Tournament players that are searching for good value and solid structure, need to look no further than tonight's event.  The $120 No Limit Hold'em event begins at 6:00pm, and boasts a very player-friendly structure.  The starting stack is 25,000 units, with levels that start at (20) minutes, and transition to (25) minutes (once registration closes).  This offers deep play in the later stages of the event, something many tournament regulars are looking for.

Promotions: The high hand promotions take another "breather" today, between yesterday's (11) hours worth of "turbo" high hands, tomorrow's (7) hours of $300 high hands (awarded every 15 minutes).  The "standard high hand" procedure is in place, awarded prizes to qualifying high hands every (30) minutes (with rollovers).

Friday, September 29th: Friday Is About A Tournament And "Turbo High Hands"

ICYMI: Thursday's tournament action began with a little "mixed-game" flare, as the $130 Omaha/Stud 8B Hi/Lo ($2,000 GTD) began at 11:00am.  The field of (20) entries would reach the guaranteed prize pool on the number, with three players reaching the money.  After Arnold Cohen (West Palm Beach, FL) was eliminated on the bubble, play would continue on, eventually crowning an outright winner.  Dale Phillips (Naples, FL) entered heads-up play with a slight deficit against Ian Cohen (Lauderdale By The Sea, FL), but used to critical hands to grab a commanding lead, eventually putting Cohen away for the tournament win.

  1. Dale Phillips (Naples, FL) $1,000
  2. Ian Cohen (Lauderdale By The Sea, FL) $600
  3. Stanley Oremland (Coral Springs, FL) $400
The O.E. tournament was followed at 6:00pm, by the $100 No Limit Hold'em "Deepstack Turbo Bounty" ($3,000).  The field was comprised of (53) entries, and once the optional add-ons were added into the number, the official prize pool would close at $4,241 (bounties included).  A total of seven spots would get paid in the tournament, with action mirroring the afternoon event, with the exception of the conclusion.  Once heads-up play was reached between Anthony Wilson and Jack Kay, the two would agree to a deal that ended the event.
  1. Anthony Wilson (Sunrise, FL) $970
  2. Jack Kay (Aurora, CO) $750
  3. Daniel Shortley (Lake Worth, FL) $394
  4. Larry Bass (Tamarac, FL) $277
  5. Scott Hartman (Coral Springs, FL) $219
  6. Al Gomez (Miami Beach, FL) $175
  7. Arthur White (Harrisville, RI) $131

Tournaments: There are only two days left in the month, with the calendar turning over to October, and the 2017 Isle Open right around the corner.  Today's event slate consists of one tournament, which gets underway at 6:00pm.  The $75 buy-in No Limit Hold'em event is structured generously, with starting stacks of 15,000 units, and (20) minute levels over the course of the evening.  There is also an optional add-on at the end of registration (after Level 8), which costs $20 for an extra 10,000 units (100% of the add-on goes into the prize pool).

Promotions: From the moment the doors to the poker room open, the "bonus" high hands are in effect.  Things start with the "Turbo High Hands," with $100 awarded to the qualifying high hand every (10) minutes.  With less tables in the morning hours, we usually see rollovers on a consistent basis, some of which get as high as $600-$700.  The ten minute high hands run from 9:00am-12:00pm, and then transition to a different promotion.

Things are still "turbo-ish," with $250 high hands awarded every (20) minutes, from the hours of 12:00pm-4:00pm.  The promotion only gets richer after that, as one last transition sees $500 awarded every (20) minutes, from the hours of 4:00pm-12:00am.

6:00pm - $75 No Limit Hold'em

- Players will begin with a 15,000 starting stack
- Late and re-entries for the first (8) levels
- Alternates and late entries will receive full stacks
- Levels are (20) minutes in length throughout
- Optional player "add-on" at the end of Level 8 ($20 for 10,000 tournament chips), with 100% of the "add-on" going to the prize pool

Thursday, September 28th: Full State As Weekend Quickly Approaches

ICYMI: Wednesday afternoon's "Monster Stack" lived up to its name, as (50) entries made up the $100 buy-in tournament (which had a $3,000 guaranteed prize pool).  The prize pool would close at $3,850, with seven players scheduled to reach the money.  Play would continue once the money-bubble burst, but eventually paused when four-handed play was reached.  A deal was then agreed to, with Isle Poker Room notable Joseph Mancuso (Deerfield Beach, FL) adding another tournament win to his career resume ($867).

