Isle Open Event #1 (Flight 1A): Opening Event #1 Flight Now Entering It's Final Level Of Play

2018 Isle Open | Event #1
$200 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 16 (Blinds 2,500/5,000/5,000)
Total Flight 1A Entries: 73
Flight 1A Players Remaining: 12

The tournament clock just transitioned to Level 16, with players now posting blinds of 2,500/5,000/5,000.  Play for the day is scheduled to stop at the conclusion of this level, or will pause if the field reaches eight players before that time.  When 10:00 minutes remain on the clock, the moving clock will be paused, and players will be informed of how many hands remain in the flight.  Once those hands are completed, the bags will be brought out, and remaining players will pack away their chips for Sunday's Day 2.  Those interested in official chip counts from Flight 1A, can check the blog in just a short while, as they will be posted once made official by tournament supervisors.

Isle Open Event #1 (Flight 1A): Robert Campbell Putting Himself In Position To Reach A Milestone Number

2018 Isle Open | Event #1
$200 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 15 (Blinds 2,000/4,000/4,000)
Total Flight 1A Entries: 73
Flight 1A Players Remaining: 12

Robert Campbell (Miami, FL) is just under $70,000 away from reaching the $1,000,000 mark in lifetime tournament earnings.

Robert Campbell (Miami, FL) is the most accomplished player remaining in the field, and is looking to finish atop the final group of Flight 1A players.  With over $932,000 in lifetime earnings, Robert is creeping very close to that $1,000,000 milestone, which is an incredibly impressive feat.  A jack-of-all-trades, Campbell has seen success in numerous poker variants, finding himself now to be a "mixed-game specialist."  Robert's best cash of the year came during the WSOP, when he just missed out on making the final table of the $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha 8B Hi/Lo (Event #53) final table.  Campbell finished in 12th place, which was worth $13,429.

Robert currently sits with over 180,000, and with just two levels remaining in the flight (scheduled), is one of the favorites to bag the overall chip lead.

Isle Open Event #1 (Flight 1A): Silver Sends Alberto Niebla To The Rail, Assumes Overall Chip Lead

2018 Isle Open | Event #1
$200 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 14 (Blinds 2,000/3,000/3,000)
Total Flight 1A Entries: 73
Flight 1A Players Remaining: 14

Harry Silver (Pompano Beach, FL) had a rough start to the day, but has taken advantage of his "second chance," choosing to re-enter shortly after being eliminated in Level 5.

Over at Table 3, Alberto Niebla open-shoved for 22,500, with Harry Silver then three-betting to 50,000.  Players took their time to fold behind, but eventually left the two to battle it out, with Silver holding a commanding lead when the cards were tabled:

Silver: A Q
Niebla: K Q♠

Runout: 7♠ 3♠ 2♠ 4 5

"I need a king please," Niebla kindly asked the dealer, after seeing the hand he was up against.  "Now I could use a spade," Alberto said aloud, once he flopped the flush draw.  The outs his desperately looked for never amounted on the turn or river, and Silver would collect Alberto's remaining chips.  With that pot, Silver chips up to 190,000, and takes over the top spot on the leaderboard.

Harry Silver - 190,000 (63bb)

Isle Open Event #1 (Flight 1A): Robbins Sends Home Two Just Before Break, Eclipses The 100,000 Mark

2018 Isle Open | Event #1
$200 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 13 (Blinds 1,500/2,500/2,500)
Total Flight 1A Entries: 73
Flight 1A Players Remaining: 15

Aaron Robbins (Coconut Creek, FL) returned from the final break of the day, to a very healthy stack (125,000), which is well above current average.

On the final hand of Level 12, Aaron Robbins (Coconut Creek, FL) eliminated two players from Flight 1A, leaving the field just six eliminations from bagging.  Jacquelyn Scott shoved blind for just a few big blinds to open the action, with Joel Langer than re-shoving, for close to 33,000.  Action folded two Aaron Robbins, who also announced himself all-in, having both players covered.  The blinds released their hands, and the cards then found their backs:

Robbins: J J♣
Scott: 10♠ 8♣
Langer: K J

Runout: A♣ 9♠ 3 6♠ J♠

Robbins was in solid shape when the cards were turned over, and would see his hand hold up through the runout.  After collecting the chips of both Scott and Langer, Robbins would chip up to 125,000.

Aaron Robbins - 125,000 (50bb)

Isle Open Event #1 (Flight 1A): Michael Eddy Making Things Look Easy, Approaching 200,000

2018 Isle Open | Event #1

Level 11 (Blinds 800/1,600/1,600)
Total Flight 1A Entries: 73
Flight 1A Players Remaining: 21

Michael Eddy (Hollywood, FL) has seen a lot of his focus go towards handicapping the ponies, with the occasional winning poker hand sprinkled in.

