Isle Poker Classic Event #8 (Day 2): Updated Chip Counts From The Final Level Of Day 2

2018 Isle Poker Classic (Event #7)
$1,100 No Limit Hold'em Main Event
$200,000 GTD
Level 24 (Blinds 15,000/30,000/30,000)
Total Event #7 Entries: 244
Players Remaining: 3

There were discussions (when things were four-handed) about potentially stopping at the end of Level 23, but after the elimination of Scott Baumstein, the players agreed to finish out Level 24 (and then bag for Day 3).  Listed below, are the updated three-handed chip counts from the final table:
  1. Hunter Cichy - 1,400,000
  2. Jeff Trudeau - 5,000,000
  3. Elliot Zaydman - 800,000

Isle Poker Classic Event #8 (Day 2): Two Eliminations In Succession, Fortin Out In 5th Place ($11,514), Followed By Baumstein In 4th Place ($14,909)

2018 Isle Poker Classic (Event #7)
$1,100 No Limit Hold'em Main Event
$200,000 GTD
Level 23 (Blinds 15,000/25,000/25,000)
Total Event #7 Entries: 244
Players Remaining: 3

Bruno Fortin (Quebec, Canada) flopped top-top with A♠ 10♠, but when he chips got all-in, he'd be up against a flopped set, and ended top drawing dead on the turn.  The $11,514 he earned for fifth place was the second largest cash of his career, just behind a runner-up finish in an event during the 2015 Aria/WPT 500 series.
Scott Baumstein (New York, NY) was eliminated the hand right after Bruno Fortin, with the action yet not confirmed (Baumstein declined to give the hand history).

Isle Poker Classic Event #8 (Day 2): Matt Smith Eliminated In 6th Place ($9,541) By Scott Baumstein

2018 Isle Poker Classic (Event #7)
$1,100 No Limit Hold'em Main Event
$200,000 GTD
Level 23 (Blinds 15,000/25,000/25,000)
Total Event #7 Entries: 244
Players Remaining: 5

Matt Smith (Margate, FL) could have eclipsed his best career year in earnings if he finished third or better, but fell just short with this sixth place finish.

After an open from Jeff Trudeau, and three-bet from Scott Baumstein, Matt Smith would four-bet shove for just over 300,000.  Trudeau released his hand, and Baumstein made the call, putting Smith at risk:

Smith: A Q♠
Baumstein: A♠ K♣

Runout: 10♣ 2♠ 4 7♣ 4♠

Smith's hand was dominated heading to the runout, and without hitting a queen (or making a straight or four-card flush), Matt would be eliminated.  He would collect $9,541 for sixth place, which was his first cash since chopping the Isle Open $1,500 No Limit Hold'em Main Event.

Isle Poker Classic Event #8 (Day 2): Tom Gity Eliminated In 7th Place ($8,130) By Hunter Cichy

2018 Isle Poker Classic (Event #7)
$1,100 No Limit Hold'em Main Event
$200,000 GTD
Level 23 (Blinds 15,000/25,000/25,000)
Total Event #7 Entries: 244
Players Remaining: 6

Tom Gity (Pompano Beach, FL) had been all over the leaderboard during these later stages of the day, sitting as the chip leader at one point, and the shortest stack another.

Hunter Cichy opened the action with a raise to 55,000, and would get one call, from Tom Gity in the big blind.  After the 8♠ 4♠ 2 flop, Gity decided to lead for 115,000, only to see Hunter raise all-in (having Tom covered).  Gity called off the rest of his stack, and the hands were tabled:

Gity: 3 3♠
Cichy: 6♠ 7♠

Turn: A♠
River: 9

Gity went with his read, and while his pocket threes were good, they had to fade the combo draw of Cichy.  Hunter would hit his flush on the turn, leaving Tom drawing dead, and eliminating him in 6th place ($8,130).