  1. Joseph Mancuso (Deerfield Beach, FL) $867
  2. Larry Ritchie (Coral Springs, FL) $839
  3. Pedro Palacio (Delray Beach, FL) $828
  4. Helen McBreaty (Kissimmee, FL) $623
  5. Frank Traino (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $289
  6. Yves Ferquire (Miami, FL) $231
  7. Don Pennington (Boca Raton, FL) $173
The evening tournament last night was a $75 No Limit Hold'em event, which saw registration close with (54) total entries, and an official prize pool of $2,808.  Just like the afternoon tournament, seven places were scheduled to get paid, with play continuing through the money bubble (once again).  It would not be until play reached three-handed, that the clock would be paused, and a deal agreed to.
  1. Kevin Batt (Port St. Lucie, FL) $800
  2. Patricia Conrad (Delray Beach, FL) $618
  3. Eugene Alkes (Delray Beach, FL) $618
  4. Wolfgang Linder (Germany) $267
  5. Diane Linke (Boynton Beach, FL) $211
  6. Patrick Biancone (Delray Beach, FL) $168
  7. Chantal Lecours (Canada) $126
Tournaments: The tournament schedule is "mixing" it up this afternoon, with the $130 Omaha/Stud 8B (Hi/Lo) ($2,000 GTD) beginning at 11:00am.  These non no-limit hold'em events have attracted nice sized fields since their introduction to the schedule, with this afternoon to be no exception.  The tournament has a great structure that players have come to love, with starting stacks of 14,000 units, and transitioning levels of (15) to (20) minutes.  That transition occurs at the end of registration, which closes once the cards are in the air for Level 9.

The "standard" no limit events return at 6:00pm, as the cards get in the air for the $100 No Limit Hold'em "Big Stack Turbo Bounty" ($3,000 GTD).  The structure is the same as it's predecessor earlier in the week, with an 18,000 unit starting stack, and (15) minute levels throughout the tournament.  There is an optional add on at the end of registration, with players having the opportunity to spend $25, for 10,000 units in return (100% of all add-ons going towards the prize pool).

Promotions: The Full House Early Bird promotion is in it's regularly scheduled spot this morning, but it's no longer just for limit hold'em players.  Every table in the poker room (excluding time raked games) is eligible for the promotion, which pays out the first (50) full houses (payout depends on which stakes are being played).  Similar to what is run on Friday's, there will also be $300 awarded to qualifying high hands every (15) minutes (from 12:00pm-4:00pm).

11:00am - $130 Omaha/Stud 8B Hi/Lo ($2,000 GTD)

- Players will begin with a 14,000 starting stack
- Late and re-entries for the first (8) levels
- Alternates and late entries will receive full stacks
- Levels 1-8 are (15) minutes in length, with Levels 9+ lasting (20) minutes

6:00pm - $100 No Limit Hold'em "Big Stack Turbo" w/ $25 Bounties

- Players will begin with a 18,000 starting stack
- Late and re-entries for the first (10) levels
- Option player "add-on" at the end of Level 10 ($25 for 10,000 tournament chips), with 100% of the "add-on" going to the prize pool
- Levels are (15) minutes in length

Wednesday, September 27th: For Those Who Wanted To Spin The Money Wheel...Now's The Time

ICYMI: Yesterday's $100 No Limit Hold'em "Monster Stack" saw one of the bigger crowds in a while, as the event continues to grow on popularity.  A total of (54) entries made up the field, which equated to a prize pool of $4,158.  That entail, saw a posted first place prize of of $1,539, which is just unheard of for an afternoon tournament.  The tournament clock showed seven spots scheduled to reach the money, and after two post-bubble eliminations, the remaining five players agreed to an even chop.

  1. Daniel Genachte (Deerfield Beach, FL) $744
  2. Patricia Conrad (Delray Beach, FL) $744
  3. Arlene Vazquez (Parkland, FL) $744
  4. Paula Holder (Pompano Beach, FL) $744
  5. Stanton Drazen (Boynton Beach, FL) $744
  6. Lawrence Hawkins (Lake Worth, FL) $251
  7. Morris Heider (Boca Raton, FL) $187
The trend of large fields continued in the 6:00pm (evening) event, as the $60 No Limit Hold'em ($8,000 GTD) saw registration close with (233) entries.  After the optional add-ons were included into the official number, the prize pool would reach $10,967.  The posted payouts would have (30) players make the money, but all eyes were on the $2,565 first place prize.  The deal-making started earlier than usual, as players agreed to a final table chop, with everyone walking away with at least $474.  Henry Behr (Pompano Beach, FL) topped the payouts, taking home $1,143.
  1. Henry Behr (Pompano Beach, FL) $1,143
  2. Vincent Laino (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $1,133
  3. Blaine McRae (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $893
  4. Steven Olek (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $884
  5. Lafaya Mitchell (Sacramento, CA) $874
  6. Matthew Schlesinger (Las Vegas, NV) $786
  7. Scott Di Benedetto (Boca Raton, FL) $771
  8. Daniel Shortley (Lake Worth, FL) $749
  9. Vladimir Valderrama (Davie, FL) $599
  10. Barry Price (N. Palm Beach, FL) $474

