2018 Florida State Poker Championship
Event #9 | $1,100 No Limit Hold'em ($200,000 GTD)
Level 24 (Blinds 15,000/30,000/30,000)
Total Event #9 Entries: 341
Event #9 Players Remaining: 3

Alan Ramkhalawan (Bartow, FL) woke up to a big hand, but would run into the pocket kings of Raj Vohra, who scores yet another final table elimination.

Joe Boulais would open the action with a raise under-the-gun, with Alan Ramkhalawn shoving next to act, for just over 600,000.  Raj Vohra would just flat out of the big blind, and Boulais would release.  Vohra would hold K♠ K♣ against Alan's JJ♠, with the runout bringing no help to Ramkhalawn.  Vohra would score his sixth elimination of the final table, with Alan earning $20,453 for fourth place.

FSPC Event #9 (Day 2): Erik Nomberg Out In 5th Place ($15,769), As Boulais Scores The Knockout

2018 Florida State Poker Championship
Event #9 | $1,100 No Limit Hold'em ($200,000 GTD)
Level 25 (Blinds 20,000/40,000/40,000)
Total Event #9 Entries: 341
Event #9 Players Remaining: 3

With Erik Nomberg's (Dix Hills, NY) fifth place finish, he would earn the fourth largest tournament cash of his career.

Joe Boulais would open with a raise to 75,000, with action folding around to Erik Nomberg in the big blind.  Nomberg three-bet to 240,000 (with just over 500,000 behind), with Boulais four-bet shoving. Erik snapped, and the cards were tabled:

Nomberg: A Q
Boulais: 3♠ 3♣

Runout: 7♠ 7 2♣ 8 4

Nomberg would whiff the flop, but the paired board helped to bring outs on the turn, as an over-card came to Boulais's pocket pair.  Erik was rooting for an eight on the river (as well), but the four would seal his elimination.

FSPC Event #9 (Day 2): And Raj Does It Once Again, Eliminates Matt Smith In 6th Place ($13,047)

2018 Florida State Poker Championship
Event #9 | $1,100 No Limit Hold'em ($200,000 GTD)
Level 24 (Blinds 15,000/30,000/30,000)
Total Event #9 Entries: 341
Event #9 Players Remaining: 5

After a deep run in the $365 No Limit Hold'em Giant (Event #6) at the WSOP, Matt Smith (Margate, FL) reaches the final table in his first tournament back in Florida.

Matt Smith (Margate, FL) was sitting with just over ten big blinds, and got a shove through just moments ago, helping build his stack to 525,000.  The very next hand after, while Matt was stacking up his chips, he'd go all-in with action on him. Both Phil Hui and Erik Nomberg folding, with Raj Vohra making the call:

Smith: 6♠ 6♣
Vohra: 88

Runout: A♣ A K♠ 10♣ J♣

Matt would be in rough shape when the cards were tabled, and was unable to find any help through the runout.  In an pretty remarkable feat, Raj has now eliminated all but one player since the final table was reached.

FSPC Event #9 (Day 2): Mark Shulla Eliminated In 7th Place ($10,952)...By None Other Than Raj Vohra

2018 Florida State Poker Championship
Event #9 | $1,100 No Limit Hold'em ($200,000 GTD)
Level 24 (Blinds 15,000/30,000/30,000)
Total Event #9 Entries: 341
Event #9 Players Remaining: 6

Matt Shulla (Ponte Vedra, FL) plays mostly at Best Bet, but came down here to visit family, and made the most of a schedule that allowed him to play this event.

Mark Shulla (Ponte Vedra, FL) entered Level 24 as the shortest stack, and just six hands into the level, he'd be at risk.  After opening the action with a raise to 65,000, Mark would watch as Raj Vohra cut out a three-bet to 230,000.  The players behind folded, and once action was back on Shulla, he'd go all-in for 530,000.  Raj immediately made the call, and the cards went on their backs:

Shulla: A Q
Vohra: A♠ A♣

Runout: A 3♠ 3♣ 3 K♣

Mark would seemingly be drawing dead on the flop, but actually had outs to a chop after the third three came on the turn.  His hopes were quickly dashed after the king on the river, meaning Raj would score his third elimination at the final table.

FSPC Event #9 (Day 2): Another Vohra Elimination, This Time It's Noel Atherley In 8th Place ($8,989)

2018 Florida State Poker Championship
Event #9 | $1,100 No Limit Hold'em ($200,000 GTD)
Level 23 (Blinds 15,000/25,000/25,000)
Total Event #9 Entries: 341
Event #9 Players Remaining: 7

Noel Atherley (Lantana, FL) may be out of Event #9, but he still gets to stick around the poker room, and sweat his son at the Event #10 final table.

Erik Nomberg would open the action with a raise to 60,000, with Raj Vohra calling on the button.  Noel Atherley (Lantana, FL), who was in the small blind, then three-bet shoved for 495,000.  Nomberg asked for an exact count, but eventually released his hand.