Isle Poker Classic Event #8 (Day 2): Updated Chip Counts To Begin Level 23

2018 Isle Poker Classic (Event #7)
$1,100 No Limit Hold'em Main Event
$200,000 GTD
Level 23 (Blinds 15,000/25,000/25,000)
Total Event #7 Entries: 244
Players Remaining: 7

Outside of Nancy Birnbaum's elimination, the action was pretty slow for most of the level...until Elliot Zaydman doubled through Jeff Trudeau.  The chips got all-in pre, with Zaydman holding A Q, against Jeff's 10 10.  Trudeau was able to fade the flop, but Zaydman spiked an ace on the turn, which held up on after the river.  Updated chip counts from the level's transition are posted below:
  1. Bruno Fortin - 280,000
  2. Matt Smith - 540,000
  3. Hunter Cichy - 900,000
  4. Jeff Trudeau - 2,500,000
  5. Tom Gity - 900,000
  6. Elliot Zaydman - 1,300,000
  7. Scott Baumstein - 900,000

Isle Poker Classic Event #8 (Day 2): Nancy Birnbaum Eliminated In 8th Place ($6,934) By Matt Smith

2018 Isle Poker Classic (Event #7)
$1,100 No Limit Hold'em Main Event
$200,000 GTD
Level 22 (Blinds 10,000/20,000/20,000)
Total Event #7 Entries: 244
Players Remaining: 7

Nancy Birnbaum (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) lost a good chunk of her stack before break (doubling up Tom Gity), and couldn't spin her short stack up after play resumed.

Nancy Birnbaum (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) had a serious hill to climb when play resumed from the most recent break, returning to a stack of five big blinds.  After having to fold her big blind to a shove from Hunter Cichy, she'd three-bet shove for 90,000 the next hand, over a raise from Matt Smith.  Matt made the call, and the cards found their backs.  Nancy's 4♠ 4♣ would be flipping with Smith's A K, and while she survived the flop and turn, Smith found an ace on the river to send her to the payout podium.

Isle Poker Classic Event #8 (Day 2): Updated Final Table Chip Counts

2018 Isle Poker Classic (Event #7)

Isle Poker Classic Event #8 (Day 2): Unfortunate River Sees Jaime Wiegrefe Eliminated In 9th Place ($5,543)

2018 Isle Poker Classic (Event #7)
$1,100 No Limit Hold'em Main Event
$200,000 GTD
Level 21 (Blinds 8,000/16,000/16,000)
Total Event #7 Entries: 244
Players Remaining: 8

Jaime Wiegrefe (Miami, FL) experienced the ugly side of variance, as he was one card away from doubling, but watched Jeff Trudeau his a two-outer to steal the pot away.

There was a collective reaction from the final table (and the growing rail), and looking over, Jaime Wiegrefe (Miami, FL) would be pushing his chips towards the middle.  They were not being counted down by the dealer, yet shipped over the way of Jeff Trudeau.  The two players got it all-in pre-flop, with Wiegrefe at risk:

Wiegrefe: K♠ K
Trudeau: Q♠ Q

Runout: J 9 6♣ 9 Q♣

Jaime was just one card away from eclipsing the million-chip mark, but couldn't fade the two-outer.  He'd exit the table in 9th place, collecting $5,543 for his efforts.

Isle Poker Classic Event #8 (Day 2): Final Table Fireworks Right Off The Bat, Scott Zakheim Eliminated In 10th Place ($4,699)

2018 Isle Poker Classic (Event #7)
$1,100 No Limit Hold'em Main Event
$200,000 GTD
Level 21 (Blinds 8,000/16,000/16,000)
Total Event #7 Entries: 244
Players Remaining: 9

Scott Zakheim (Davie, FL) entered the final table in need of a double, but for the second time in five hands, a player ran into the pocket aces of Hunter Cichy.

Scott Zakheim (Davie, FL) entered the final table as the shortest stack, and two hands in, he'd be all-in for 207,000.  After two folds, Hunter Cichy announced himself all-in as well (for over 1,000,000), clearing out the players behind:

Zakheim: A 10
Cichy: A A♠

Runout: 4♣ 3♦ 2♠ 9♠ 10

Scott flopped outs to a chop, but the turn and river would solidify the win for Hunter.  Scott earns $4,699 for his 10th place finish, bringing his 2018 earnings above $60,000.