Tournaments: Wednesday's tournament action begins at 11:00am, with the $100 No Limit Hold'em "Monster Stack," which carries with it a $3,000 guaranteed prize pool.  As mentioned above, yesterday's installment of the tournament drew a field of (54) entries, so it will be interesting to see if the same trend continues.  The structure stays the same, with starting stacks of 25,000 units, and levels that last (20) minutes over the course of the event.

The "Monster Stack" is followed at 6:00pm, by a $75 No Limit Hold'em tournament, with a slightly "extended" structure.  The starting stacks for the event are 15,000, but the levels are (25) minutes throughout the night.  It allows for deeper play in the later stages of the event, and affords those who play a patient strategy, the time to pick their spots.

Promotions: The high hand promotions are in full swing from the moment the doors open this morning, with the "Turbo High Hands" ($100 awarded every 10 minutes from 9:00am-12:00pm, with rollovers) distributing money at a rapid pace.  The transition at 12:00pm begins the "Spin To Win" promotion, which has awarded hundreds of thousands since it's inception.  It's the high hand promotion that makes all others jealous, and affords those that have a qualifying high hand (awarded every 30 minutes), an opportunity to spin the ever-popular "Money Wheel."  The total amount awarded...along with hourly breakdown, will be published tomorrow afternoon, here on the blog.

It should be noted, that with new high hand promotions in place for the month of October, this will be the last "Spin To Win" day for at least that time period.  For those still looking to take that special walk up to the stage, and spin the famous "money wheel," today is your day.

11:00am - $100 No Limit Hold'em "Monster Stack" ($3,000 GTD)

- Players start with 25,000 in tournament chips
- Late and re-entries for the first (8) levels

- Level will last (20) minutes throughout the event

6:00pm - $75 No Limit Hold'em

- Players will begin with a 15,000 starting stack
- Late and re-entries for the first (8) levels
- Alternates and late entries will receive full stacks
- Levels are (25) minutes in length throughout
- Optional player "add-on" at the end of Level 8 ($20 for 10,000 tournament chips), with 100% of the "add-on" going to the prize pool

2017 Isle Open Schedule Announced (October 4th-31st), Over $1.1 Million In Guarantees

A total of (24) main events (and 12 secondary events) make up the 2017 Isle Open, which runs from October 4th-31st, and boasts over $1,100,000 in guaranteed prize money.  The four "major" events on the schedule are:

Event #1 (Oct. 4th-8th) - $175 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Event #7 (Oct. 12th-15th) - $360 No Limit Hold'em ($200,000 GTD)
Event #15 (Oct. 20th-22nd) - $1,100 No Limit Hold'em ($150,000 GTD)
Event #21 (Oct. 26th-30th) - $1,500 NLH Isle Open Championship Event ($500,000 GTD)

There is a little wrinkle for this year's Isle Open, with what players a calling a "fifth major" added to the schedule.  The $2,500 "Single-Day Series" has found its way into the fray, garnering attention with the first posted guarantee on the tournament ($100,000).  The event has run on two occasions to this point, with a prize pools over $70,000, and $172,000.  The tournament (Event #14) runs the day before the opening flight for Event #15 ($1,100 NLH), giving yet another reason for players to arrive early for the Isle Open's "homestretch."

Outside of the "majors," some events to highlight on the schedule, are the $175 buy-in Seniors No Limit Hold'em Championship (Event #9), the $150 Limit Omaha 8B Hi/Lo (Event #11), and the introduction of the Goliath Stack (Event #13).  The Goliath Stack offers players a starting stack of 35,000 units, for a $10,000 guaranteed event.

There are also (11) satellites on the "secondary event schedule," offering everything from direct entry into the larger buy-in events, to a package deal that awards seats into both Event #7 ($360 NLH) and Event #15 ($1,100 NLH).