"You can afford it," Atherley said to Vohra, who started to cut out the chips for a call.  After about a minute in the tank, Raj pushed forward the chips for a call:

Atherley: A 7
Vohra: A J♣

Runout: Q♣ 10♠ 6♠ 5 8♣

Atherley was dominated when the cards were tabled, and would be unable to find any help through the runout.  Vohra continues his steamroll of the final table, with this his third straight elimination.

FSPC Event #9 (Day 2): Bryan Moon Eliminated In 9th Place ($7,046)

2018 Florida State Poker Championship
Event #9 | $1,100 No Limit Hold'em ($200,000 GTD)
Level 23 (Blinds 15,000/25,000/25,000)
Total Event #9 Entries: 341
Event #9 Players Remaining: 8

Bryan Moon (Chicago, IL) came into the day as one of the chip leaders, but wasn't able to gain any traction after an early final table double.

After doubling up to start the final table, having came in one of the shortest stacks, Bryan Moon (Chicago, IL) managed to get one shove through in Level 23.  Just moments ago, Erik Nomberg opened the action with a raise to 55,000, with action folding around to Moon.  Bryan was announce himself all-in (for just over 400,000), with Nomberg immediately making the call:

Moon: 10♠ 10♣
Nomberg: Q♠ Q

Runout: A 9 3♣ 5♠ 3♠

Bryan asked the dealer for the ten of hearts (before the runout began), but his request would be fruitless, as Nomberg's pocket queens held up.  Moon collects $7,046 for ninth place, while Nomberg chips up to 1,300,000.

FSPC Event #9 (Day 2): Loni Harwood Eliminated In 10th Place ($5,938), At The Hands Of Raj Vohra

2018 Florida State Poker Championship
Event #9 | $1,100 No Limit Hold'em ($200,000 GTD)
Level 23 (Blinds 15,000/25,000/25,000)
Total Event #9 Entries: 341
Event #9 Players Remaining: 9

In Loni Harwood's first tournament back at the Isle, she would reach the final table, but fell short of her ultimate goal.

Final table players would fold around to Raj Vohra, who put in a raise from the button.  Loni Harwood would call out of the big blind, and after the K 5 10♠ flop, she'd check-shove for 210,000 (after Raj bet 100,000).  Vohra made the call, and the cards would be tabled:

Harwood: Q♣ 10♣
Vohra: 8 4

Turn: 3
River: Q♠

Harwood would be ahead when the chips got in, holding a pair of tens, against the flush draw of Vohra.  There would be no waiting though, as Raj made the flush on the turn, meaning Loni would be the first player to exit the Event #9 final table.

Level 22 (Blinds 10,000/20,000/20,000)
Total Event #9 Entries: 341
Event #9 Players Remaining: 10

TK Miles (Tallahassee, FL) continues his great run (after a very solid summer), falling just one spot short of the Event #9 final table.

At Table 3, Raj Vohra would open the button with a raise to 50,000, which would elicit a fold from Erik Nomberg in the small blind.  TK Miles was in the big, and he would three-bet shove for close to 500,000, with Raj quickly making the call:

Vohra: A♠ K♠
Miles: A 6♣

Runout: A 8♠ 4 K♣ 9♠

Both players would flop a pair of aces, but Miles still needed to hit one of the three sixes remaining to steal the lead (or see running eights or fours to chop).  The king on the turn would leave TK drawing dead, as he would exit the table (and the tournament) in 11th place ($5,938).  The final ten players are now redrawing for seats, with updated final table lineup to follow.

FSPC Event #9 (Day 2): With The Elimination Of Tom Gity ($5,938), Event #9 On The Final Table Bubble

2018 Florida State Poker Championship

Total Event #9 Entries: 341
Event #9 Players Remaining: 11

Tom Gity (Pompano Beach, FL) has been making a habit of reaching final table in these Isle Poker multis, but falls just short this evening.

After the elimination of Michael Amato, Tom Gity (Pompano Beach, FL) would be left as the shortest stack remaining.  Moments ago, he would shove for 225,000, and be called by Alan Ramkhalawn:

Gity: 5♠ 5♣
Ramkhalawn: A K♣

Runout: K Q 7♠ 3♠ 4♣

Gity would fall just short of reaching another final table, but adds another $5,938 to his 2018 earnings, which are now over $60,000.  He will be back in next week's $1,500 No Limit Hold'em FSPC Main Event, having won a seat through the chip lead bonus (from a flight this tournament).

Level 21 (Blinds 8,000/16,000/16,000)
Total Event #9 Entries: 341
Event #9 Players Remaining: 12

Michael Amato (Boca Raton, FL) bought into the day with just ten big blinds, but was able to turn that into a run that fell just short of the final table.