At Table 3, Michael Eddy (Hollywood, FL) opened the action from under-the-gun, with a raise to 5,000.  The next player went all-in for less (1,800), with action then folding around to Lloyd Gunther, who was in the big blind.  Gunther announced himself all-in (for just over 25,000), with Eddy immediately making the call:

Eddy: K♠ K♣
Gunther: A J♣
A. Nonymous: Q 3

Runout: J♠ 2♣ 9 4 Q♣

Eddy looked to be in great shape to send two players home, which is exactly what he did, after his kings held up through the runout.  Eddy is now over 175,000, and looks to become the first player to reach the 200,000 mark.

Michael Eddy - 178,000 (111bb)

Larry Kusch (Sumterville, FL) was given the nickname "donkey" by his friends, but at the moment, he's not living up to the moniker.

His nickname might be Larry "Donkey" Kusch (Sumterville, FL), but surely not playing like one...as Larry enters Level 10 as the Flight 1A chip leader.  Kusch was the first player to eclipse the 100,000 mark, and at the halfway point of Level 9, he had just over 120,000.  Earlier chip leaders Michael Eddy and Jacquelyn Scott are still towards the top of the leaderboard, with some new names emerging.  The chip counts posted below are from the later stages of Level 9:

Larry Kusch - 122,000 (101bb)
Michael Eddy - 95,000 (79bb)
Jacquelyn Scott - 95,000 (79bb)
Zachary Mullennix - 90,000 (75bb)
Lloyd Gunther - 85,000 (70bb)
Stanton Drazen - 60,000 (50bb)
Alberto Niebla - 58,000 (48bb)
Danny Blackburn - 55,000 (45bb)

Isle Open Event #1 (Flight 1A): Official Flight 1A Numbers Are In, And They Look Very Good

Total Flight 1A Entries: 73

The cards are back in the air for Level 9 of Flight 1A, with registration now officially closed.  The opening flight of Event #1 ($200 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD) closed with a total of (73) entries, of which (31) currently remain.  The official prize fund from the flight is $11,534, which is a great number to start the tournament with.  Considering the trend of growing fields towards the weekend, we are looking at an official prize pool that is going to crush the number.  The flight is scheduled to play through the conclusion of Level 16, or until the 10% mark (which for this flight, is eight players).  The first look at updated chip counts from the field will be posted in less than thirty minutes.

Level 8 (Blinds 400/800/800)
Total Flight 1A Entries: 67

William Swicicki (Tamarac, FL) is just one of a handful of players that are atop the leaderboard, as the field is still waiting for it's first player to eclipse the century mark.

Play entered Level 8 just a few moments ago, with the blinds going up to 400/800/800 (36,200 chip average).  The field is closing in on (70) total entries, which is a super number for an opening flight on Wednesday.  The first look at official chip counts from the field will be posted shortly after the second break, which will occur at the end of this level.  Once the cards are in the air for Level 9, registration will be closed for Flight 1A, with the pertinent numbers published for blog followers.

At the moment, the top of the leaderboard is very crowded, with a handful of players hovering around the 70,000 mark (Jacquelyn Scott, Michael Eddy, William Swicicki, Danny Blackburn).

Isle Open Event #1 (Flight 1A): Blackburn Trying To Turn Satellite Entry Into Five-Figure Score

Danny Blackburn (St. Louis, MO) got into this event through a $50 No Limit Hold'em Satellite, and is now hoping to bag chips for Sunday's Day 2.

Danny Blackburn (St. Louis, MO) was one of eleven players to earn seats into this event, during the first of two satellites that were run yesterday.  Blackburn got his hand on a seat for just $50, which is the buy-in for all of the satellites for Event #1.  With three already in the books, and one wrapping up as we speak, players have three more opportunities to join the action for a fraction of the cost.  The schedule for the remaining Event #1 satellites is listed below, including two that boast (10) seat guarantees:

Thursday, October 4th (2:00pm): $50 No Limit Hold'em Satellite Into Event #1 (5 Seats GTD)
Friday, October 5th (2:00pm)$50 No Limit Hold'em Satellite Into Event #1 (10 Seats GTD)

Isle Open Event #1 (Flight 1A): Rizzuto Returns To Tournament Action, Hoping To Pick Up Where He Left Off

2018 Isle Open | Event #1
$200 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 6 (Blinds 300/500/500)
Total Flight 1A Entries: 61

Michael Rizzuto (Pompano Beach, FL) has been absent from the Isle Casino Pompano Park tournament scene for a while, but is looking to making his triumphant return in this opening event of the 2018 Isle Open.