The full schedule (along with structure sheets) can be found on the Isle Casino Pompano Beach's main website, or by clicking here.

Sunday, September 24th: Full Tournament Slate And "Rich" Bonus Hands This NFL Sunday

ICMYI: Players were chopping once again Saturday morning, as the $100 No Limit Hold'em "Big Stack Turbo Bounty" ($3,000 GTD) ended in a six-way deal.  A total of (46) entries made up the field, and once the payouts were posted from the $3,487 prize pool, players would see five spots getting paid.  Once play reached the money bubble, chop discussions began right there, with a deal made that paid an extra (sixth) spot.

  1. Kenneth Taffaro (Mooresville, NC) $560
  2. Arnold Cohen (West Palm Beach, FL) $448
  3. Shravan Kulshrestha (Miami, FL) $427
  4. Duane Minerva (Delray Beach, FL) $416
  5. Blaine McRae (Delray Beach, FL) $346
  6. Jessie Roberts (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $140
The 6:00pm tournament lived up to it's name for sure, as the $120 No Limit Hold'em "Monster Stack" saw registration close with (103) entries, and a total prize pool of $8,755.  That is one of the higher numbers we've seen for that tournament, which boasted a first lace prize of $2,669.  The event also ended up in a chop, as the final five players broke down the ICM numbers, with Mike Diamond (Miami, FL) taking home the win.
  1. Mike Diamong (Miami, FL) $1,747
  2. Joseph Quaider (Tamarac, FL) $1,558
  3. Mark Bernstein (Hollywood, FL) $1,357
  4. Mandy Restrepo (Boca Raton, FL) $953
  5. Nathan Schwartz (Boca Raton, FL) $872

  9. Bernard Beloff (Boynton Beach, FL) $267
  10. Nathaniel Moore (Boca Raton, FL) $241

Tournaments: Sunday's tournament slate has two tournaments on the schedule, with the first starting at 12:00pm.  The $150 No Limit Hold'em event that kicks the action off is structured with starting stacks of 20,000 units, and levels lasting (25) minutes throughout the tournament.  The play is deep throughout the event, which is one of the reasons this tournament is one of the more popular with the players on the weekend.

That event is followed by a tournament that is growing in popularity each and every time it is run.  The $130 No Limit Hold'em "Hard Stop, ICM Chop" event sees the cards in the air at 6:00pm, and assures players they will be finished no later than 12:30am.  Players sit down to starting stacks of 20,000 units, with (20) minute levels, but there is a little wrinkle towards the end of the night.  After Level 16, the clock will be paused, and (10) final hands will be played.  Once those hands have finished, those players still left will split the prize pool (according to ICM calculations).

Promotions: For a number of months, Sunday's high hand promotion has been of the "turbo" format, with $300 awarded every (15) minutes from 2:00pm-9:00pm (rollovers apply).  While that promotion is still in place this afternoon, there will be an extra six hours of "turbo" high hands, with $100 awarded every (10) minutes, from 8:00am-2:00pm.  However you break it down, it's $600 worth of high hands up for grabs over the span of (13) hours.  Both tournaments are high hand eligible, adding even more appeal to the events.

11:00am - $150 No Limit Hold'em

- Players will start with 20,000 in tournament chips
- Late and re-entries for the first (8) levels
- Alternates and late entries will start with a full stack
- Levels are (25) minutes

6:00pm - $100 No Limit Hold'em "Hard Stop, ICM Chop"

- Players will start with 20,000 in tournament chips
- Late and re-entries for the first (8) levels
- Alternates and late entries will start with a full stack
- Levels are (20) minutes
- At the end of Level 16, tables will be balanced and tournament will play (10) more hands, in hard-for-hand format.  Tables will be re-balanced after (5) hands.
- At the end of (10) hands, tournament play will end, and all remaining players will chop the prize pool using an ICM calculation.

Saturday, September 23rd: Jaffe Wins "Single-Day Series II," Back To "Regular Weekend Programming"

Jonathan Jaffe (Plantation, FL)
ICMYI: The second running of the "Single-Day Series" was the highlight of yesterday's tournament schedule, with the cards getting in the air shortly after 12:00pm.  After eight levels of play, registration would close with a total of (30) entries, and officially end up with a $69,000 prize pool.  Five players would reach the money in the tournament, with a min-cash taking home $4,140, and first place earning $31,740.  Jonathan Jaffe (Plantation, FL) was under the radar for a good portion of the day, but used late heat to storm through the final table once play reached the money, eventually besting Corey Burbick (Davie, FL) for the title.