On one of the final hands of the level, Raj Vohra opened from early position, with two players making the call.  Michael Amato (Boca Raton, FL), who was in the big blind, shoved for just over 200,000.  Vohra made the call, and the two flatters released their hands.  Amato would be at risk, and behind when the cards were tabled, holding 7 7♠ against Vohra's K♠ K♣.  The runout would bring no help to Amato, who turned a Day 2 buy-in, into just over $5,000.

FSPC Event #9 (Day 2): Climbing Blind Catch Up To Jose Parra, Eliminated By Ramkhalawn In 14th Place ($5,064)

2018 Florida State Poker Championship

Event #9 Players Remaining: 13

Jose Parra (Hialeah Gardens, FL) records his eleventh cash of the year, bringing his 2018 earnings over $24,000 (which is his second best yearly number of his carer).

Jose Parra (Hialeah Gardens, FL) found himself down to just four big blinds at the beginning of Level 21, but would find a double through Phil Hui.  Just an orbit later, he'd be all-in with A♠ Q♣ against the Q Q of Alan Ramkhalawn, with the runout bringing no help.  Parra earns $5,064 for his fourteenth place finish, and is sure to be back next week, for the $1,500 NLH Florida State Poker Championships Main Event.

FSPC Event #9 (Day 2): Brian Breen Eliminated In 15th Place ($5,064), Vohra Continues The Run Good

Total Event #9 Entries: 341
Event #9 Players Remaining: 14

Brian Breen (Palm Beach Gardens, FL) would take a pretty rough beat to exit the tournament, but did record his first tournament cash since last year.

When we approached Table 3, Raj Vohra would have a 100,000 bet in front of him, with Brian Breen (Palm Beach Gardens, FL) all-in for 280,000.  Raj took about two minutes before pushing forward the chips for a call, with the cards then tabled:

Breen: Q♣ Q
Vohra: 77

Runout: 106 2♣ 7♣ 2♠

Breen looked to be in good shape to score a double, but watched Vohra turn a set, with left Brian drawing to two outs on the river.  With the river pairing the board, Brian would be the third players eliminated since dinner, leaving the field with (14) players.

Raj Vohra - 1,100,000
Brian Breen - 15th Place ($5,064)

Event #9 Players Remaining: 15

Raj Vohra eliminated the start of Day 2 chip leader Evan Teitelbaum, and just added two more knockouts to his list, as his pocket aces held up in a three-way all-in.

Noe Acosta and Yue-Jian Wang were two of the shortest stacks remaining in the field, and just a few hands after the re-draw, they would both be at risk.  Raj Vohra had called both players all-in, and the cards were then tabled:

Vohra: A A
Wang: 5♠ 5
Acosta: A♠ 10

Runout: Q♠ 6♣ 7 8♠ 2♣

Raj was safe on the flop, but had to sweat out the river, as Wang gained eight extra outs towards a win.  The deuce on the river would solidify the double-elimination for Vohra, who chipped up to 870,000.

Raj Vohra - 870,000
Noe Acosta - 17th Place ($4,190)
Yue-Jian Wang - 18th Place ($4,190)

After losing that massive pot to Matt Smith (where Smith made the royal flush against bottom set), Juan Martinez would be left with just over fifteen big blinds.  He'd be eliminated just moments ago.

There was little sweat for Matt Smith (Margate, FL), who turned the royal flush against Juan Martinez's bottom set, helping him double up just under 1,000,000.

Just two hands back from break, we would approached a hand at Table 2, between Juan Martinez and Matt Smith.  On a flop of K J 6♣, Smith would lead out (for about 70,000), with Martinez raising to 200,000 (on the button).  TK Miles released his holdings, with Smith quickly announcing himself all-in (for just over 400,000).  Martinez made the call, and the cards would be on their backs:

Smith: Q 10

Phil Hui (San Antonio, TX) just won one of the largest pots of Day 2, coming from behind to eliminate both Scott Zakheim and Richard Leger.

Phil Hui was one of the (14) players to buy in this afternoon (as mentioned), and was able to build his stack to a comfortable 300,000.  After battling in two straight hands with Richard Leger (with Phil getting the best of him both times), Phil would find himself in a huge spot.

Leger opened the action by shoving for 84,000, with Hui just flatting the amount.  After asking for an exact amount, Joe Boulais would release his hand, with Scott Zakheim announcing himself all-in (from the small blind).  Zakheim's shove was for 196,000, with Hui taking some time to think about his next decision.  "Don't worry, I'm not calling the clock," Zakheim said to Hui, joking about the situation he had to deal with earlier.  Phil would cut out the chips for a call, and push them forward:

Zakheim: K K♣
Hui: J♣ J
Leger: A 6♣

Runout: Q J♠ 10 2♣ 5

Phil would flop a set to take the lead, but needed to fade the turn and river, as Zakheim flopped an open-ended draw.  Both streets came out clean for Hui, who would chip up to 820,000 with the pot, putting him amongst the top five stacks in the remaining field.

Phil Hui - 820,000 (82bb)
