Thursday, July 25th: Andrei Shatilov Turns $520 Satellite Entry Into $55,575, As We Continue With The "Meat" Of The FSPC

ICYMI: It's rare that we begin daily coverage by talking about a satellite, but when looking back at yesterday's action, it's imperative to do so.  The schedule started at 10:00am, with a $520 No Limit Hold'em Satellite into Event #3 of the FSPC ($5,000 No Limit Hold'em "High Roller").  With that tournament being that highest buy-in in over five years, many wondered how successful the event would be.  The satellite gave us a little insight, as registration closed with (21) entries, offering up two seats into Event #3 (and a third place cash prize of $500).  The bubble play took a good amount of time, but eventually Andrei Shatilov and Ido Ashkenazi won seats into the "High Roller."

Andrei Shatilov (Russia)
By the time they took their seats in the Event #3 ($5,000 No Limit Hold'em "High Roller"), the field already had (15) players in it, as the event got off to a very strong start.  The registration period for the tournament closed with a total of (26) entries, and an official prize pool of $123,500.  Four spots were scheduled to get paid, with action playing down to an outright winner.  Andrei Shatilov (Russia) ended up besting Richard Kirsch (Davie, FL) for the title, turning his satellite entry into a $55,575 score!!!
  1. Andrei Shatilov (Russia) $55,575
  2. Richard Kirsch (Davie, FL) $33,345
  3. Ofer Peleg (Sunny Isles Beach) $20,995
  4. Alan Schein (Lighthouse Point, FL) $13,585
The evening time slot hosted a $340 No Limit Hold'em Satellite into Event #4 of the FSPC ($1,650 No Limit Hold'em Turbo "Purple Chip Bounty."  Three seats were guaranteed into the tournament, and with registration closing in the satellite, only three players remained.  This is an interesting moment to look back on, as another satellite runs for Event #4 this morning (10:00am), so their could be great value to be had.

Tournaments: As mentioned above, the day's action begins at 10:00am, with a $340 No Limit Hold'em Satellite into Event #4 of the FSPC ($1,500 No Limit Hold'em Turbo "Purple Chip Bounty." The satellite is structured with 15,000 unit starting stacks, (20) minute levels, and has registration open through Level 8.

The tournament that the satellite is feeding into (Event #4 of the FSPC) begins at 1:00pm.  The $1,500 No Limit Hold'em Turbo "Purple Chip Bounty" is structured with 20,000 unit starting stacks, (20) minute levels (hence the turbo), and registration that is open through Level 12.  The extended registration period allows for players to enter at the last possible second, with ten big blinds.  With the success of yesterday's "High Roller," it will be interesting to see the turnout for this tournament.

The rest of the day is scheduled to hosts two satellites, both having to do with the Florida State Poker Championship's Main Event ($1,500 No Limit Hold'em $300,000 GTD).  At 3:00pm, there is an $80 No Limit Hold'em Step-Satellite into a $340 No Limit Hold'em Main Event Mega (with six megas to run over the next three days).  Following the step-satellite, we see one of those $340 No Limit Hold'em Mega Satellites into the FSPC Main Event, which guarantees one seat.