Isle Poker Classic Event #8 (Day 2): Lukas Pribyl Bubbles The Event #8 Final Table, Eliminated In 11th Place ($4,699) By Jeff Trudeau

2018 Isle Poker Classic (Event #7)
$1,100 No Limit Hold'em Main Event
$200,000 GTD
Level 21 (Blinds 8,000/16,000/16,000)
Total Event #7 Entries: 244
Players Remaining: 10

Lukas Pribyl (Czech Republic) has been flying under the radar for most of the day, but could not score a double on the final table bubble.

Two hands after the elimination of Mihaly Lukacs, Jeff Trudeau opened the action from the hijack, and would watch Lukas Pribyl three-bet shove for 230,000 (from the button).  The blinds both folded, and Jeff made the call, putting Lukas at risk:

Pribyl: 10♠ 10♣
Trudeau: K Q

Runout: Q♣ 6 2♣ 4♠ 6♠

Trudeau flopped a pair of queens to grab the lead, which would hold up through the runout.  Lukas departs the field in 11th place, while the remaining players redraw for their final table seats.

Isle Poker Classic Event #8 (Day 2): Event #8 On Final Table Bubble, After Elimination Of Mihaly Lukacs In 12th Place ($4,699)

Players Remaining: 11

Mihlay Lukacs (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) was super active in the later stages of Day 2, and ran into the wrong hand...at the wrong time.

After running an unsuccessful river bluff against Jeff Trudeau, Mihaly Lukacs (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) was left with a sub-fifteen big blind stack.  He'd find himself all-in the very next hand, holding A2 against the A♠ A♣ of Hunter Cichy.  Needless to say, Mihlay's hand would fall, and he'd exit the field as our 12th place finisher ($4,699).  The result eclipsed his lifetime earnings coming into the day, which were $4,455.

Hunter Cichy - 1,000,000
Mihaly Lukacs - Eliminated (12th Place - $4,699)

With action at Table 3 folding around to Sebastian Kos (on the button), he'd open to 20,000.  A short stacked AJ Gambino then shoved from the small blind (151,000), with Connor White then folding his big blind.  Kos asked for an exact count, and after a minute of thought, made the call:

Gambino: 10♣ 8♣
Kos: A♠ 9

Runout: K♣ 6♣ 7 5 4♠

Gambino didn't flop a pair, but it was a favorable flop for his hand, as he added a combo draw (flush and straight).  The turn added even more outs, one of which AJ would hit on the river to double.

With the money bubble behind us, the focus can now shift to the big picture at hand, and that's crowning a new Isle Poker Classic champion.  There are a lot of seasoned veterans remaining, but also some players that are experiencing the magnitude of a tournament such as this, for the first time ever.  The overall chip leader, Mihaly Lukacs has never found himself in a position where he's played for this much money, so it will be interesting to see how he holds up.  Listed below, are updated chip counts from the field:

Isle Poker Classic Event #8 (Day 2): Dmitry Agrachov Eliminated On The Bubble, Event #8 In The Money!!!

2018 Isle Poker Classic (Event #7)

$200,000 GTD
Level 17 (Blinds 3,000/6,000/6,000)
Total Event #7 Entries: 244
Players Remaining: 31

Mihaly Lukacs (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) became everyone's favorite Event #8 player (for a moment), eliminating Dmitry Agrachov on the money bubble.

After sixteen hands on the bubble (hand-for-hand), players were on the final hand of Level 16 (with an announced break to follow).  At Table 3, action folded around to Dmitry Agrachov (on the button), who raised to 15,000.  Mihaly Lukacs three-bet to 30,000 out of the small blind, and after the big blind folded, Agrachov made the call.

The two would see a flop of K9♠ 8♣, with Lukacs immediately announcing himself all-in, putting Agrachov at a decision for his remaining stack (he had just under 100,000 left).  In what looked like frustration, Dmitry pushed his chips forward, signifying a call and putting himself at risk:

Lukacs: A K♠
Agrachov: K Q

Turn: 10♣
River: 10♠

With the board running out with two tens, both players would have kings-up, but Mihaly held the better kicker.  Dmitry quickly grabbed his backpack, and exited the table as the Event #8 "bubble boy."  Once play resumes in Level 17, everyone will be informed they are in the money, and guaranteed at least $1,648.
