Thursday, October 25th: Marvin Rettenmaier Wins Isle Open Main Event "Warm-Up," As $2,500 NLH (8-Max) Headlines Today's Schedule

ICYMI: One of the constants on the tournament schedule for the past few years, has been the Isle Open Main Event falling the week after the World Poker Tour's BestBet Bounty Scramble.  The $5,000 No Limit Hold'em event (which also has selected $2,500 bounties) is one of the most popular on the WPT United States Main Tour, so many big names take the trip to event (including the bigger buy-in notables that play down here at the Isle).  In fact, Isle Casino Pompano Park regular Jake Schwartz ended up finishing runner-up less than (48) hours ago.

What we've seen in the past, is notables names (that are new) staying in Florida after BestBet, to play the Isle Open's Main Event.  With the string a big buy-in events leading up to this year's $1,500 No Limit Hold'em Main Event, players have decided to arrive early, including one of the biggest tournament names in the world.  Marvin Rettenmaier (Germany) has over $6,800,000 in lifetime earnings, and holds titles from the WPT, EPT, IPT, and WSOP (Asia-Pacific).  Marvin can now add an Isle Open title to his resume (and trophy to the mantle), after he took down yesterday's Isle Open Event #9 ($1,100 No Limit Hold'em Six-Max).

The tournament attracted a total of (26) entries, which equated to a prize pool of $26,000, which was spread across four scheduled payouts.  Once in the money, we would see Brett Bader bow out in 4th place ($2,860), followed by Bjame Schluter departing in third place ($4,420).  That would leave Marvin Rettenmaier and Paul Balzano to battle it out for the title, with Marvin coming out on top.  Marvin added $11,700 to his resume with the win, and with the $2,500 No Limit Hold'em (8-Max) and $1,500 No Limit Hold'em Main Event coming up, he's hoping that the run good is just beginning.  Local hero Balzano may have fallen short of his ultimate goal, but he did earn $7,020 for his runner-up finish.

There were also two $80 No Limit Hold'em "Step Satellites" on the schedule, with the following players earning entry into a $340 No Limit Hold'em Mega-Satellite (into Event #11) of their choice:
  1. Danny Blackburn ($340 NLH Mega Satellite Seat)
  2. Roman Peshekhonov ($340 NLH Mega Satellite Seat)
  3. Donald Campbell ($340 NLH Mega Satellite Seat)
  4. Antonio Campbell ($340 NLH Mega Satellite Seat)
  5. Steven Kane ($340 NLH Mega Satellite Seat)
  6. Robert Peoples ($340 NLH Mega Satellite Seat)
  7. Celso Leroy ($340 NLH Mega Satellite Seat)
  8. Kernhall Grant ($340 NLH Mega Satellite Seat)
  9. Dorene Menezes ($340 NLH Mega Satellite Seat)
Tournaments: There have been five $80 No Limit Hold'em "Step Satellites" over the past three days, with players winning seats into their choice of four $340 No Limit Hold'em Mega Satellites into the Isle Open Main Event ($1,500 No Limit Hold'em $300,000 GTD).  The first of those four $340 No Limit Hold'em Mega Satellites kicks off the day's schedule, with the action getting underway at 10:00am.  The mega satellite is structured with starting stacks of 15,000 units, and levels that last (25) minutes in length.  Registration is open through Level 8, allowing over three hours for players to join the action.

The headlining tournament of the day is Event #10 of the Isle Open ($2,500 No Limit Hold'em 8-Max), which begins at 2:00pm.  This is one of the most popular events for the "high-rollers" in the community, and will surely attract some of the most notables names in the area, along with those in town for this weekend's main event.  The tournament is structured with 100,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (30) minutes.  Registration is open through Level 8 (and the break that follows), with the window closing one the first hand in Level 9 is dealt.

The day's third event is a $175 No Limit Hold'em Satellite into the Isle Open Main Event, which begins at 6:00pm.  The satellite is structured with 12,000 unit starting stacks, levels that last (20) minutes, and registration open through Level 8.  This is a very popular event, and even without a guarantee on Tuesday night, it ended up awarding (7) seats (and an eighth place cash prize).

Promotions: From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am, with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.

It should also be noted that players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand.  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).

From 12:00am-3:00am, the high hand will be awarded $100 every (60) minutes.