  1. Jonathan Jaffe (Plantation, FL) $31,740
  2. Corey Burbick (Davie, FL) $17,250
  3. Ian O'Hara (Boca Raton, FL) $9,660
  4. Andrew Touchette (Coconut Creek, FL) $6,210
  5. Samuel Ganzfried (Miami Beach, FL) $4,140
The evening tournament's payout list was more like a "who's who" of recurring Isle Poker tournaments, with Diane Linke (Boynton Beach, FL) returning to the winner's circle once more.  The $75 No Limit Hold'em tournament attracted a field of (79) entries, and once the optional add-ons were included to the prize pool, it would balloon to $5,048 (a very solid number for that event).  Players that reached the final table of ten would make the money, and while the action ended in a six-way chop, most everyone at the final table was an "Isle Poker notable:"
  1. Diane Linke (Boynton Beach, FL) $934
  2. Marcia Costa-Savidge (Pompano Beach, FL) $853
  3. Michael Corbett (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $685

Tournaments: Saturday's tournament action begins at 11:00am, with the $100 No Limit Hold'em "Big Stack Turbo Bounty" ($3,000 GTD).  The structure stays the same as the installments that fall on other days of the week, with players sitting down to starting stacks of 18,000 units, and playing levels that last (15) minutes throughout the event.  There is also an optional add-on at the end of Level 10 (when registration closes), with players able to grab another 10,000 units towards their stacks for $25 (100% of the add-on money goes towards the prize pool).

"Single-Day Series II:" Jonathan Jaffe Uses Late Heat To Take Down the "Single-Day Series II" ($31,740)

Level 18 (Blinds 15,000/30,000/30,000 Ante)

Jonathan Jaffe (Longmeadow, MA)

Jonathan Jaffe bested a field of (30) entries in route to winning the second installment of the "Single-Day Series," a $2,500 buy-in event that boasted a $69,000 prize pool.  In a comfortable position for most of the day, Jaffe used a fortunate runout holding A J♠ against Sam Ganzfield's K K♠ to propel himself to the title.  After winning that hand, and doubling to over 1,000,000 in chips, Jonathan proceeded to knockout the final three players (Touchette, O'Hara, and Burbick).  This is Jaffe's first tournament win since his $7,500 High Roller title at Maryland Live! in 2016 ($50,400).  The $31,740 that Jaffe earned for first place brings his career earnings total above $2,564,000, and helps him crack the top (300) on the all-time money list.

"Single-Day Series II:" Burbick Defies Odds To Finish Runner-Up ($17,250)

"Single-Day Series II"
Level 18 (Blinds 15,000/30,000/30,000 Ante)
Total Entries: 30

Corey Burbick (Davie, FL)

Like Andrew Touchette before him, Corey Burbick (Davie, FL) managed to reach a point in the tournament that seemed beyond unlikely, earlier in the day.  With ten players remaining, Corey was sitting with just (15) big blinds, sitting with 55,000 at 2,000/4,000 blinds.  Corey managed to make it to the "official" final table of nine, but was still an underdog to even cash.

Burbick then proceeded to catch fire over the Level 11-12 time period, and after the money bubble burst, found himself within 150,000 of the chip leader at the time.  He would then have to watch as Jonathan Jaffe caught fire, and while Burbick would reach heads-up play, he'd have a mountain to climb to catch Jaffe.  Heads-up play would last only a few hands, with Burbick bowing out in second place ($17,250).

"Single-Day Series II:" The Back-To-Back Run Falls Short For O'Hara, Who Departs In Third Place ($8,660)

$2,500 No Limit Hold'em
"Single-Day Series II"
Level 18 (Blinds 15,000/30,000/30,000 Ante)
Total Entries: 30
Players Remaining: 2

Ian O'Hara (Boca Raton, FL)

Ian O'Hara (Boca Raton, FL) put himself in great position to go back-to-back in the first two "Single-Day Series" events, but would fall just two spots short.  The hand after Andrew Touchette was eliminated, O'Hara would limp shove A♠ 3♠ (blind v. blind) against Jonathan Jaffe, and would bust to Jaffe's 10♠ 10.  This is Ian's first cash since winning the inaugural $2,500 buy-in event last month for $51,750.  Ian's elimination would leave Jaffe and Corey Burbick heads-up for the title, with updated chips counts to be posted momentarily.
