1,142
Players Remaining: 10
Chip Average: 2,900,000 (17 BB)

Event 1 Final Table (Updated Chip Counts):

  1. Pedro Cavinchi - 3,000,000
  2. Washington Gavilanis - 2,500,000
  3. Al Efremoff - 2,400,000
  4. Maurice Lightner - 3,900,000
  5. Mike Hefley - 2,700,000
  6. Yves Fequiere - 2,200,000
  7. Raminder Singh - 4,500,000
  8. Dan Miller - 1,200,000
  9. Eric Muschler - 1,100,000
  10. David Albertson - 4,700,000

Event 1 (Day 2): 11th Place - Humphries ($1,414)

Event 1 ($150 Monster Stack NLH)
Level 32 (Blinds 80,000/160,000/20,000)
Total Entries: 1,142
Players Remaining: 11
Chip Average: 2,800,000 (17 BB)

Christian Humphries (Florida) 11th Place - $1,414

It was going to be a long road for Christian Humphries, who allowed himself to blind down to less than one big blind by the time he was all-in and at ask.  His all-in was called in three spots, and Maurice Lightner would be the player who shipped the pot that would be Christian's last.

Players are now redrawing for the final table, and once that is done, we will bring you seating assignments and updated chip counts.

Event 1 (Day 2): 12th Place - Scheinberg ($1,414)

Event 1 ($150 Monster Stack NLH)
Level 31 (Blinds 60,000/120,000/15,000)
Total Entries: 1,142
Players Remaining: 11
Chip Average: 2,600,000 (21 BB)

Mike Scheinberg (Boca Raton, FL) 12th Place - $1,414

Mike Scheinberg was another player below the ten big blind mark, so he chose a hand moments ago to shove from early position, and was called by Pedro Catinchi.  Scheinberg would need help with his K 8♠ against the A♣ Q♣ of Catinchi, but an ace high flop would leave him drawing very thin, and he'd be eliminated just two spots short of the final table.

Event 1 (Day 2): 13th Place - Albrandi ($1,019)

Event 1 ($150 Monster Stack NLH)
Level 30 (Blinds 50,000/100,000/10,000)
Total Entries: 1,142
Players Remaining: 12
Chip Average: 2,400,000 (24 BB)

Paula Albrandi (Mirimar, FL) 13th Place - $1,019

Just moments after becoming the "last lady standing," Paula Albrandi (Miramar, FL) would shove less than ten bigs over an open (button) from Washington Gavilanis.  Washington's odds on a call were seemingly too good to fold (considering her shove in relation to the open), and he would call with 67against the A Qof Albrandi.  The 5♣ 10 7 J♣ 3♣ runout would be the final hand Paula would see, as she walked away from the table in 13th place.

Event 1 (Day 2): 14th Place - Jones ($1,019)

Event 1 ($150 Monster Stack NLH)
Level 30 (Blinds 50,000/100,000/10,000)
Total Entries: 1,142
Players Remaining: 13
Chip Average: 2,200,000 (22 BB)

Kimberly Jones (14th Place - $1,019)

Richie Tenenmbaum (who is actually Reminder Singh) just scored his second knockout in a matter of (5) minutes, as he sent good friend (and fellow "Slum Donkey Poker" mate) Kimberly Jones to the rail.  Jones shoved her remaining 1,200,000, and was immediately called by Singh, who had her at risk.  Singh flipped well once again, flopping a set with pocket nines against Jones's A♠ K♣, eliminating Kim in 14th place ($1,019).

* Kim, we are sorry the only picture we had to use was with eyes closed!!