It's been over a year since Michael Rizzuto (Pompano Beach, FL) has recorded a tournament cash, after having a pretty successful month during the 2017 Florida State Poker Championships.  Rizzuto cashes in three events during the series, including the $1,500 No Limit Hold'em Main Event ($500,000 GTD).  Those results, along with a Hard Rock cash the following month, brought Rizzuto's lifetime earnings to $112,349.  Michael's career best result came during the 2014 Florida State Poker Championships, when he was part of a ten-way chop that ended Event #7 ($115 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD).  His third place share was worth $10,287, and still stands as his second largest tournament cash.

Rizzuto headlines the first list of notables in this afternoon's field, joining the likes of:

William Swicicki

Isle Open Event #1 (Flight 1A): Michael Eddy Wastes No Time, Finds Himself Atop The Leaderboard

2018 Isle Open | Event #1
$200 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 5 (Blinds 200/400/400)
Total Flight 1A Entries: 50

While others arrived before the first hand was even dealt, Michael Eddy (Hollywood, FL) decided to join the action less than an hour ago...and is currently the flight's chip leader.

Michael Eddy (Hollywood, FL) entered Flight 1A just as Level 4 was beginning, and immediately introduced himself to the table.  Michael limped for (300) in his first hand (after three other players just called as well), with the player on the button going all-in for 1,000.  Both the blinds, and the original limpers made the call, giving Eddy too good of a price to fold.  He would make the call, and the table watched the dealer fan out a flop of K 7 4.  After action checked to Eddy, he fired out a bet of 3,500, to be called by two players.  The 10 then fell on the turn, and after the other active players checked, Eddy dumped in the rest of his stack (all-in for 15,500).  The small blind released his hand, leaving Michael just one player to get through, but his opponent wasn't so quick to release.  Following a few minutes in the tank, a call was made, and the three hands were exposed:

Michael Eddy: 9 6
A. Nonymous: J 7
B. Nonymous: A♣ 10

River: 9

Eddy had turned the nine-high flush, but was still at risk, and needed to fade a diamond on the river.  He would do just that, and quickly turned his 20,000 unit starting stack, into over 50,000.

Towards the end of the level, Eddy's stack dipped a bit, but he'd get healthy very quickly.  After an all-in of 5,700, Nagui Yassa made the call, with Eddy shoving for 45,300.  Yassa took about three minutes before making the call, giving us the largest (early) pot of the tournament.

A. Nonymous: A♠ J♣
Eddy: A♣ K♣
Yassa: Q 10

Flop: 3♣ 4♣ 6♣

Eddy flopped the nut-flush, and had both of his opponents drawing dead.  "That''ll do it," Michael said, as his opponents collected their things to exit the table.

Michael Eddy - 83,000 (207bb)

Isle Open Event #1 (Flight 1A): Not A Terrible Way To Breakout...O'Brien Looking To Continue Solid Form

2018 Isle Open | Event #1
$200 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 4 (Blinds 200/300/300)
Total Flight 1A Entries: 35

Tournament poker is clearly not Harry O'Brien's (Port St. Lucie, FL) pastime, but he might start playing more often, after a six-figure score just two weeks ago.

"When you were coming over to take my picture, I thought you were going to focus on the guy next to me...he finished third in the main," Kenneth Bruno mentioned (after seeing his featured post on the blog).  The player next to him that he was referencing, was Harry O'Brien (Port St. Lucie, FL), who finished third in the WSOP Circuit $1,700 No Limit Hold'em Main Event (at Coconut Creek).  The result was worth $101,219, and while that's an eye-popping number, the is a little fact that makes it even that much more impressive.  That tournament cash was just the second of O'Brien's career, with his first coming in December of last year (during a $350 No Limit Hold'em "special" event at Hard Rock).

The scenario is so far-fetched, that we had to confirm with Harry, whether the results yield were in fact correct.  "It is possible that you only have two lifetime tournament cashes, one of which was the most recent result at the WSOP Circuit...or are we missing something," was the questioned posed to Harry.  He just looked up with a smile and said "yes," confirming what was seemingly a dream run for O'Brien.

Players will be taking their first break of the day at the end of this level, returning to Level 5, and new blinds of 200/400/400.

Isle Open Event #1 (Flight 1A): Ladies Champ In The Field, Looking For A Trophy To Go Along With The Bracelet

2018 Isle Open | Event #1
$200 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 3 (Blinds 100/200/200)
Total Flight 1A Entries: 31

Jacquelyn Scott (Detroit, MI) can safely say that she is the only WSOP bracelet winner in this field...and likely many of the other tournament fields she plays in.

It's not often that a WSOP bracelet winner sits down in one of these "smaller" buy-in tournaments, but when they are in the field, we take note of it.  Jacquelyn Scott (Detroit, MI) has been featured on the blog numerous times in the past, but what followers may not know, is that she's the owner of a WSOP bracelet. During the summer of 2015, Scott bested a field of (795) entries in the $1,000 No Limit Hold'em Ladies event (Event #53), earning herself $153,876 (along with the coveted piece of jewelry).

Jacquelyn has since added numerous results to her tournament resume, but is still looking for that second title.  She has had nine final table finishes since the bracelet win, including one runner-up finish (in a $150 No Limit Hold'em $10,000 GTD here at the Isle), and now boasts career earnings of $268,024. She is one of the friendliest players you'll ever share the table with, and just happens to be one of the early notables in this Flight 1A field.

Isle Open Event #1 (Flight 1A): Kenneth Bruno An Early Arrival, Coming Off His Second Largest Tournament Cash

2018 Isle Open | Event #1
$200 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 2 (Blinds 100/200)
Total Flight 1A Entries: 29

Kenneth Bruno (Lake Worth, FL) is just a few weeks removed from a deep run in the $1,700 No Limit Hold'em WSOP Circuit Main Event, recently hosted a Coconut Creek.

Kenneth Bruno (Lake Worth, FL) has been a tournament fixture at the Isle, for basically as long as we can remember.  Bruno epitomizes the "grinder" mentality, never throwing in the towel during events, and constantly turning around super short stacks into tournament cashes.  Now the script doesn't always play out that way for Bruno, who has an impressive resume to show, boasting earnings just over $224,600.  His most recent cash, which came during the WSOP Circuit $1,700 No Limit Hold'em Main Event (at Coconut Creek last month), happened to be the second largest of his career.  Kenneth just missed out on reaching the final table, as he finished in 12th place, which was worth $16,903.  Bruno's career highlighting score came just under a year ago, when he chopped up a $360 No Limit Hold'em ($200,000 GTD), taking home fourth place money in a six-way deal ($19,311).

Isle Open Event #1 (Flight 1A): The 2018 Isle Open Is Officially Underway!!!!

2018 Isle Open | Event #1
$200 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 1 (Blinds 100/100)
Total Flight 1A Entries: 23

The 2018 Isle Open kicked off just a few minutes ago, as the first Flight 1A hand was dealt of Event #1.  The $200 No Limit Hold'em event, which carries a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool, will run through this Sunday (Day 2 at 12:00pm).  There are afternoon (11:00am) and evening (6:00pm) flights through Saturday, along with satellites into the tournament each day.

These opening flights are structured with 20,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (30) minutes throughout (and will continue to be 30 minutes through Day 2, and the conclusion of the tournament).  Registration is open through Level 8, allowing players to enter today's Flight 1A until approximately 3:20pm.

The opening events of these major series usually attract some of the largest fields on each schedule, and this event is expected to be no different.  Live blogged coverage will bring updates throughout the afternoon, as the first group of players look to bag chips for Sunday's Day 2 (and earn themselves a few days off).

Tournaments: After a long wait, the 2018 Isle Open is finally upon us, as the day begins (at 10:00am) with a $50 No Limit Hold'em Satellite Into Event #1 ($200 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD), which has a (3) seat guarantee.  The satellite is structured with 8,000 unit starting stacks, (20) minute levels, and registration that lasts eight levels.

As the satellite is playing out, Flight 1A of Event #1 begins, with the cards getting in the air at 11:00am.  The opening event of the series is a $200 No Limit Hold'em, which boasts a very healthy $100,000 guaranteed prize pool.  There are eight flights over the next four days, with players that bag chips returning on Sunday (at 12:00pm) for Day 2.  Each of the flights are structured with 20,000 unit starting stacks, levels that last (30) minutes, and registration that is open through Level 8 (and the break that follows).  Play is scheduled to conclude after Level 16, or when the field reaches the 10% mark, whichever happens first.

Flight 1B of Event #1 is in the 6:00pm time slot, and carries the same structure as the afternoon flight before it.  There will be live blogged coverage of Flight 1A, with the official chip counts from both flights to be posted in the early morning hours (Tuesday).

Promotions: Tuesday's promotions start with the every-popular Full House Early Bird, with the first (25) full houses awarded up to $60.  The amount won depends on which game is being played, as 2/2 Limit Hold'em players earn $20 (for each full house while eligible), 2/4 Limit Hold'em players earning $40 (for each full house while eligible), and $60 for those playing: 1/2 No Limit Hold'em, 2/5 No Limit Hold'em, 5/10 No Limit Hold'em, 3/6 Limit Hold'em, and 8/16 O.E.

The standard high hands begin at 10:00am (because off the full house promotion), with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.