Event 1 (Day 2): 15th Place - Martinez ($1,019)

Event 1 ($150 Monster Stack NLH)
Level 30 (Blinds 50,000/100,000/10,000)
Total Entries: 1,142
Players Remaining: 14
Chip Average: 2,000,000 (20 BB)

George Martinez (16th Place - $1,019)

As we approached Table 1, "Richie Tenenbaum" was faced with a three-bet from George Martinez (Miami, FL) (700,000), essentially putting George all-in (he left 150,000).  After a few moments, Richie announced that he was all-in, and Martinez flicked in his remaining chips.  Martinez would be flipping with K♠ 8 against the 7♠ 7of Tenenbaum, eventually watching as the board ran out with no improvement of his hand.  Martinez would be eliminated in 16th place, earning himself $1,019.  Tenenbaum would bring his stack above the 2,400,000 mark with that pot.

Event 1 (Day 2): 16th-18th Places ($668)

Event 1 ($150 Monster Stack NLH)
Level 26 (Blinds 35,000/70,000/5,000)
Total Entries: 1,142
Players Remaining: 15
Chip Average: 1,900,000 (23 BB)

Moments ago we lost Eduardo Medoff in 16th place ($668), as he got it in good with A K against the A♣ Q of Yves Fequiere, but watched as the A Q J 5 3♣ would send him to the rail.  The following players have been eliminated from Event 1, cashing for $668:

16. Eduardo Medoff (Miami, FL)
17. Jon Lane (Davie, FL)
18. Michael Cohen (West Palm Beach, FL)

Event 1 (Day 2): 19th-27th Places ($566)

The following players have been eliminated from Event 1, and cashed for $566:

Total Entries: 1,142
Players Remaining: 43
Chip Average: 667,000 (14BB)

The 500,000 denomination "plaques" are now in play, and they just look nice.

There aren't many casinos in the United States that use tournament plaques for their poker tournaments, but they are slowly gaining popularity.  While they are something fresh and new to the community, they are also incredible space savers for the mountainous stacks you see at tournaments (especially those of this field size).

Event 1 (Day 2): The Final Four...Ladies

Event 1 ($150 Monster Stack NLH)
Level 24 (Blinds 15,000/30,000/4,000)
Total Entries: 1,142
Players Remaining: 44
Chip Average: 652,000 (22BB)

Hyndi Khomutestsky (Orlando, FL)
Players are currently on a (15) minute break, and will be returning to Level 24, and new blinds of 15,000/30,000/4,000.  It seems as if the ladies are looking make a little noise in this tournament, as four women currently remain, three of which hold onto above average stacks at the moment.  Leading the way for the women is Hyndi Khomutetsky (Orlando, FL), who currently sits with 1,200,000.  That is good enough for a top ten stack, and a candidate for the newly introduces plaques (worth 500,000).  If you follow poker in detail, you know..."Everyone loves plaques."

Hyndi Knomutestsky - 1,200,000
Kim Jones - 670,000
Paula Albrandi - 650,000
Mary Jane Forsythe - 400,000

Total Entries: 1,142
Players Remaining: 51
Chip Average: 563,000

Robert "Poppa Bear" Transue (North Lauderdale, FL)

The millionaires club has a few more members now, joined by none other than "Poppa Bear," otherwise known as Robert Transue.  If the name sounds familiar from earlier in the week, that's because Transue's name heads the list of "all-time cashes" here at the Isle.  This is Robert's 47th cash at this poker room, making him eleven cashes clear of his nearest competitor.  It's clear that Transue is no stranger to deep runs, with a total of (72) lifetime recorded cashes, and over $180,000 in earnings.  With a first place finish in this event, Robert would eclipse the $200,000 lifetime earnings mark.

Al Efremoff - 1,500,000
Robert Transue - 1,200,000
David Albertson - 1,200,000
John Freidkes - 1,000,000

Tournament Director Ralph Brandt made an announcement across the poker room in regards to the 3:00pm $70 "Step 1" Satellite that started moments ago.  Three seats are guaranteed into the $340 Mega that runs on October 26 (into the Main Event).  It's an opportunity to gain entry to a $1,500 Main Event for just $70...and we've all heard the stories before, about turning one of these satellites into a life changing score.
